Chapter 1760: [Wing Armor] (Upper)

~7 min read 1,255 words

Hu Xiaotian said: "I didn't bring it, and even if I did, I wouldn't plan to exchange it with them." He pulled out the hilt of the light sword from his waist, smiling: "How about we fight our way out side by side?"

Northern Swamp Old Monster gazed at that bare hilt in his hand, secretly thinking: Just relying on this hilt? This kid must be joking?

Hu Xiaotian twisted the hilt, and a blue-white light shone out from it, forming a three-foot-long light blade under Northern Swamp Old Monster's astonished gaze. Northern Swamp Old Monster blinked hard, hardly able to believe what he saw, yet it was indeed happening.

Hu Xiaotian gripped the light sword and thrust it downward; it took hardly any effort, and the light sword had already pierced the bottom of the cavern, a rock layer Northern Swamp Old Monster deemed impenetrable, which was as thin as paper before the light sword. Hu Xiaotian effortlessly drew a three-foot-diameter circle on it, its edge still flashing red light. He lifted his foot and lightly stepped on it, and a dark hole appeared before the two of them.

Hu Xiaotian put away the light sword and proudly lifted his head at Northern Swamp Old Monster.

Northern Swamp Old Monster was astonished, his awe of Hu Xiaotian growing; even without this light sword, Hu Xiaotian would not be his match, and now with this lethal weapon in hand, capable of cutting through anything, there was simply no way for him to defeat Hu Xiaotian.

Hu Xiaotian had already jumped down first through the cut opening.

Northern Swamp Old Monster lowered his gaze; from the neat cut edge he could see that the ground they stood on was about one foot thick—such thickness, so hard, yet Hu Xiaotian had sliced it open like tofu, showing the power of the light sword in his hand.

From below came Hu Xiaotian's voice: "Hey! Old sir, are you coming down or not?"

Northern Swamp Old Monster shook his head, then jumped down through the opening. After landing, he found himself in a strange room where Hu Xiaotian was holding a Night Pearl to illuminate the surroundings, searching for something. Many sealed crystal bottles were embedded in the surrounding walls, containing various creatures, most of which were familiar species to them. Northern Swamp Old Monster was at a loss, unable to fathom why so many small animals would be stored here.

Hu Xiaotian immediately saw that these were all collected specimens, and he couldn't help but think of the extraterrestrial visitors who had fled from Dakang's Qixia Lake earlier; perhaps this place was one of their aircraft.

Hu Xiaotian's guess was soon confirmed; not long after, he found a round hatch, whose lock he had never seen before, and could only be broken open by force with the light sword.

Seeing Hu Xiaotian dig through walls and make holes with such ease, Northern Swamp Old Monster could only feel envious, and his hope of escaping the prison rekindled; as long as he followed Hu Xiaotian's steps, fleeing the Bone-Softening Prison should be easy, and he couldn't help but say: "I've never seen a sword like yours."

Hu Xiaotian smiled, ignored him, and thought to himself, "There's still plenty you haven't seen."

Northern Swamp Old Monster then said: "Perhaps we could try using it to dig open the crystal wall."

Hu Xiaotian said: "If we wanted to leave, I would have left already; since we're here, we might as well explore properly—don't you find everything here remarkably novel?"

Northern Swamp Old Monster nodded and followed his steps into the freshly cut opening.

Although the room was filled with strange devices, Hu Xiaotian easily deduced that this should be the aircraft's cockpit. He went to the pilot's seat and sat down; the seat's accommodation was surprisingly good. He casually pressed the round button on it, but there was no response—apparently the aircraft's energy was completely depleted.

Unable to contain his curiosity, Northern Swamp Old Monster fiddled around, seeing a blue sphere floating in midair on the table; finding it odd, he reached out to grab the sphere to examine it. Unexpectedly, he inadvertently activated a mechanism, revealing an invisible circular opening in the middle of the cockpit.

Hu Xiaotian glared at him, and Northern Swamp Old Monster put on an innocent face: "I didn't touch anything!" He released his hand, the sphere floated back up, and the newly opened hatch slowly closed—apparently the sphere was the switch to open the lower compartment.

Hu Xiaotian walked over, grabbed the blue sphere, and reopened the hatch. Looking down, he felt a blast of cold air, then descended via the vertical ladder into the lower compartment. The lower compartment was very cramped, only about four square feet, barely enough for one person to turn around. On Hu Xiaotian's right side he saw an upright glass chamber; its door bore a narrow longitudinal crack, inside lay a blue skeleton. Hu Xiaotian determined that this glass chamber was likely a cryogenic freezer, and the blue skeleton inside was one of the extraterrestrial visitors—namely, the Heaven's Chosen One mentioned by Ghost Doctor Fu Duo. He or she must have intended to cryogenically preserve themselves, but after freezing, the freezer accidentally ruptured, rendering it ineffective, causing this person to die inside, flesh rotted away, leaving only the blue skeleton. The skull remained intact; Hu Xiaotian opened the chamber door, and the skeleton immediately scattered across the floor, a skull twice the size of a normal person's tumbling and rattling on the ground.

Hu Xiaotian picked up the skull, and Northern Swamp Old Monster peered down from above, seeing that enormous skull, he couldn't help but widen his eyes in curiosity: Whose head could be this big? And the bones were even blue and transparent.

Hu Xiaotian threw the skull upward, and Northern Swamp Old Monster caught it in one hand; it felt extremely light—much lighter than a normal human skull. If he hadn't seen it himself, Northern Swamp Old Monster could scarcely believe it was real.

Beside the freezer stood a cabinet; Hu Xiaotian used the light sword to cut open its door, revealing a set of armor resembling dragon scales, entirely black, tough to the touch yet light in weight. Hu Xiaotian intuitively felt this armor was extraordinary; he took it off, and inside the cabinet there was also a one-foot-square backpack whose interface matched the back of the armor. Hu Xiaotian donned the armor, feeling light and comfortable, and walked out carrying the backpack.

Northern Swamp Old Monster saw that he had gained another treasure, feeling both envy and jealousy, and asked curiously: "What is it?"

Hu Xiaotian said: "I'm not sure what it is either." He slung the backpack behind him, moved his limbs a bit, and then noticed five buttons on his left upper arm; pressing them in turn produced no response. At his waist there was a spot just right for hanging the light sword; he inserted the sword's hilt there, only to see the hilt shimmer with variegated light—as the light sword automatically replenished energy to the armor. Hu Xiaotian then pressed a button on his arm's control panel, and unexpectedly the backpack behind him opened on its own, unfurling a pair of black metal wings with a wingspan of four meters from his back.

Not only was Northern Swamp Old Monster startled, but Hu Xiaotian himself was also quite shocked—it seemed today they had picked up a treasure. (To be continued~^~)
