Chapter 192: I've Been Thinking of You for a Long Time

~9 min read 1,704 words

Finally, Xia Xi got her wish and entered Xu Yanfeng's room, but in reality they got along very purely, not even kissing; he poured her a cup of lime juice to go with her small cake.

Someone called Xu Yanfeng; he stood by the window and took two calls in a row, his phone almost out of battery, he walked to the bedside, plugged in the charger, then sat beside Xia Xi.

The cake was on the coffee table, she had eaten more than half of it, she leaned on the sofa armrest, looking at her phone, feeling the sofa sag beside her leg, she lifted her eyes: "Do you want cake?"

Xu Yanfeng shook his head. Outside the wind and rain swayed, inside was warm and quiet; he didn't want to do anything, just wanted to stay quietly with her.

Xia Xi picked up a spoon, scooped a small piece of cake and brought it to Xu Yanfeng's lips, touching his lips lightly: "Try it, it's not very sweet, it's yuzu-flavored."

Xu Yanfeng wiped the cream off his lips, opened his mouth and ate it; it wasn't very sweet, but he still didn't like it. Xia Xi saw that, chuckled, didn't insist he eat another bite, scooped a spoonful into her own mouth.

Time passed so slowly that not finding something to do would be boring; Xia Xi casually tossed her phone aside, knelt up, swung one leg over Xu Yanfeng's legs, faced him, and sat on his lap.

Xu Yanfeng, afraid she'd fall, had to sit back, his spine against the sofa back, his hands naturally resting on her waist, eyes downcast, voice low and inaudible: "Not honest."

Raindrops pattered on the glass, a natural white noise; Xia Xi curled the corner of her mouth and smiled lightly: "When have I ever been honest?"

As soon as her words fell, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressed down, and kissed him.

The flavor of yuzu mixed with white chocolate, I don't know whose mouth it's stronger in.

He wore a pure white cross-collar bathrobe, his hair tips half-damp, dark and rich, the exposed collarbones on both sides were thin, his skin like white porcelain, who knows how alluring.

At times like this one feels time passing so quickly; soon he was out of breath and had to stop. Xu Yanfeng's eyes were darker than the overcast sky outside, as if dark clouds were surging.

Just like him, Xia Xi's eyes were no longer clear, veiled with moisture, her body limp and unable to sit upright, she clung to him bonelessly, her cheek against his chest, ear over his heart, hearing a deafening heartbeat.

She lifted her face, seeing his tight, clear jawline, she reached out to touch his face, and he lowered his head to look at her.

Xia Xi let out a "pfft" laugh; such a clean, cold, ascetic face yet had a drum-like heartbeat, how incongruous.

The dark desire in Xu Yanfeng's eyes melted away, leaving a blank stare: "What are you laughing at?"

Xia Xi shook her head, refusing to say.

Xu Yanfeng picked her up and put her aside; she immediately frowned, looking aggrieved: "Why won't you hold me?"

"Calm down a bit."

"I don't need to calm down."

"I need to."

"……"

Xia Xi watched Xu Yanfeng get up and walk away, gulping down half a bottle of mineral water in one go, as if cold water entering her body could quell that heat; she opened her mouth, wanting to say he actually didn't need to endure, but the words kept slipping to her lips and she couldn't speak them.

To dispel distracting thoughts, Xu Yanfeng picked up a book to read, the "Global National Geographic Encyclopedia", reading it very seriously. Only he knew that the words on the page floated before his eyes; if he weren't serious enough, he might not absorb a single character.

Xia Xi stayed in the room until past ten; outside it was pitch black like ink, rain still falling but much lighter, gradually showing signs of stopping.

Xu Yanfeng didn't look at his phone, had taken off his wristwatch, not knowing the time; he closed the book and put it on the coffee table, just in time to see Xia Xi cover her mouth and yawn, asking: "What time is it?"

"Ten twenty." Xia Xi said vaguely.

Xu Yanfeng patted her leg: "I'll send you back to sleep."

Xia Xi's expression stalled for a second: "I'm not sleepy yet." She wasn't being stubborn; yawning didn't mean she wanted to sleep.

"Even if you're not sleepy, lie down to rest; after a tiring day, lying in bed helps relieve fatigue." Xu Yanfeng grabbed her wrist and pulled her up from the sofa.

"Do you want to hear how much your tone sounds like an old cadre?"

Xia Xi muttered a complaint, shoulders slumped, dragging her lazy steps, as he personally saw her back to the room next door.

Xu Yanfeng patted her head: "Good night."

Xia Xi didn't even reply with a "good night", shut the door, went to the bathroom to wash up. She had already showered and washed her hair before dinner, didn't plan to wash again, finished in five minutes, and knocked on the door next door.

Xu Yanfeng turned off the ceiling light, left two bedside wall lamps on, his body just touching the bed when a knock sounded outside; he thought he'd misheard, waited silently two seconds, then heard "dong dong" again.

At this hour, it wouldn't be a staff member coming to disturb; could it be Xia Xi? But he had just sent her back.

Xu Yanfeng shuffled to the door in his slippers; before he could see clearly, a figure flashed in, leapt up and clung to him like a human ornament; he had no defense, instinctively extending both arms to support her buttocks to keep her from falling.

Xu Yanfeng couldn't figure out what game she was playing: "How did you come over again?" Speaking, his breath was a little uneven; he subtly adjusted.

Xia Xi buried her face in his neck crook, her lips brushing his skin: "I'm afraid of thunder."

Xu Yanfeng stood still, expression inscrutable: "Xia Xi, tell me, where's the thunder?" The rain was almost stopped; how could there be thunder, and he didn't know how to make up a plausible excuse.

"I say there is, so there is." Xia Xi was unreasonable.

However, less than three seconds after she said that, a flash of lightning split the pitch-black sky, a sinuous white-purple light that instantly illuminated the room before vanishing; then thunder roared, the window glass seeming to tremble, utterly terrifying.

Xu Yanfeng felt astonished; how could this be?

Xia Xi quietly curled the corner of her mouth, as if even heaven was helping her, or maybe some scumbag was swearing an oath?

"Did you hear that? It's so scary, I dare not sleep alone, I'll surely be up all night, tomorrow morning I'll sport two huge dark circles cosplaying a giant panda; you'll be startled when you see me." Xia Xi began spouting nonsense: "I'm doing this for your sake, I'm so thoughtful."

Xu Yanfeng knew every word she said was false, yet he couldn't push her away: "Do you really want to stay here?"

Xia Xi softly hummed, her hand gripping his neck tighter, refusing to let go.

Xu Yanfeng relented, closed the door panel, locked it, and carried her inside. Xia Xi's slipper on her foot went "pat" onto the floor; he paused his steps, first put her on the bed, then picked up the slipper and placed it by the bed.

The hotel's five-star mattress was too soft; Xia Xi was too light, she bounced on it, hands braced at her sides, not forgetting to give Xu Yanfeng a "good person" card, adding a confession: "Baby, you're really good, I love you so much."

Xu Yanfeng lifted the corner of his mouth, closed the curtains, took a blanket and put it on the sofa, speaking low: "I'm with you, now you don't have to be afraid, go to sleep." She was acting, so he simply played along.

Xia Xi wore a blank expression, exactly like that "speechless" panda-head meme.

Last time she stayed over at his apartment, he did the same, giving her the master bedroom bed while he slept on the living room sofa; now he isn't going to the living room, they're sharing a room, shouldn't she praise him for improving?

Xu Yanfeng lay flat on the sofa, pulled the blanket over his waist and abdomen, closed his eyelids.

Less than two minutes later, Xia Xi barefoot jumped off the bed, knelt on one knee at the sofa edge, squeezed in, burrowed into the blanket. Her movements were too swift, as if she'd rehearsed countless times beforehand.

Xu Yanfeng opened his eyes to meet her smiling face; she was doing it again!

Xia Xi no longer wanted to play roundabout tactics; with both hands she used brute force to hold Xu Yanfeng's head, took a bite at his lips, and told him: "I've been thinking of you for a long time, Xu Yanfeng."

Xu Yanfeng's Adam's apple rolled; he knew what she meant, had known all along, pretending not to see. His delay wasn't due to lack of desire; many late nights he had lain awake thinking of her, unable to sleep, and she wouldn't know.

Besides wanting to prolong her freshness, he also had a concern: he feared that once this matter was unleashed it couldn't be contained, just like kissing.

But this matter is far more likely to cause addiction than kissing.

Xu Yanfeng was kissed until his body caught fire; that fire spread wildly, bit by bit burning away all his rationality. Even after reciting the Heart Sutra a hundred times, he could not retrieve a shred of rationality.

Xia Xi truly is a female enchantress; he cannot escape her palm.

The sofa wouldn't open, so Xu Yanfeng picked up the person in his arms, rushed a few steps, and they both fell onto the white big bed; throughout the whole process their entwined lips and tongues never parted.
