Chapter 50: The Night of the Bridal Chamber
Gu Yan was kissed until her whole body went limp.
Her fingers tightened on the bedsheets, only to be caught by him, interlaced with his, and pressed against the pillow.
She turned her head to dodge his kiss, accusing him: "In your head... there is only this one thing!"
"Not just that, there is also you."
He whispered against her ear, his hot breath drilling into it, causing Gu Yan's lower abdomen to tighten.
She bit her lower lip, trying to swallow back those shameful sounds.
But Shen Yanhui knew all too well how to deal with her.
His fingertips traced her waist, his lips ground against her collarbone; every spot was a place where she was sensitive to the point of madness.
"You clearly like it very much." He held her earlobe in his mouth, his voice tinged with a smile.
Gu Yan did not speak, keeping her eyes tightly shut, her eyelashes wet and clumped together.
Shen Yanhui suddenly straightened up.
She opened her eyes in a daze, seeing him grasp her ankles...
Gu Yan understood something in an instant.
"No," her voice trembled violently, her hands clutching as she tried to shrink backward, "Shen Yanhui, don't..."
He leaned down and kissed her lips, very lightly, as if to soothe her.
"You will like it."
Then his kisses began to move downward.
Gu Yan could not see him, so the sensations in her body became even clearer.
She bit the back of her hand, not daring to make a sound.
But it was useless.
"Shen Yanhui!" Panic laced her voice.
He turned a deaf ear.
Gu Yan's tears could not be controlled as they rolled out; this time, it was not because of grievance.
Her fingertips dug into his hair, wanting to push him away, but they curled weakly instead.
"No... really no..." she sobbed, begging for mercy.
Shen Yanhui finally lifted his head.
He pulled her entire body into his arms, gently kissing her sweat-dampened forehead.
He soothed her in a hoarse voice: "Alright, alright, I'll stop."
Gu Yan was still trembling, her tears smearing his chest. It took a long time for her to calm down and for her breathing to gradually level out.
The moment she could move, she pushed him away in shame and annoyance, rolled into the quilt, and wrapped herself into a ball.
Shen Yanhui chuckled softly.
He reached out and pulled open the nightstand drawer.
It was empty.
His movements paused, and he raised an eyebrow.
Gu Yan peeked a pair of eyes out from the edge of the quilt, just in time to catch the expression on his face as he looked at the empty drawer.
A little bit of smugness bubbled up inside her.
"Oh my," her voice still carried the softness of the aftermath, yet she tried to feign innocence, "what a pity, it can't be done today."
Shen Yanhui glanced at her sideways.
His eyes were as deep as a dark river.
"Why can't it be done?" he countered.
Gu Yan blinked, "Didn't you see it yourself... it's all gone."
Shen Yanhui reached out, scooped her up along with the quilt, and patiently peeled her out of it.
Gu Yan protested: "What are you doing!"
He lowered his head, his thumb grinding against her lips, "You will help me just as I just helped you."
Gu Yan: "!!!"
She immediately tried to crawl backward, but was dragged back.
"Be good, wife."
Gu Yan: "..."
Before she passed out, Gu Yan thought groggily that she must steal the Marriage Certificate back tomorrow.
She wanted a divorce, she must get a divorce!
——
In the middle of the night, Gu Yan woke up once; the space beside her was empty.
There was light downstairs.
She threw off the quilt and got out of bed, her bare feet stepping across the carpet. Ever since Shen Yanhui discovered she particularly liked being barefoot, the entire house had been carpeted.
Pushing open the bedroom door, the warm light strips on the wooden staircase were lit, extending all the way to the living room.
Gu Yan went downstairs and found Shen Yanhui standing in front of the glass wall again, a scarlet glow at his fingertips, quietly watching the distant mountains.
The aura around him looked exactly the same as it did on any other day.
Gu Yan trotted over, hugged him suddenly from behind, and her hands restlessly gave his abdominal muscles a feel.
Shen Yanhui was not startled in the slightest; he chuckled softly, brought her around to his front, and held her.
"Why did you come down?"
"Hmm... I woke up and found someone missing, and I thought that after you'd had your fill, you'd just abandoned your new wife and run off."
He laughed: "Run? Is it me who wants to run, or you?"
Gu Yan: "?"
How could she be the one brought into this?
"Don't you go wronging me..."
Shen Yanhui lowered his head, leaning against her shoulder, almost whispering: "Gu Yan, don't you ever think about running in this lifetime, be a good girl."
Gu Yan's heart skipped a beat.
"Otherwise, I'll lock you up, lock you in bed."
He used an almost gentle tone, yet the words he spoke seemed to carry a threat.
Gu Yan suddenly felt that he might really be capable of doing it.
"I'm not running." She wrapped her arms around his neck, pressed her face against his chest, and her voice softened, "You're so good to me, where would I run to?"
Shen Yanhui didn't speak, only tightened his arms, pulling her completely into his embrace.
He could hear the coquettishness and the slight, careless coaxing in her words.
But he didn't mind.
A young girl's temperament is fickle; whether it was sincere or just acting spoiled, it didn't matter.
As long as she said it, he would naturally make her follow through.
"So what were you thinking about just now instead of sleeping?" Gu Yan looked up.
Shen Yanhui was silent for a moment.
"I was thinking," he said slowly, "when to take you to meet my mother."
Gu Yan was stunned.
She did know that Shen Yanhui's father had passed away a long time ago, but she seemed to have never heard anything about his mother.
However...
Parents...
She suddenly remembered something, and her body stiffened.
Her parents, her eldest brother, her grandfather...
She had actually hidden it from everyone and just gone and gotten married!
If they found out...
Gu Yan's vision went dark; she felt her good days might truly be over.
"That..." She guiltily tugged at the collar of his bathrobe, "Actually, there's no rush, right..."
Shen Yanhui, of course, knew what she was feeling guilty about.
"There is indeed no rush," he said, going along with her words.
Gu Yan had just let out a sigh of relief when she heard him continue: "According to custom, it should be me visiting my father-in-law and mother-in-law first to obtain their consent; that would be more formal."
Gu Yan: "..."
Her scalp went numb.
"Shen Yanhui, let's discuss this, okay?" Her voice softened by eight degrees.
"Discuss what?"
"It's just... this marriage thing, can we not make it public yet?" Gu Yan raised her face, blinked, and tried her best to look obedient and pitiful, "Look, my mom and dad... my eldest brother... and my grandfather..."
She continued to act aggrieved, "If they find out I acted first and reported later... you wouldn't want your dear wife to be scolded to pieces, would you?"
Shen Yanhui still didn't speak.
Gu Yan pouted even more, "I'll be so miserable if that happens, don't you feel bad for me~"
The man watched her performance quietly.
After she finished speaking, he finally opened his mouth: "So?"
"So let's take it step by step, step by step, okay? Let's keep it a secret for now, and talk about it when the time is right, alright?"
"No."
Gu Yan hadn't expected him to be so impervious to reason, and she glared at him.
But since her goal hadn't been achieved, she still had to keep coaxing him.
She started acting spoiled again, drawing circles on his chest with her finger, "Please, I promise, when I find a suitable time, I will definitely tell my parents. But right now, it's really not possible..."
She stood on tiptoe and kissed his chin: "Husband?"
The last two words were spoken softly and tenderly.
Shen Yanhui's Adam's apple bobbed.
"Fine." He relented, but added just as Gu Yan's eyes lit up, "But there are conditions."
