Chapter 27: Is this your wife
After Ye Qiuyu left Changmo, she immediately called Lin Wu.
“Rong Ci joined Changmo?”
“Mm.” Ye Qiuyu found it strange: “You didn’t know about this?”
Wasn’t it Rong Ci who pushed her out to get into Changmo?
“I didn’t know.”
She thought Yu Moxun refused to hire her just to get back at Rong Ci.
If Rong Ci is at Changmo now, does that mean she’s left Feng Shi?
Ye Qiuyu paused: “Then what was the private reason you mentioned before?”
Lin Wu didn’t want to elaborate: “Some personal grudges.”
“But—”
“What’s wrong?”
He had misunderstood—his resignation had nothing to do with Lin Wu.
Thinking of this, Ye Qiuyu couldn’t help asking: “How capable is Rong Ci? I heard she hasn’t even passed her PhD entrance exam—”
“She hasn’t just failed her PhD entrance exam—she never even went to graduate school. She only has a bachelor’s degree.”
“What? Really?”
“Mm.”
At this point, Lin Wu’s tone turned cold.
Rong Ci leaving Feng Shi was something she never expected.
What surprised her even more was that after leaving Feng Shi, Rong Ci never considered furthering her education—instead, she got a job at another company through backdoor connections…
She truly had no vision or ambition at all.
Ye Qiuyu asked: “Lin Xuemei, what are your plans next?”
“I have an official racing competition coming up—I need to train a lot. I’ll think about work again later.”
“Oh, I see…”
Ye Qiuyu knew Lin Wu could do anything.
Sometimes he was puzzled—how could she stay sharp in her expertise with so many side activities?
But then again, knowing how outstanding Lin Wu was, he felt she was different from others.
He believed that if Lin Wu dared to act this way, she must have a clear plan.
Meanwhile.
Feng Corporation.
Feng Tingshen flipped through documents without looking up. “Get me a cup of coffee.”
“Yes.”
This was Xu Xuena’s first time brewing coffee for Feng Tingshen personally. She was both excited and nervous.
Following the steps Rong Ci taught her, she carefully brewed the coffee, and Cheng Yuan brought it over.
Feng Tingshen set down his documents, picked up the cup, stirred it lightly, raised it to his lips—then paused.
The aroma felt off.
He hesitated, then took a small sip—but immediately set the cup down. “Have her brew another one.”
Cheng Yuan blinked. “Yes.”
Xu Xuena received the message, flustered: “Brew another? Was it too sweet? Or is the taste wrong? But I followed Rong Ci’s steps exactly—I didn’t mismeasure the sugar. It should be fine.”
“I’m not sure either.”
Xu Xuena had to brew another cup.
Perhaps she was too nervous—this time, Feng Tingshen didn’t even taste it. He just sniffed and set it down. “What’s going on?”
“Secretary Xu might be nervous since it’s her first time brewing for you—she probably didn’t control the heat properly…”
Feng Tingshen frowned. “Secretary Xu? What Secretary Xu? Where’s Rong Ci?”
Cheng Yuan froze. “Rong Ci already resigned. You… didn’t know?”
Feng Tingshen said nothing.
He truly didn’t know.
He did know that Rong Ci had annoyed Cheng Yuan due to her work attitude, and Cheng Yuan had wanted to fire her.
But—
“When did she leave?”
“Last Thursday.”
“Understood.”
Rong Ci had left—but likely only for a few days.
She’d probably come crawling back soon enough.
Cheng Yuan: “What about the coffee…?”
“Take it away. Bring me a glass of warm water.”
“Yes.”
…
At noon, Yu Moxun went out for business meals.
Rong Ci ate alone in the company cafeteria.
Her colleagues from the same department greeted her politely, but kept their distance.
Rong Ci didn’t care.
After lunch, she returned to her work.
By five-thirty in the afternoon, she went to Su Yuquan. “I’ve nearly finished. Take a look?”
“What?”
Su Yuquan didn’t react at first. He looked at what Rong Ci sent—initially confused, but as he read on, his eyes widened in disbelief.
“You… you finished all of this?”
This was Ye Qiuyu’s workload for over ten days!
She… she not only figured it all out in less than a day—she completed it all?
Rong Ci: “Mm.”
Su Yuquan was stunned, suddenly speechless.
Especially since he realized not only had she done an excellent job—her work also gave him entirely new insights he’d never considered for his own tasks!
Others heard and gathered around. After learning what had happened, they were equally shocked.
Regaining his composure, Su Yuquan stared at Rong Ci in disbelief: “You… you’re really a graduate student?”
Rong Ci paused. “I never went to graduate school.”
“!”
How was that possible?
All these PhD and graduate students from top universities—just outdone by an undergraduate?
“Why didn’t you go to grad school? Family financial trouble?”
But Rong Ci didn’t look like someone who couldn’t afford school.
Besides—her skills are this strong. Wouldn’t she have no trouble paying tuition?
Rong Ci lowered her gaze. “No. Just some personal reasons.” She smiled. “If I get the chance later, I might consider furthering my studies.”
After chatting with everyone and helping a few colleagues solve work issues, Rong Ci left the office close to seven.
As she stepped out, she found Yu Moxun waiting by the door: “On your first day, you’ve already shattered everyone’s biases and earned their respect. No surprise it’s you.”
Rong Ci smiled. “Dinner?”
Yu Moxun raised an eyebrow. “Did you think I was waiting here for no reason?”
Rong Ci laughed and left with him.
Over twenty minutes later, at the restaurant, as Rong Ci climbed the steps, a child ran toward her. To avoid him, she stepped back and tripped—just as she was about to fall, Yu Moxun caught her waist and steadied her.
Rong Ci exhaled in relief, about to thank him—then saw Feng Tingshen and Qi Yuming not far away.
They had seen her too.
Feng Tingshen stopped walking.
Qi Yuming raised an eyebrow.
Rong Ci pressed her lips together, looked away, and gently pushed Yu Moxun’s hand off. He hadn’t noticed Feng Tingshen or Qi Yuming. “Did you twist your ankle?”
Rong Ci shook her head. “No.”
“Good. Let’s go.”
“Mm.”
Rong Ci didn’t look back toward Feng Tingshen and Qi Yuming. She climbed the stairs with Yu Moxun.
Seeing Rong Ci’s reaction, Qi Yuming stared in disbelief: “That was your wife, right?”
Feng Tingshen said nothing.
“Her ignoring us completely, acting so close to Yu Moxun—is this some new scheme she cooked up to win you back? Trying to make you jealous?”
Before Feng Tingshen could respond, Qi Yuming chuckled. “She’s thinking way too much.”
Feng Tingshen did not respond, saying softly, “Let’s go.”
