Chapter 32: Forget Her
Feng Tingshen didn’t appear for a long time; the old lady was angry, and Feng Jingxin was unhappy too.
Rong Ci, however, acted as if nothing had happened, calmly brewing tea for the old lady and saying, “Perhaps he’s occupied with an urgent matter and can’t break away.”
The old lady, in a bad mood, went to bed early that night.
Feng Jingxin called Feng Tingshen several times, but no one answered.
The next morning.
When Rong Ci woke up, no one was beside her.
Feng Jingxin had vanished somewhere.
After washing up, Rong Ci left her room and searched everywhere but couldn’t find her.
She learned that because Feng Tingshen hadn’t come, Feng Jingxin found the place boring and had left early with someone to go play elsewhere.
The old lady had caught a chill from the evening breeze and suffered severe headaches in the middle of the night; she had already returned to the ancestral home before Rong Ci woke up.
Not wanting to disturb her rest, the old lady hadn’t immediately sent word to inform her.
For a moment, the vast hot spring shanzhuang, aside from the staff, was left with only her.
In truth, even if Feng Jingxin found the place boring, she could have simply waited for Rong Ci to wake up and asked her to accompany her.
Feng Jingxin slipped away without so much as a word—not because she feared waking Rong Ci, but because she’d received news from Feng Tingshen and was going to meet him and Lin Wu.
Feng Jingxin must have left early in secret because she feared Rong Ci would stop her from going?
The weather wasn’t good today—it rained—but the hot spring pool was sheltered; soaking in the spring while watching the scenery and reading in such weather held its own unique charm.
Besides, she truly enjoyed her own company.
She could have more time to do what she wanted.
So even though she was alone, Rong Ci decided to stay at the hot spring shanzhuang.
By Sunday evening, Rong Ci planned to eat dinner and then head home.
At that moment, she received a call from Feng’s grandmother: “Xiao Ci, I called Tingshen this morning and asked him to come pick you up at the hot spring shanzhuang tonight. Has he contacted you?”
No.
They’d agreed to come together to the hot spring shanzhuang, yet Feng Tingshen still hadn’t shown up.
He hadn’t even called her once.
Not only him—after Feng Jingxin sneaked away yesterday, she hadn’t contacted Rong Ci either.
But she had no intention of telling the old lady this.
To avoid trouble.
She said, “Yes.”
Hearing this, Feng’s grandmother relaxed: “Good.”
After inquiring about the old lady’s health, they ended the call.
After sunset, Rong Ci ate dinner at the hot spring shanzhuang.
The old lady said Feng Tingshen would come pick her up, but Rong Ci waited until nearly nine at night, and Feng Tingshen still didn’t appear.
The hot spring shanzhuang was far from her home; the drive back would take over an hour and a half.
Rong Ci didn’t want to wait any longer.
She asked the shanzhuang to arrange a car to take her home.
In the car, Rong Ci grew drowsy.
After some time, she was suddenly awakened by the ring of her phone.
It was Chu Zilan calling.
Rong Ci answered: “Zilan?”
“Holy shit, you bitch!”
Rong Ci paused; Chu Zilan quickly added, “Don’t mind it—I’m cursing someone else.”
“What happened?”
“Didn’t I have a charity gala tonight? I ran into your bastard father and Lin Wu and the others!”
“Just now at the gala, a girl yelled at Lin Wu, calling her a bitch for stealing her fiancé, then dumped a whole glass of red wine on her—it got really messy. The girl came from a good family and kept making a scene. I was just watching the drama when suddenly your husband showed up!”
Rong Ci paused, then heard Chu Zilan grit her teeth: “This was a star-studded charity gala, live-streamed. Even though Lin Wu and the others aren’t big celebrities, when he showed up to defend her and carried her away, the cameras caught it and broadcast it—”
Chu Zilan sent her the live-stream video.
Rong Ci opened it.
The gala had musical performances—loud and chaotic—and the camera was far away; she couldn’t make out what anyone was saying.
But the video clearly showed the girl approaching Lin Wu, arguing with her, and dousing her in red wine.
Then the girl’s fiancé arrived, blocking her, and they began to argue.
Soon after, the girl’s family arrived too.
Chu Zilan was right—the girl’s family was wealthy; they treated the Lin family with extreme arrogance. Lin Lihai lowered his posture, trying to reason with them, but the girl’s family refused to listen and launched a furious verbal assault.
The Lin family’s expressions darkened immediately.
They’d clearly been insulted.
At that moment, Feng Tingshen appeared.
He immediately took off his coat and draped it over Lin Wu, then spoke a few words to the girl’s elders before picking her up and walking away without looking back.
From the moment Feng Tingshen appeared to protect Lin Wu, the girl’s family’s expressions changed.
Seeing Feng Tingshen leave, they rushed after him as if to explain, but were blocked by the gala’s security.
In the final moments of the video, the once arrogant girl’s family looked as if they’d lost a loved one, desperately trying to mend ties with the Lin family.
The Lin family, however, shed their earlier anxiety and subservience; they gave the girl and her family not a single glance, following Feng Tingshen out in silence.
The gala, with its constellation of stars, drew exceptional attention.
Though no one recognized Lin Wu or the girl, gossip is always popular, and many people followed the incident.
And once it became known that the man who "rescued" Lin Wu was Feng Tingshen, the video's popularity exploded.
【Holy shit—is this handsome guy really the genius entrepreneur Feng Tingshen?】
【Wait, news only told me Feng Tingshen came from a wealthy family and founded multiple companies young—but no one said he was this hot!】
【No wonder—he’s always been so low-key; we’ve only heard his name, never seen his face!】
After learning the full story, netizens:
【So this girl caught her boyfriend cheating… on Feng Zong’s girlfriend?】
【I know the girl’s fiancé—he’s got a great family and looks, sure—but compared to Feng Zong?… After all, he’s Feng Zong! Forget family background and talent—even their faces and aura aren’t even on the same level!】
As the popularity spread, Lin Wu's fans recognized her.
【Got her PhD from a top-three global university at 25, race car driver, adventurer, hacker… this resume? My god—is this sister really that wild? This is a main female character from a xianxia novel come to life!】
【I heard last time Sister went to a race, Feng Zong showed up to cheer for her—look at his gaze in those photos! Full of admiration and pride for his girlfriend!】
【I saw it! Ugh, seeing this beautiful sister’s resume and then Feng Zong… they’re clearly made for each other! Ugh, Feng Zong’s young, a top entrepreneur, and has such great taste in girlfriends—I’m so jealous!】
【So, could a beautiful sister like this, with a boyfriend like Feng Zong, really go chasing after some other guy’s fiancé? Impossible—she’s not blind!】
【In the video, it was the girl’s fiancé who went over to greet the beautiful sister first. I think the girl’s nervous about her boyfriend, sure—but to just randomly pick a fight and dump wine on someone? That’s way too much.】
【Exactly! Sometimes being too charming isn’t a good thing—look at this beautiful sister, she got dragged into this nonsense just because she’s too attractive! Hahaha~】
Seeing this, Rong Ci stopped watching and closed the webpage.
Feng’s grandmother said she’d contacted Feng Tingshen and asked him to come pick her up at the hot spring shanzhuang.
But now it was past ten, and Feng Tingshen hadn’t called once, let alone come to pick her up.
Still, Feng Tingshen might have intended to come for her.
He’d just been distracted by Lin Wu’s incident, rushed to her rescue, and forgotten about her.
Rong Ci didn’t dwell on it; when she got home at eleven, she took a shower and fell straight to sleep.
She slept without dreams.
