Chapter 601: Making an Issue of It
Feng Tingshen looked at Lin Wu; seeing that she was in low spirits, he declined: “I have other plans. Another time.”
Lin Wu noticed that Feng Tingshen was attending to her mood, and her spirits lifted instantly; a slow smile spread across her face.
Ren Ji and Ye Qiuyu also realized that Lin Wu truly did not want to join Rong Ci and the others for dinner.
Seeing how Feng Tingshen cared for her emotions, they both felt reassured.
Since Feng Tingshen was not going, no one else pressed the matter.
As for Rong Ci and Yu Moxun, whether Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu came or not made no difference to them—though if they didn’t come, they’d be even happier, since the two of them were genuinely quite bothersome.
That day, though Rong Ci, Feng Tingshen, and Lin Wu were all present in the venue, they had no interaction with one another.
That evening, after finishing their duties, Rong Ci and Yu Moxun returned to their hotel to rest—only to encounter Lian Ningyu on their floor.
Lian Ningyu was somewhat surprised to see them and greeted them with a smile: “Director Yu, Director Rong, what a coincidence.”
Rong Ci and Yu Moxun nodded silently.
It really was a coincidence.
But all guests attending the tech conference stayed at one of these nearby hotels; running into each other was normal.
Lian Ningyu was about to speak, but Yu Moxun interrupted: “We’re heading back to rest. Director Lian, please make yourself at home.”
Without waiting for Lian Ningyu to reply, he turned to Rong Ci and said: “Rest well. See you tomorrow.”
Rong Ci: “Mm.”
Then they each entered their rooms, directly across from one another.
Lian Ningyu was taken aback.
They didn’t even share a room?
After returning to his room, Lian Ningyu received a call from Lian Ningqi, who said she’d left something behind and asked him to have someone deliver it to her.
Yes, Lian Ningqi, Feng Tingshen, and Lin Wu had originally stayed at the same hotel as Rong Ci and the others—but after learning Rong Ci was there, Feng Tingshen arranged for them to switch hotels.
Upon learning this, Lian Ningqi moved as well.
Lian Ningqi also knew Lin Wu had been in low spirits all day.
She told Lian Ningyu: “Rong Ci stole from Xiao Wu the very opportunity to enter Changmo, and repeatedly interfered to prevent Master Nan Zhizhi from taking Xiao Wu as his student—so she alone could claim the guidance of both Yu Moxun and Master Nan Zhizhi, and achieve what she has today.”
These opportunities rightfully belonged to Xiao Wu. Not only did Rong Ci snatch them away, but today she stole the spotlight entirely, drawing nothing but praise from everyone around—how could Xiao Wu not be heartbroken? If it were me, I couldn’t bear it either.”
Lian Ningyu had no interest in the details of the conflict between Rong Ci and Lin Wu; after all, he had no real connection to Lin Wu.
At this, he remained silent.
Lian Ningqi asked again: “Did you run into them?”
“Just now,” Lian Ningyu paused, then said: “But they’re not sharing a room.”
Lian Ningqi was momentarily stunned, surprised.
But she quickly understood: “She and Tingshen haven’t finalized their divorce yet. No matter how close she is with Yu Moxun now, others only see the surface. Everyone’s staying at these few hotels—they’re probably afraid that if Tingshen and Xiao Wu find out, they’ll make an issue of it.”
She’s keeping Tingshen and Xiao Wu at arm’s length. She’s being quite cautious.”
Though Feng Tingshen and Rong Ci had already agreed on their divorce, given their current marital dynamic, it was easy to understand why Rong Ci would be wary of Feng Tingshen.
