Chapter 602: Taking Care of Her Mood
The next morning, Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu arrived at the venue and soon prepared to leave, returning to Ducheng.
Lian Ningqi knew that Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu’s trip had originally been scheduled for two days.
Upon learning they were leaving early, Lian Ningqi didn’t try to dissuade them; she merely glanced toward Rong Ci, who remained wildly popular, and smirked: “You and Tingshen have already achieved your goals for coming to this conference. Leaving early is better—avoids having to see certain people and getting annoyed.”
Lin Wu hummed in agreement.
Ren Jifeng and Ye Qiuyu had also heard that last night, to avoid seeing Rong Ci and the others, Lin Wu and Feng Tingshen had moved overnight to a different hotel.
Now that they learned Lin Wu was leaving early, Ye Qiuyu came over specifically to say goodbye.
He guessed it was likely because Rong Ci had stolen the spotlight, leaving Lin Wu emotionally unsettled; otherwise, given how rare an opportunity this was to network with other scholars, and since their itinerary had already been set, why would they suddenly decide to leave early?
He didn’t urge her to stay.
After all, even as an outsider, he felt furious seeing Rong Ci, who had done so many dirty things, receive nothing but praise and admiration—how much more painful and lonely must it be for Lin Wu, the one directly hurt?
He simply said: “After you get back to Ducheng, let’s get together when you have time?”
Lin Wu smiled and nodded: “Okay.”
Ye Qiuyu didn’t want to intrude further and turned to leave.
Lian Ningqi had only just learned yesterday that Ye Qiuyu was the one who originally recommended Lin Wu to Changmo.
Yesterday, when Ye Qiuyu came over to catch up with Lin Wu, she hadn’t thought much of it; now, watching his retreating figure, she smiled and lightly elbowed Lin Wu’s waist: “Your senior seems to like you.”
Lin Wu frowned: “Don’t talk nonsense.”
Lian Ningqi, about to press further since Lin Wu denied it, spotted Gu Yan.
Gu Yan saw them too.
Seeing Lian Ningqi was there, he nodded in greeting, then turned and walked away.
This wasn’t the first time Lian Ningqi and Lin Wu had seen Gu Yan at the Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference.
But neither side had ever exchanged greetings.
Lian Ningqi had realized Gu Yan’s attention was now entirely fixed on Rong Ci.
It left a bitter taste in her heart.
She frowned: “I never expected he’d change his feelings so quickly. And knowing you and Rong Ci don’t get along, he still fixates on her.”
In truth, calling Gu Yan fickle was somewhat unfair; after all, when he returned to China and joined Changmo, Lin Wu and Feng Tingshen had already been together for about two years.
Lin Wu said nothing, but gripped her water bottle tightly.
At that moment, Feng Tingshen walked over: “Say goodbye to your friends?”
Lin Wu smiled: “Yeah, let’s go.”
Feng Tingshen nodded, bid Lian Ningqi farewell, and they turned to leave the venue.
Rong Ci and Yu Moxun paid no attention to Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu’s early departure—they didn’t even know at first. Only when someone nearby tried to find Feng Tingshen for a matter, searched everywhere, and couldn’t locate him, did they learn he and Lin Wu had already left.
“Wasn’t the plan to stay the full two days? Why leave early?”
“I heard Feng Zong’s girlfriend hasn’t been feeling well these past two days. Feng Zong left early to take care of her mood.”
