Chapter 61

~6 min read 1,178 words

Due to angle and height issues, everyone else in the video call could only see that the person entering from the door had an excellent figure and graceful, composed posture.

Just from their bearing, everyone knew the person was no ordinary individual.

But they couldn’t see their face.

At first, everyone in the company assumed Rong Ci and Yu Moxun were in some kind of romantic relationship.

Later, they learned Rong Ci was already married and her children were quite grown.

Still, Rong Ci rarely spoke about these personal matters.

Everyone knew absolutely nothing about Rong Ci’s husband.

Because Rong Ci was so stunningly beautiful, and the longer people worked with her, the more they realized her abilities far exceeded their initial expectations—even surpassing Yu Moxun’s.

So everyone was quite curious about her husband, wondering what kind of man could have married such a beautiful, exceptionally capable woman.

Now Rong Ci’s husband had finally appeared—but Rong Ci turned the camera away.

Su Yuquan and the others were about to tease them, but before they could speak, Feng Tingshen spoke first: “Still busy?”

Rong Ci turned her head toward him: “Mm.”

Feng Tingshen nodded, said nothing, went to the wardrobe to fetch clothes, and entered the bathroom to shower.

Rong Ci watched him go, then refocused on the matter at hand.

There were two other women in their group.

They couldn’t help telling Rong Ci: “Your husband’s voice is so nice.”

Feng Tingshen wasn’t just good-looking.

His voice was also exceptionally refined.

Hearing them praise Feng Tingshen, Rong Ci didn’t know what to say, so she simply replied: “Thank you…”

It was already quite late; though everyone still felt like continuing to work, overworking wasn’t good, so Yu Moxun planned to finish the remaining tasks and end the meeting, leaving the rest for tomorrow or the day after.

Even the closing tasks would take them a while.

Indeed, Feng Tingshen had already finished showering and come out of the bathroom, yet they hadn’t finished.

Seeing her busy, Feng Tingshen didn’t speak.

But Feng Jingxin returned.

“Mama—”

Rong Ci turned at the sound, looking toward the door; before she could speak, Feng Tingshen spoke first: “Mama is working.”

Hearing this, Feng Jingxin swallowed her words, walked over to Feng Tingshen’s side, and leaned close to whisper: “Dad, can I sleep with Aunt Wu tonight?”

Feng Tingshen nodded: “Yes.”

Feng Jingxin happily wrapped her arms around Feng Tingshen’s neck, forgetting to lower her voice: “Thank you, Dad!”

Fortunately, Rong Ci’s work had just ended; she turned off her camera, looked at Feng Jingxin, and was about to speak—when she saw Lin Wu standing at the door.

Rong Ci froze, lips tightening.

Feng Jingxin and Feng Tingshen also noticed Lin Wu.

Feng Tingshen stood up and walked out; soon after, the two left side by side.

Feng Jingxin watched them go, wanting to follow—but seeing Rong Ci’s tight lips and troubled expression, she didn’t go after them, only whispered softly: “Mama…”

Rong Ci turned her gaze back, gathering her documents and books as she asked: “Did you shower?”

“Yes.”

Rong Ci didn’t ask who helped her bathe; she asked: “Are you sleepy?”

“I am…”

“Then go to sleep.”

Feng Jingxin exhaled in relief: “Okay, Mama, you rest early too.”

“Mm, I will. Good night.”

“Good night, Mama.”

Saying that, Feng Jingxin walked over, hugged Rong Ci, then left happily.

Rong Ci finished tidying up, took her clothes, and prepared to shower.

Neither Feng Tingshen nor Feng Jingxin had closed the door when they left.

Rong Ci assumed Feng Tingshen wouldn’t return; as she approached to shut the door, she ran straight into him as he turned back.

Rong Ci paused, stepping aside.

She thought he’d come back for something.

After all, his luggage was here.

But when Feng Tingshen entered, he casually closed the door behind him.

This posture suggested he wasn’t leaving tonight.

Rong Ci was startled.

Before she could say anything, Feng Tingshen stepped past her and went inside.

As he passed her, Rong Ci sharply caught the scent of Lin Wu’s perfume on him.

And…

A faint lip print stained the collar of his pajamas.

He’d just showered, and his pajamas were freshly changed—no need to look closely; the perfume and lip print on him were clearly from moments ago, when they’d gone out.

When she first saw him, she’d thought his lips looked redder than usual—she’d assumed it was her imagination.

Now it was clear it wasn’t.

Feng Tingshen had already sat down beside the bed.

He clearly intended to stay overnight.

That surprised Rong Ci.

She’d thought—

Still, with Old Lady’s eyes watching, it made sense he wouldn’t sleep with Lin Wu tonight.

So… Lin Wu came here herself just now because she was worried about him and her?

Worried something might happen between them?

And Feng Tingshen understood Lin Wu’s concerns—given the lingering perfume and lip print on him, they’d clearly shared a passionate kiss just now—

Rong Ci stopped thinking.

Half an hour later, when she stepped out of the bathroom, Feng Tingshen was reading.

But the book in his hand was one she’d brought.

She frowned, annoyed by his taking it without asking; she was about to speak when he looked up, perhaps noticing her expression, and said: “Mind?”

Rong Ci did mind.

But the book contained no company secrets—only her own marginal notes from her first reading—so she calmed down and said: “A little.”

Feng Tingshen looked at her and said: “Alright, I’ll ask next time.”

Next time?

She didn’t think their current relationship would ever again force them into such a situation—sharing a bed while away.

Feng Tingshen had already returned his attention to the book, then suddenly remarked: “Your notes are good.”

He was complimenting her.

But Rong Ci pretended not to hear, took the hairdryer, and went back into the bathroom to dry her hair.

When she came out after drying her hair, Feng Tingshen was still reading.

After finishing her skincare routine, Rong Ci lay down on the other side of the bed, preparing to rest.

Feng Tingshen didn’t sleep right away; she didn’t know when he finally did.

Because she fell asleep quickly.

The next morning, she woke very early.

The sun had just risen.

But the other side of the bed was empty.

The room was quiet.

Feng Tingshen had already left.

He was gone so early…

Perhaps he hadn’t slept in the room at all last night.

She’d arranged to return to the company with Yu Moxun.

After breakfast, she packed her things and left with her suitcase.

As she opened the door, she heard Feng Jingxin’s voice from the hallway: “Aunt Wu is so mean—she promised to sleep with me last night, then woke up in the middle of the night and went back to her own room.”

Feng Jingxin was complaining to Liu Shen.

Hearing this, Rong Ci could now be certain Feng Tingshen hadn’t slept with her last night—he’d gone to Lin Wu’s room.

Couldn’t even last one night? How intense is that?
