Chapter 83: Does Little Ci Have a Boyfriend?
After hanging up the phone, Rong Ci returned to work mode.
By nine o’clock at night, after her mind had been cleansed by knowledge, Rong Ci’s mood had improved considerably.
At that moment, Yu Moxun called.
“Feel like going out?”
Half an hour later, Rong Ci arrived at the bar.
Yu Moxun came to the door to meet her and asked, “Want something to drink?”
Rong Ci paused, then said, “Sure, let’s have something.”
Yu Moxun leaned closer to look at her. “Feeling down?”
“I’m feeling much better now.”
Yu Moxun didn’t press further and ordered her a low-to-mid-strength blue cocktail.
Rong Ci held it in her hand, sipping slowly while listening to Yu Moxun chat with his friends.
Neither she nor Yu Moxun noticed that someone upstairs at the bar was watching them.
Yao Xinbo: “So it’s her and Yu Moxun.”
The man beside him followed his gaze and, upon seeing Rong Ci, froze.
Yao Xinbo noticed and smiled. “Your type?”
His friend didn’t answer, only asked, “Do you know her?”
“Yeah,” he said. “She’s the girl I told you about a couple days ago—the one Ji Feng initially liked, then suddenly lost interest in.”
His friend looked at Rong Ci. Though their bar wasn’t chaotic, her demeanor was cool and clean; beneath the swirling colored lights and pounding music, she stood out even more—calm, gentle, as if she’d accidentally wandered in.
Yu Moxun asked Rong Ci, “Feel like dancing?”
Rong Ci didn’t know how to dance, but she wanted to try. “Okay.”
In the dance floor, under Yu Moxun’s lead, she swayed to the music for over a minute, gradually relaxing, swaying her body lightly.
She’d had a few drinks, slightly tipsy; the alcohol flushed her cheeks pink, her eyes glossy and beautiful, her glances subtly more alluring than usual…
Yao Xinbo muttered “Damn,” and said, “Miss Rong may not have that wild, conqueror’s allure like Miss Lin, but she’s pure, sensual, and fresh—absolutely a goddess!”
His friend said nothing.
At that moment, Rong Ci felt her phone vibrate.
She didn’t stop dancing, but pulled out her phone and glanced at the caller ID—then froze.
Yu Moxun noticed her expression and leaned over to look. His scalp prickled. “It’s Teacher!”
Rong Ci and Yu Moxun quickly left the dance floor.
As they left, Rong Ci accidentally looked up and saw Yao Xinbo and a handsome young man sitting beside him.
Rong Ci didn’t know Yao Xinbo well and immediately looked away, then stepped outside with Yu Moxun to answer the call. Her voice was timid from the start: “Teacher…”
“Come pick me up tomorrow at noon.”
Rong Ci blinked. “Huh?”
The line had already been hung up.
Yu Moxun hurriedly asked, “What did Teacher say?”
Rong Ci: “He told me to pick him up tomorrow at noon.”
“Didn’t say what for? Didn’t ask you to bring me along?”
Rong Ci shook her head.
Yu Moxun checked his phone—Nan Zhizhi hadn’t contacted him. He instantly felt hurt. “Teacher’s biased.”
In the lively atmosphere of the bar, one could truly relax.
Rong Ci’s mood had improved; she reached out and pressed her hand against his chest. “Feeling better?”
“Not yet. You pay for tonight’s bill, then I’ll feel better.”
“Got it.”
Of course, it was a joke.
Yu Moxun would never let Rong Ci pay.
Moreover, he worried Nan Zhizhi might find out he’d taken Rong Ci to a bar. After settling the bill, he left with her.
The next noon.
Rong Ci drove to Nan Zhizhi’s villa to pick him up.
After he got in the car, she asked, “Teacher, where are we going?”
Nan Zhizhi gave an address.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the restaurant and were led to a private room.
When they opened the door, two men were already seated inside.
Two middle-aged men with formidable presence.
They stood up as they entered. “You’re here.”
“Ren Yi, Ji Huanying,” Nan Zhizhi introduced them with his usual cold demeanor. “My student, Rong Ci.”
Rong Ci had seen them on the news.
One was a towering figure in the military; the other, a major political power.
Yet their attitude toward her was gentle as they shook her hand. “Long time to finally meet you.”
Though confused, Rong Ci remained composed, shaking their hands in turn, respectfully replying, “I should be the one saying that.”
Ren Yi and Ji Huanying smiled and gestured for her to sit.
After she sat, Ren Yi said, “We’ve known about you for years and always hoped Nan Academician would introduce us. But everyone’s been too busy—never had the chance. Recently, our teams studied the system you developed a few days ago, and now that we both have free time, we thought we’d invite you to dinner and meet you in person.”
After pleasantries, Rong Ci began chatting with them.
They talked about the system, chips, energy…
Nan Zhizhi sat quietly, eating and drinking tea, barely participating.
Over an hour later, Ren Yi poured Rong Ci a cup of tea; she quickly accepted it.
Ren Yi set down the teapot, his gaze deep with experience, yet gentle as he looked at Rong Ci. “If I remember right, you’re in your twenties, little Ci?”
Rong Ci nodded. “Yes, twenty-five.”
“So young,” Ji Huanying said, understanding Ren Yi’s intent immediately. “Do you have a boyfriend?”
Rong Ci paused. “I’m married.”
I’m about to divorce.
But before Ren Yi and Ji Huanying, she didn’t elaborate on her personal affairs.
Both Ren Yi and Ji Huanying were clearly surprised.
But they weren’t ordinary people.
When Rong Ci mentioned her marriage, a flicker of emotion passed through her eyes—clearly, her marriage had problems.
Meaning, divorce was likely.
Hmm. Perhaps my son still has a chance.
There were countless noble daughters eager to enter the Ren or Ji families.
Ordinary heiresses couldn’t even get through the door—let alone a divorced woman.
But Rong Ci was different.
Rong Ci was too talented.
The technology Chang Mo currently held would propel its growth unstoppable in the coming years.
Not to mention that Nan Zhizhi’s future position would very likely be inherited by Rong Ci.
In other words, Rong Ci’s future was limitless.
Moreover, though young and accomplished, she remained calm and gentle, without a trace of arrogance—a rarity among the young.
The more they looked, the more they liked her.
Nan Zhizhi listened, then finally lifted his head and gave them a cold, piercing glance.
