Chapter 94: Absolutely Advantageous to You

~6 min read 1,150 words

He asked, “Zhangbai? Are you busy?”

He Zhangbai: “No.”

Qi Yuming: “Oh… by the way, are you coming back on Tuesday?”

He Zhangbai paused: “Mm.”

Before Qi Yuming could speak, He Zhangbai cut in: “Let’s end it here.”

“Alright, let me know when you get back—I’ll come pick you up and take you to see Lin Wu.”

He Zhangbai: “...Alright.”

The next day.

Rong Ci woke up, ran for nearly half an hour, then came home to eat breakfast before heading out.

When she arrived at the law firm, Yu Moxun was already there.

Seeing her, Yu Moxun waved at her.

Rong Ci sat down; the assistant to Attorney Pei Xuchen brought her tea and she handed him the divorce agreement.

Pei Xuchen took it.

Yu Moxun and Pei Xuchen had been close friends for years; he leaned over to take a look.

When he saw the first clause regarding custody of Feng Jingxin, he glanced at Rong Ci.

Several years ago, he had met Feng Jingxin a few times.

Rong Ci treated her like her very life—she always talked on the phone about how her daughter was doing.

But since she decided to divorce Feng Tingshen and return to Changmo, she had never once brought up her daughter Xinxin in front of him.

Noticing this, he had already guessed that during the past year Feng Jingxin had spent abroad with Feng Tingshen, she had likely formed a bond with Lin Wu—and possibly done something that broke Rong Ci’s heart.

Seeing that she only had the lawyer focus on loopholes in the property division and showed no interest in custody, Yu Moxun knew she intended to give up her daughter.

He didn’t ask further.

In his view, Rong Ci was a gentle, emotionally deep person.

If she was willing to abandon her own daughter, it meant she was utterly heartbroken by her.

Thinking this, Yu Moxun stopped dwelling on it and moved on to the rest of the document.

After a moment, he raised an eyebrow: “So much real estate? Huh, to be fair, Feng Tingshen is being generous.”

Rong Ci sipped her tea, saying nothing.

Yu Moxun flipped through a few pages, then stopped bothering Pei Xuchen and came over to sit beside Rong Ci, chatting about her thesis.

They only shared a small portion, using coded language only the two of them understood.

Pei’s assistant was utterly confused.

As for Pei, he was carefully reviewing the agreement with Rong Ci.

Over an hour later.

Pei Xuchen told Rong Ci: “I’ve double-checked—the agreement has no issues. In fact, it’s absolutely advantageous to you.”

Rong Ci paused: “What do you mean?”

“The cash is obvious,” Pei said. “The real estate is clearly stated to have no ownership disputes. As for the shares in Feng Tingshen’s company he’s giving you, the document explicitly states you’re entitled only to dividends; should any legal liabilities or compensation arise from the company, they rest solely on Feng Tingshen himself—none of it concerns you.”

Rong Ci froze.

Yu Moxun widened his eyes: “You’re sure you didn’t misread? Can Feng Tingshen really be this decent?”

Pei smiled: “Are you questioning my professional competence, Xiao Xun?”

Yu Moxun: “...Not exactly.”

He was just too shocked.

Rong Ci was surprised.

But not overly so.

Over the years of their marriage, Feng Tingshen had always been cold toward her and rarely helped her.

But knowing him as she did, if he was giving her something, he’d likely remove all possible future burdens for her.

So she had someone review the contract not because she suspected him of trickery, but because she feared hidden loopholes.

Thinking this, she said calmly: “Good, then there’s no problem.”

She picked up the pen beside her and signed her name without hesitation.

She told Pei Xuchen: “I’ll leave the rest of the divorce proceedings to you, Attorney Pei.”

Pei nodded: “I have a meeting soon, but this afternoon I’ll contact Feng Tingshen to arrange the next steps.”

Rong Ci: “Alright.”

It was nearly lunchtime; after eating with Pei Xuchen, Rong Ci and Yu Moxun went to Rong Ci’s place to continue working on their thesis.

While Rong Ci and Yu Moxun were busy, Feng Tingshen, back in his office at Feng Corporation, had just started reviewing documents when his phone rang.

He picked it up casually: “Hello, who’s this?”

“Mr. Feng Tingshen, this is Attorney Pei, Rong Ci’s lawyer. Ms. Rong Ci has signed the divorce agreement. She has entrusted me to handle all subsequent divorce matters. Do you have time now?”

Feng Tingshen paused, then lowered his gaze: “I have two video meetings this afternoon—I’m stretched too thin. Come to Feng Corporation tomorrow morning around ten.”

Pei Xuchen said: “Understood, thank you for your cooperation. Goodbye.”

After hanging up, Feng Tingshen returned to his documents.

Night had fallen.

Yu Moxun had other business and left first.

Rong Ci planned to return to the Rong residence for dinner, so she grabbed her bag and stepped out.

As soon as she got in the car, Feng Jingxin called.

She didn’t need to guess why Feng Jingxin was calling.

Rong Ci didn’t want to deal with her now, so she didn’t answer.

Feng Jingxin called two or three times in a row; seeing Rong Ci wouldn’t pick up, she stopped.

When Rong Ci arrived at the Rong family villa compound, it was peak vehicle entry/exit time.

She stopped her car and waited behind other residents for the system to recognize her vehicle.

Just then, someone tapped on her window.

Rong Ci turned her head.

It was He Zhangbai.

Rong Ci froze.

She hadn’t expected to run into him here.

She slowly rolled down her window: “Mr. He.”

He Zhangbai’s gaze settled on her face; seeing her calm expression, with no trace of the exhaustion he’d anticipated, he hesitated.

Rong Ci spoke: “Mr. He, is there something you need?”

He Zhangbai said: “I came here on business, saw your car, and thought I’d say hello.”

But given their level of familiarity, even if they met like this, he had no real reason to come over and greet her.

He thought this, but since he’d helped her before, she didn’t say it.

Besides, she’d still need to see him when she visited Dan Dan.

They weren’t friends, but making their relationship too tense wouldn’t be wise.

Thinking this, Rong Ci nodded: “Then I’ll let you get on with your—”

He Zhangbai: “I heard there’s a famous pastry shop here. I’ve never been around much—searched everywhere but couldn’t find it. Do you know its exact location?”

Rong Ci didn’t suspect anything and replied: “There is a famous pastry shop here, but it’s not on this street—it’s a kilometer away on another street.”

Rong Ci pointed out the direction.

He Zhangbai said: “Thanks.”

“No problem.” At that moment, her car was recognized; she said: “Goodbye.”

He Zhangbai: “Goodbye.”
