Chapter 29: Witch Conference

~7 min read 1,253 words

"We witches will never submit to anyone! Never!"

"Just because of your words, you want all these witches to submit to humans, Famic—how many favors has the human king given you! Traitor."

"."

The Witch Conference was clearly not proceeding smoothly.

When Famic's recruitment speech for the witches began, even before it was fully explained, many witches on the spot immediately spoke fiercely and began to question.

As a witch herself, Famic naturally understood why they suddenly became so agitated.

Although, as witches, they possess power far beyond ordinary imagination, they are also feared by the world.

In some countries and regions, witches are essentially synonymous with evil.

Therefore they are often subjected to campaigns by human kingdoms or regional crusades.

Among the witches of Ao Ge Si Bo Ge, there are many who were hunted or driven out by humans and fled here.

And the most vehement opposition comes from this group of witches.

As the apparent initiator of this Witch Conference, Famic naturally would not let such chaos continue.

This would deal a huge blow to her prestige and image, and she also worries that her abilities might not gain Fulade's approval.

After all, as one of the conditions for allegiance, she would take over Ao Ge Si Bo Ge, the leadership of all witches, becoming the witch leader.

Famic naturally needs to demonstrate her worth, proving she truly possesses this power.

"Clack~ clack~ clack."

It was a crisp footstep sound, black high‑cut leather boots, moving with Famic's long, shapely, straight legs, repeatedly lifting and dropping, clearly echoing throughout the conference venue.

In an instant, the whole venue could hear it clearly.

In just a moment, the venue's clamor was quickly suppressed, and everyone's gaze fixed tightly on Witch Famic's long, plump calves, eyes wide with shock.

Famic, with a slightly haughty expression, looked toward the gathered witches:

"Now, we can—have a proper talk, right!"

Everyone present were experts; when they saw Famic wield this sound‑wave witchcraft so casually, playing with it at will, they immediately recognized her strength.

Seeing the suddenly audible venue, Famic's mouth twitched slightly with a hint of smugness.

At the same time, she grew even more reverent toward Fulade.

The reason she could be so relaxed is ultimately because she consumed and merged Fulade's blood, which greatly increased her power, directly promoting her into the ranks of high‑level Dark Witch.

Regarding Fulade, Famic no longer feels any repulsion; on the contrary, she feels a sincere submission toward Fulade.

"You all—want to become as strong as I am, right?"

"Do you want to live in the sunlight, no longer chased or hunted by humans!"

"Do you want to be like me, no longer corrupted by the power of bloodline witchcraft!"

"."

With each seductive, resonant, powerful voice that rang out, along with boundless visions of future life,

it instantly attracted the attention of many witches.

She watched the witches before her, each stirred by her words, blood boiling, faces excited.

Famic cast a smug glance toward the figure atop the peak behind her, her long eyebrows raised high, mouth slightly upturned.

It seemed she was saying to Fulade: "How about it, choosing me isn't a loss."

Seeing Famic's slightly smug, slightly provocative gaze seeking affirmation, Fulade merely gave a faint smile.

Because Fulade knows the matter cannot end so simply.

Just as Famic thought the situation was under her control and no further surprises would occur, a voice suddenly rang out.

"Don't be fooled by this bitch." "There's no free pie falling from the sky; don't forget how many of you have been deceived by human promises."

"And how many witches have perished from naively trusting humans."

These words instantly doused the witches' hopeful expectations for the future, cooling the fire in their hearts.

They turned doubtful gazes toward Famic, while only a small fraction of her supporters still held their stance, expressing trust in Famic.

In an instant, the witches in the venue split into three factions: the opposition, the supporters, and the neutral.

The opponents accused Famic's supporters of being too naive, not understanding human treachery.

Famic's supporters, however, believed that as one of their own she would not harm them, and saw this as a good chance to change the witches' current situation.

The neutrals stood at the periphery watching the spectacle, occasionally letting out a few mocking laughs—quite lively.

Watching the two groups quarrel, Famic, who had previously seemed somewhat smug, now had a face as black as a pot bottom.

A sharp gaze shot into the crowd.

There stood, among the crowd, an ugly old witch with withered yellow skin like dry bark, smiling at her with a sinister grin.

Famic naturally recognized her, and had even previously felt some sympathy for her past.

After all, a beautiful woman in her thirties deceived by humans, causing her witchcraft to backfire and turning her into this state, indeed evokes sympathy.

But she absolutely should not have ruined the situation she had barely managed to salvage.

A flash of lethal intent passed through Famic's eyes.

The previously barren mid‑mountain platform began to tremble inexplicably, massive cracks spreading; before the witches could react, several huge emerald vines, like serpents, burst through the hard rock, instantly coiling around the ugly witch to strangle her.

The sheer force of the sound immediately drew the witches' attention.

The ugly witch seemed to have anticipated; as the serpentine vines were about to fully envelop and strangle her, a burst of flame shot upward from her body.

In an instant, the encroaching bizarre vines were burned in the scorching fire, and the ugly witch seized the moment to escape.

At that moment, several witches nearby, caught off guard, were instantly engulfed, burning in the flames and emitting mournful cries.

Then, more vines burning in the fire struck them, their bodies turning into several severed pieces, completely dead.

The scene before them instantly caused a stir among the witches.

And since she had already chosen to act, Famic naturally would not show mercy.

She, who had been prepared, at the moment the ugly Witch just rushed out of the sea of fire, was instantly struck by a cluster of huge scorching flames coming head-on, letting out miserable screams, and was immediately knocked down from midair.

Just as Famic was about to wave her magic wand to fully understand this Witch, knowing she was gravely injured and no match, unable to escape from this ugly Witch, she panicked instantly.

She immediately let out hysterical screams, intending to create chaos in order to seize the chance to escape.

"Famic has already become angry out of embarrassment and wants to eliminate dissenters."

"What are you waiting for, waiting for her to clean you up one by one later?"

Upon hearing these words, Famic's face changed instantly.

The hand that was about to wave the magic wand also stopped immediately.

For a moment, the magic short staff was surrounded by blue electric arcs—neither to be thrown nor not thrown—and it froze in place all at once.

And when the witches heard these words, they immediately all went on alert.

However, it was clearly not the old Witch who had been affected; just a few words had already thrown her mind into great turmoil.

No matter what, anyone capable of becoming a Witch is certainly no true fool.

It cannot be like in the movies, where everyone seems to lack intelligence, after all that is just a need of cinematic art, not reality.
