Chapter 38: From Now On, You Shall Be Called Siren

~7 min read 1,377 words

"What did you say." Fulade's heart startled, and he turned to look at Mina.

"I said, this is Granny's witchcraft scroll. I saw Granny burn it before," Mina said, looking somewhat puzzled at this moment.

"Are you sure you didn't see it wrong, Mina?" Fulade confirmed.

Mina carefully examined it once more, and suddenly noticed some clues.

"Huh, this seems somewhat ~ not quite the same as the one Granny burned." Mina pointed at the line of writing that had been deliberately smeared and said.

Fulade hadn't expected such a turn of events — Mina actually had information about this scroll too, and his interest was immediately piqued.

He hurriedly asked what differences there were.

But Mina shook her head, saying she didn't remember very clearly anymore. At the time, she had merely asked Granny out of curiosity, and then Granny had taken it away and burned it.

Seeing Fulade looking slightly disappointed, Mina felt quite remorseful that she hadn't been able to help him, but in the next instant, she suddenly remembered something.

She hurriedly said to Fulade, "Oh right, when Granny burned this scroll back then, she said it was fortunate we weren't born in that era."

"That era? Thousands — could it be that something happened thousands of years ago?" Fulade murmured.

With no further information, Fulade didn't think about it anymore. After all, it was something from thousands of years ago and wouldn't have any impact on him.

Dispersing the thoughts from his mind, Fulade stood up, and with both hands exerting force, to Mina's startled cry, he scooped her up by the waist and walked toward the bed in the inner part of the bedroom.

The two lay intimately on the bed and caressed each other for a while before gradually falling asleep.

"Sister Mina, are you packed yet? We're about to leave."

"Alright ~ alright, just a moment."

Mina walked out the door, carrying a bulging large bundle on her back.

"Oh my ~ Sister Mina, didn't they only tell you to bring some essentials?"

"Are you trying to move everything in the house away?"

Malisika looked at the bundle behind Mina that nearly swallowed her whole, and exclaimed with her small mouth wide open in shock.

Mina clearly also felt that she had made a very foolish decision, and immediately laughed somewhat embarrassedly.

The two hurriedly placed the bundles onto the carriage parked at the door. Noticing that Fulade was not here, Mina couldn't help but ask Malisika, "Malika, where did Fulade go?" Mina asked, looking slightly puzzled.

"Master ~ had some matters to attend to, so he left temporarily for now. We'll meet up with Master in Saji Town," Malisika explained to Mina.

Mina nodded without saying more, and obediently boarded the carriage with this sister she had just met, leaving the small town where she had lived for over ten years.

On the way, they met up with Alide'anna's family and headed toward Saji Town.

The other Witches, under the lead of Witch Famic and Ailina, had already set off; it was just that the two parties' routes were not the same.

Meanwhile, Fulade was already heading toward the Jibalo Nymph's Heart-shaped Lake.

As night fell, specks of fluorescent light suddenly appeared, gradually beginning to rapidly spread throughout the entire forest. After a moment, the entire forest was immersed in dreamlike colors.

The Jibalo Nymph, just like always, sat absentmindedly on the large rock beside the Heart-shaped Lake. This had become her constant state during this period of time.

Her long, straight legs intermittently kicked at the water's surface, splashing up clusters of beautiful spray.

Threads of coolness continuously flowed into her body through her small feet, yet could never dispel the bewilderment in her heart.

Suddenly, specks of green fluorescent light rose up from the forest surrounding the Heart-shaped Lake, immediately drawing the Jibalo Nymph's attention.

Looking at the beautiful flying insects emitting green fluorescent light and dancing through the air before her, the Jibalo Nymph examined them with great curiosity, because she had never seen these glowing bugs before.

Driven by curiosity, the Nymph raised her slender arm covered in gold and gently caught one of the flying insects in her hand, examining it curiously.

On the little belly of the flying insect, green light continuously flashed, looking exactly like stars twinkling in the sky. A look of pleasant surprise appeared on the Nymph's charming face. Looking at the dreamlike beautiful scene around her and the fireflies dancing through the air, she couldn't help but want to stand up and dance gracefully.

"Do they look nice?"

A familiar, magnetic voice suddenly sounded beside her ear.

Completely unprepared, the Nymph's graceful figure suddenly tensed, and she turned to look beside her in disbelief.

At some unknown time, a tall figure had already come to her side.

"It's him!" The Nymph's pupils quivered, and her heart pounded violently.

Just as the Jibalo Nymph panicked and wanted to flee into the water, that voice spoke again:

"This is a gift I prepared for you ~ do you like it?"

The Jibalo Nymph, about to act, trembled and suddenly turned back. Her small mouth, adorned with tiny red gemstones, opened wide, revealing the little red snake inside, set with a platinum tongue stud.

"You, prepared this for me!" Her voice was slightly halting, yet extremely pleasant to hear.

Fulade stepped forward, and under the Nymph's astonished gaze, gently lifted her delicate chin, his fingers lightly rubbing her red lips covered with tiny gemstones.

"Yes, I discovered ~ I seem to have fallen for a little sprite who lives in the water, but she seems very shy and won't come out. Come tell me, what should I do?"

Hearing the man's bold confession, the Nymph immediately conjured up in her mind a picture of him preparing a surprise for her all these days.

"So these past few days, you were preparing a surprise for me?" the Nymph said, looking at Fulade with both astonishment and joy.

"What do you think, little sprite?"

"I thought ~ you had left, that you would never come back. So I just kept waiting, waiting and waiting, hoping to see you just one more time."

A crystal teardrop gradually slid from her eye. Overcome with emotion, the Nymph immediately threw herself into Fulade's arms and began to sob softly.

Looking at the scene before him, the corners of Fulade's mouth curved up slightly, with a hint of wicked charm.

Looking at the Nymph whose arms were wrapped around him, Fulade also slowly rested his hands on the Nymph's slender, delicate waist, stroking the gemstones adorning it.

"Little sprite, don't just cry. I still don't know your name," Fulade said, lowering his head beside the Nymph's ear.

The Jibalo Nymph shyly lifted her small head and slowly shook it: "I don't have a name."

"That won't do. How can you not have a name?"

"How about I give you one, alright?"

Looking at Fulade's gentle gaze, the Nymph felt as if she were about to swoon.

Yet she hadn't the slightest thought that this matter still harbored many strange and suspicious aspects. This could only mean that the Nymph was truly naive when it came to the ways of the world, and had already been completely manipulated by Fulade.

Looking at the Nymph's expectant gaze, Fulade thought for a moment.

"Hmm, how about from now on you're called Sainren, okay, little fairy?"

Fulade truly had no talent for naming; after thinking for a long time, he still just directly gave the female monster the name of the female monster Sainren from Greek mythology.

Hearing the name her beloved had chosen for her, the female monster didn't care whether it sounded good or not—she just nodded repeatedly, brimming with joy, hugging Fulade tightly and refusing to let go.

Just like that, simply holding each other quietly, it seemed as if she were already satisfied.

Seeing this, Fulade knew that the female monster Sainren was truly naive when it came to matters of the heart, so he had no choice but to take the initiative and guide her himself.

PS: Don't let your minds go dirty, everyone—it's not that kind of guiding.
