Chapter 9: The Dragon Slayer Will Ultimately Become the Evil Dragon
It looked as though the two of them had only just begun to awaken to love, currently in that hazy stage of mutual fondness.
Fulade watched the black-haired boy who kept shooting provocative glances his way, pondering to himself.
He wouldn't be staying here for long — what method could he use to make things a little harder for this boy?
According to the original plot, roughly three years later, Weiliya discovered that Luxi had fallen for her half-brother Hengli, so she forcibly separated the two.
And she betrothed Wailali to Hengli, which led to Bide wanting to elope with Wailali.
Luxi, who knew nothing of her mother's intentions, went out for a walk on the night of the full moon to soothe her heartbreak, and was killed by her father — a werewolf.
Because he discovered that Luxi could not understand the werewolf language at all, and realizing that he had been cuckolded, he then killed his own wife Weiliya.
At this thought, Fulade had an idea.
But it would be best to add an extra layer of insurance.
After all, the fresh blood of a maiden was exceedingly delicious, and with werewolf bloodlines as well, would it not be even more extraordinary?
At this thought, Fulade felt it necessary to stake his claim first, so that he could conveniently take her for himself later! Looking at Bide, who was provoking him, Fulade stood up, walked over, and said to Wailali with a smile:
"Wailali, why not invite your friend inside to sit for a while?"
Seeing Fulade approach with such gentlemanly grace to extend the invitation, Wailali — only now snapping back to attention — looked at Fulade with considerable gratitude.
She felt that inviting Fulade to their home as a guest was the best decision she had ever made.
Only because her mother, for whatever reason, had never taken a liking to Bide, so much so that she dared not get too close to Bide herself.
"Hello, Bide. You can call me Fulaide." Fulade nodded at Bide and said.
Seeing Fulade's polite and measured manner, Bide no longer felt comfortable openly antagonizing him.
"Hello, Fulade." Bide gave Fulade a slight nod, his tone rather stiff.
"Bide, hurry and come over — Brother Fulade was just telling us a very interesting story!"
Wailali said happily, then took Bide's arm and led him into the house.
Bide cast a somewhat smug glance at Fulade, then headed inside.
As Bide and Fulade locked eyes, a flash of red light gleamed in Fulade's gaze.
Bide froze for a brief moment, then regained his composure, only looking at Fulade somewhat oddly, with a faint, indescribable feeling in his heart.
"Bide, you didn't go to work today," Weiliya asked.
With a guest present today, Weiliya did not go out of her way to target Bide.
"Aunt Weiliya, the lumber mill had a holiday today, so I came back," Bide said respectfully to Weiliya.
"Hm, then why didn't your uncle come back?" Weiliya was quite puzzled.
"Uh, I'm not too sure about that." Bide scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed.
"Alright, Mother — perhaps Father went into town," Wailali said, seeing Bide's awkward expression, and hurriedly cut off her mother's intent to keep pressing the question.
"Brother Fulade, did the prince ultimately defeat the evil dragon and rescue the princess?"
Wailali cupped her tender cheeks in both hands, her large eyes sparkling with anticipation as she awaited the final answer.
Seeing that Wailali's gaze was entirely focused on Fulade — this older man — Bide instantly felt a surge of crisis and unceremoniously interrupted everyone's attention.
"Tch, what prince could defeat an evil dragon? It's definitely fake."
"Bide~!" Wailali furrowed her brow and glared at Bide.
"."
Bide's lips moved a few times; he had originally wanted to argue back, but when he saw everyone directing displeased looks his way, he immediately shrank back.
Fulade watched all of this with a smile, which only fueled the hostility of Bide, who had been keeping a close eye on Fulade — he couldn't stand the sight of Fulaide no matter what.
Fulade glanced at Bide with a smile and continued:
"The prince found the Witch. The Witch was moved by the prince's sincere feelings, and decided to help him rescue the princess. In the end, with the Witch's help, the prince endured many trials and finally found a way to defeat the evil dragon and rescue the princess."
"Tch, it's just a children's fairy tale.
I bet in the end the prince and princess lived happily together!" Bide said with a look of disdain.
"Bide~!!"
This time Wailali was genuinely a bit angry.
The first time could be called unintentional, but the second time?
Seeing Fulade's somewhat awkward expression, Wailali seemed to realize something.
Seeing Bide looking thoroughly smug at this moment, how could Wailali not understand that Bide was doing it on purpose?
Bide, who had been secretly feeling pleased with himself, suddenly saw Wailali's angry expression and snapped awake, thinking to himself that this was bad.
"Brother Fulade, please don't blame Bide — he wasn't like this before. Maybe he's feeling a bit unwell today."
Wailali looked apologetically at this older brother who made her feel so warm and comfortable, hoping Fulade wouldn't mind, and she also put in a word of defense for Bide.
Unfortunately, Bide didn't seem to appreciate it.
"It's all right — it's quite normal for Bide to think that way." Fulade acted magnanimously, as though he had no intention of blaming Bide at all.
This made the mother and two daughters' impression of Fulade improve even further. Weiliya, who had never thought much of Bide to begin with, couldn't even be bothered to glance at Bide anymore.
Even the two sisters, who were familiar with Bide, now showed him no good face.
As for Bide, he increasingly found Fulade more and more insufferable.
Taking in everything before his eyes, Fulade curled the corners of his mouth and continued: "Although I would love to give them a happy ending, the truth is, the prince in the story — though he rescued the princess — did not end up living happily with her."
"Why?" Wailali asked.
"Didn't he already rescue her?" Luxi said, somewhat puzzled.
"." Weiliya also looked at Fulade, full of curiosity.
Seeing that all three — mother and daughters — had their curiosity thoroughly aroused, Fulaide then said: "The dragon slayer will ultimately become the evil dragon!"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was instantly dumbfounded.
"You—you're saying the prince became an evil dragon!?" Wailali said in disbelief.
The others were the same—whether the mother and daughter, Weiluona, or Bide, all found it somewhat hard to believe.
Fulade nodded firmly; in truth, was this statement not also a portrait of himself?
"How can a mortal's strength defeat an evil and powerful dragon?"
"Of course—the prince also becomes a dragon! That is the Witch's method."
Everyone was shocked by Fulade's final answer and took a long time to recover; clearly, they found this ending somewhat hard to digest all at once.
"Ah~!!" "Slap~!!"
Just as everyone was still immersed in the profound shock of the story's ending, something unexpected happened.
"Luxi, what's wrong?"
Everyone hurriedly looked in the direction of the incident.
They saw Luxi's face flushed red, her expression panicked, glaring furiously at Bide, who was clutching his left cheek.
Apparently Bide had angered Luxi for some reason and been slapped by her in fury.
"He—he touched me!" Luxi cried, leaning against Weiliya's chest.
"Touched you~!!" Wailali looked at her weeping sister, then turned to Bide in disbelief.
