Chapter 102: How Did They Get Into the Camp?
As the Flesh Siege Towers made contact with the Giant Wall of the Inner City, many Orcs began to climb the Flesh Siege Towers; beneath the city wall, new Flesh Siege Towers were constantly growing rapidly, while others, destroyed by Inner City soldiers, collapsed.
"Quick, clear away those flesh structures touching the wall!"
The soldiers on the city wall used whatever weapons or abilities they had to hack apart and destroy this flesh reaching toward the wall.
But the Orcs on the opposite side began to fight without honor, as several hidden Rune Cannons opened fire on the Human Alliance soldiers atop the wall.
"Boom!"
Although the Inner City wall was constructed from materials crafted by Engravers, the power of the Orcs' Rune Cannons was not insignificant.
Following three cannon blasts, the Human Alliance soldiers on one section of the wall suffered a heavy blow; the immense power generated by the rune explosions instantly blasted them into smithereens, and even wearing Individual Combat Armor was of no help.
This sudden strike greatly boosted the morale of the Orcs attacking this sector, and they seized the opportunity to accelerate their siege, finally succeeding in climbing onto the Inner City wall.
At the same time, soldiers rushing to reinforce the area did not hesitate to pull their triggers at these detestable Orcs upon seeing them climb the wall, and several rockets also flew toward the group of Orcs.
The battlefield was filled with smoke and fire; attacks of flame and lightning flew toward the Orcs from time to time, and the Orcs who had just climbed the wall fell one after another, with large piles of corpses accumulating on the wall, forming a blood-soaked defensive line.
But the Orcs behind did not stop, continuing to climb the Inner City wall and venting their firepower at these Two-legged Sheep with the weapons in their hands.
Some Orcs even pulled out green projectiles resembling Hand Grenades and threw them toward the Inner City wall; accompanied by a series of violent explosions, a cloud of green smoke spread across the wall.
Soldiers on both sides were equipped with protective gear, but this could only block a portion of the attacks; in this meat-grinder of a battlefield, they could only manage to launch a few more attacks against the enemy.
Xindi locked onto the positions of the Rune Cannons that had just fired at the wall and immediately caused three City Defense Cannons to appear, opening fire on those three locations.
The Orcs in the middle of relocating the Rune Cannons were destroyed along with the cannons, and Xindi immediately ordered the soldiers of these City Defense Cannons to open fire on the Flesh Siege Towers touching the wall.
These soldiers operating the City Defense Cannons were also blinded by bloodlust, firing continuously as one Flesh Siege Tower after another was knocked down and destroyed.
But this firepower did not last long; in a dozen seconds, these three City Defense Cannons were destroyed.
Both sides fell into a turn-based rhythm: you fire a round, I fire a round.
Xindi personally killed several Orcs who had climbed the wall, but the situation was clearly at a disadvantage for their side; however, thanks to the additional batch of weapons, equipment, and supplies, the soldiers were at least spared from running out of ammunition while fighting the Orcs.
More and more Orcs climbed the wall, and Orcs began to scale several sections of the city wall.
"Hold the line, even if you die! Make these Orcs lose one more of their own!"
Xindi shouted loudly, electrocuting an Orc that had climbed the wall into charcoal, boosting the morale of the surrounding soldiers.
When the Orcs fired their first shots, Yingzhou exited his state of Gathering Spiritual Power; he crawled out of the tunnel and saw that these Orcs had already assembled their troops to attack the Inner City, and the current situation of the Inner City was not optimistic. He had previously heard from Xindi that the Inner City soldiers had basically only participated in one or two battles before being transferred back to the Inner City to become its defensive force.
After witnessing the power of the Rune Cannons striking the Inner City wall, Yingzhou immediately summoned Krieg Engineers and began digging toward the Orc camp. The Orcs must have a place where they produced these Rune Bullets; once that was destroyed, they could strike out from the camp and help relieve the pressure on the Inner City.
When the Krieg Engineers in the front confirmed there was no danger, Yingzhou crawled out of the tunnel.
He discovered he was in a camp, which looked like a camp for Orc soldiers.
Ten Krieg Engineers stood guard, ensuring there was no danger in the surroundings.
Yingzhou took out his Chainsword and directly summoned 170 Krieg soldiers. After arranging for ten Krieg Engineers to find important destruction targets in the Orc camp and destroy them, Yingzhou looked at the 170 Krieg soldiers crowded into the tent and said solemnly.
"Purge the Alien Race! For the Human Alliance!"
After these eight short words, Yingzhou patted one of the Krieg soldiers standing at the very front, then took out a Charge Whistle and blew it lightly.
A sharp whistle blast accompanied by the heavy footsteps of the Krieg soldiers rushed out of the tent. The first Krieg soldier to rush out was the one whose shoulder Yingzhou had patted. The 170 Krieg soldiers had seemed very crowded in this tent, but it soon became empty.
Yingzhou himself returned to the outside of the Orc camp through the tunnel dug by the Krieg Engineers.
Seeing those Orcs densely climbing the Inner City wall via the Flesh Siege Towers, a smile appeared on Yingzhou's face.
After summoning 40 Krieg Artillery and 10 Basilisk Self-propelled Artillery, Yingzhou hid in the back to watch the Krieg Artillery fire rockets at the Orc buddies in the distance!
"Boom, boom, boom!"
Each explosion was accompanied by the body parts of unknown Orcs flying out; the Orcs attacking the Inner City on the battlefield clearly had not expected that their own rear would open fire on them.
Upon hearing the familiar sound of artillery, Mailun immediately said to the Orc guards beside him.
"Have Duolaigai take his troops and eliminate this group of Two-legged Sheep firing the cannons. Don't let these Two-legged Sheep continue firing, otherwise our losses will be disastrous!"
"Yes!"
Just after these Orc guards left, Mailun felt a burst of Orc battle cries coming from the camp behind him.
Mailun looked back and saw a group of Two-legged Sheep wearing gas masks and dark gray coats rushing out; they used the Entrenching Tools in their hands and the Bayonets on their Rifles to kill one Orc warrior after another.
At first, the Orcs were caught off guard by this sudden batch of strange Two-legged Sheep; the Orcs nearby were either taken out by a single shot or had half their heads sliced off by Entrenching Tools.
Because Rune Bulletproof Armor was issued to the siege troops, most of the Orcs left to guard the camp wore no protective gear.
"Damn it, where did these cursed Two-legged Sheep pop out from! Why did they pop out from inside the camp!"
Mailun said angrily as he watched his rear being ambushed.
However, the Orcs in the rear camp also began to organize a defense after seeing a group of strange Two-legged Sheep appear in their camp.
Only after killing a dozen Krieg soldiers did the Orcs stabilize their formation and begin a rhythmic counterattack against these suddenly appearing Two-legged Sheep.
