Chapter 1031: The Emperor's Guidance
Dreadnought-class Light Cruiser of the White Scars Ninth Company.
The broadside macro-cannons bombarded, tearing open massive wounds in the Mother Ship's thick bio-armor time and time again.
The Mother Ship emitted a continuous, agonizing psychic shriek, mobilizing more and more bio-ships to surround and suppress these annoying "parasites."
The Mother Ship's volume was truly too immense, and its regenerative capabilities were extremely astonishing; smaller wounds were healing rapidly.
"Company Commander! The 'Wind Chaser' has sustained damage to its starboard side! A group of Alien predator ships has broken through the close-in fire support net!"
"'Thunder Claw' reports ammunition consumption has exceeded sixty percent!"
"The Mother Ship's core energy signal remains stable!"
Company Commander Kurgan stood in the center of the Bridge, his brows tightly locked.
Just then, Librarian Ulton, standing in a corner of the Bridge, felt his body jolt! The runes on his Power Armor suddenly lit up, emitting a soft yet impossible-to-ignore radiance.
Ulton kept his eyes tightly shut, the veins on his forehead bulging.
"Ulton?"
Kurgan noticed the Librarian's strange state and asked in a deep voice.
Ulton did not answer immediately, his body trembling slightly.
After about ten seconds or so, the radiance gradually subsided; Ulton slowly opened his eyes, which were filled with awe.
Ulton turned toward Company Commander Kurgan.
"Company Commander Kurgan... I... I have received... a message..."
Kurgan raised an eyebrow.
"Whose message? Company Commander Kashiusiluo? Or another fleet?"
Ulton took a deep breath, shook his head, and spoke in a tone that was almost like sleep-talking.
"No... Company Commander. It is not them. It is... it is from the Holy... It is He... It is the will of the Emperor!"
"What?!"
The Bridge was in an uproar!
Company Commander Kurgan was also stunned, and he strode over to stand before Ulton.
"The Emperor... what did He say? Ulton, tell me word for word!"
Ulton collected his thoughts and repeated it.
"His will... illuminates my soul... He said, 'White Scars, your valor, I have witnessed. Yet this beast is thick-skinned and fleshy, not to be broken by external strikes. Its core is hidden deep beneath foul flesh and spikes, the source of all calamity. You must dispatch a Sharp Blade to pierce straight into its heart, only then can the danger of the stars hanging in the balance be resolved.'"
Ulton paused, then continued.
"He... He has pointed out the path. I can 'see'... the internal structure of the Mother Ship, a passage leading to the core of the Alien Mother Ship... right in the depths of that largest wound point caused by our previous attack!"
Company Commander Kurgan burst into a heroic laugh!
"Hahahaha! Good! A fine 'pierce straight into its heart'! A fine blade of the Emperor!"
Kurgan slapped Ulton's shoulder with force, causing Ulton's frame to sway.
"I knew it! Skimming around on the outside is not the style of us White Scars! If we're going to do it, we do it big! Strike straight at the heart of the dragon!"
Kurgan stopped his laughter.
"Brother Ulton, can you ensure the accuracy of this 'path'?"
"Company Commander, I swear upon my soul and my Faith in the Emperor! That passage, and the location of the core, are branded with absolute clarity in my spirit-vision! I can serve as the guide!"
"Very well!"
Kurgan waved his hand.
"Since that is the case, what is there to hesitate about!"
Kurgan turned, facing the communication array, his voice broadcasting throughout the ship.
"Brothers of the White Scars Ninth Company! Listen! The gaze of the Divine Emperor is upon us! He has granted us revelation, granted us the opportunity to sever this Alien tumor!"
After relaying the Emperor's will and the surprise attack plan, Kurgan said in a loud voice.
"This is a path leading to glory, and in all likelihood, to death! But who are we? We are the White Scars! We are the sons of the Khan! We are warriors who chase the wind and lightning! The Emperor needs us to be the dagger that stabs into the enemy's heart; how could we shrink back?!
I, Kurgan Baizhua, will personally lead the assault team to execute this glorious Task! I need the bravest, the swiftest, the most fearless warriors! Those willing to go into the belly of that monster with me and turn it upside down, step forward!"
Almost the moment Kurgan's voice fell, the communication channel exploded!
"Company Commander! Count me in! The 'Storm Spear' squad is ready to deploy at any time!"
"And us 'Azure Wolf Fangs'! How could such a good thing be without us!"
"For the Khan! For the Emperor!"
"Company Commander Kurgan, our Flamers are craving to give those bugs an internal purification!"
The crowd was impassioned; not a single warrior retreated. For the White Scars, this kind of high-risk, high-reward, and highly honorable assault Task was exactly what they dreamed of. Especially executing the Emperor's will!
"Good! You are all good men! However, we do not need too many people; quality is better than quantity!"
Kurgan made his choice: "Excluding the assault team members following me, the others, under the command of Batu, will continue to pin them down from the periphery, creating opportunities for us and preparing to provide support, if any of us are able to return!"
"Yes! Company Commander!"
The named teams erupted in excited roars, while those not chosen felt some regret.
Batu stepped forward.
"Company Commander, please be sure to be careful. We will use all our firepower to open the path for you and attract the enemy's attention as much as possible."
"Rest assured, old friend."
Kurgan patted Batu's arm and grinned.
"Don't forget, we White Scars are best at taking the head of an enemy general amidst ten thousand troops! This time, the target is just a bit bigger and the environment a bit more disgusting, that's all!"
Kurgan looked at Ulton.
"Brother Ulton, how long can the passage be maintained?"
Ulton sensed for a moment.
"The Mother Ship has strong self-healing capabilities; that passageway will not exist for long. We must depart as soon as possible."
"Then prepare immediately! Assault team, assemble at Launch Bay One! Bring your most comfortable melee weapons, and all the explosives! We are going to give that piece of space trash a 'deep cleaning' from the inside out!"
The order was executed rapidly.
Inside Launch Bay One, sixteen White Scars Space Marines, including Company Commander Kurgan and Librarian Ulton, had all arrived. They checked their bolters, chainswords, power spears, meltaguns, flamers, and the large quantity of explosives and hand grenades hanging from their waists and backs. The atmosphere was excited, as if they were going to participate in a grand hunt.
"Brothers, we are about to step into unknown territory and face the ugliest of Aliens. Remember, we are not only White Scars, we are at this moment the very Sharp Blade chosen by the Emperor!"
"Our Task will determine the fate of the billions of souls on Ximao Star, and it will also determine the honor of our Ninth Company! No matter what lies ahead, follow me, follow the path guided by Brother Ulton, and charge forward! For the Khan! For the Holy Emperor!"
"For the Khan! For the Holy Emperor!"
The hatch opened slowly, and a Thunderhawk gunship, modified with additional armor and an assault drill, was already prepared.
Company Commander Kurgan was the first to step into the gunship, turning back to reveal a wild smile to the warriors behind him:
"Let's go, brothers! Let us go give that big bug a good lesson and show it what a white storm of death is!"
