Chapter 1032: The

~6 min read 1,119 words

Just after the assault team led by Company Commander Kurgan set off aboard that specially modified Thunderhawk gunship.

"All units, attention! The 'Sharp Blade' is unsheathed! Our task is to clear the path for them and draw all the fire we can!"

Acting commander Batu ordered in his voice.

"'Wind Chaser', 'Thunder Claw', follow my flight path! We must cover the Company Commander and the others right in the face of that monster!"

Three White Scars ships increased their engine thrust and charged into the defensive perimeter of biological ships surrounding the Insect Hive Mother Ship!

"Targets: the anti-air tentacles and spore batteries around the Mother Ship's wound! Saturation fire!"

"Close-in Defense Systems at full power! Do not let any 'Blade' get close!"

The order was issued on the Bridge, and artillery fire lit up the void.

Main and secondary batteries fired at full capacity, with Light Lances and explosive flames blooming continuously on the surface of the Mother Ship and among the surrounding swarm of biological ships.

The two Destroyers pushed the White Scars' speed advantage to the limit, using Torpedoes to pick off any Zerg units attempting to approach the Thunderhawk gunship.

Biological plasma spheres constantly struck the ships' Void Shields.

A biological predator ship used its numerical advantage to ram the broadside of the *Thunder Claw*; although it was smashed to pieces itself, it still left a large dent in the Destroyer's armor plating.

"Captain! Number three turret on the starboard side is destroyed!"

"Shield Generator overloaded! Needs cooling time!"

Damage reports came in continuously, but Captain Batu turned a deaf ear, his gaze fixed on the Thunderhawk gunship flying toward the Mother Ship's wound.

For the White Scars! For the Company Commander!

Batu recited silently in his heart.

Inside the Insect Hive Mother Ship.

At the same time, that Thunderhawk gunship wove through the biological ships, evading the tentacles lashing out at it.

"Boom!!!"

It accompanied the Thunderhawk gunship as it anchored into the fleshy tunnel wall inside the Mother Ship's wound!

Company Commander Kurgan was the first to unbuckle his restraints, grab his Power Spear, and charge out of the cabin door.

"Assault team! Attack! Attack!"

Sixteen White Scars Space Marines poured out of the gunship and landed at the wound of the Insect Hive Mother Ship.

The surrounding flesh walls were living tissue covered in thick blood vessels and Neural Bundles flickering with an eerie green light.

From the distance came the rustling sounds of various digestive fluids flowing, heartbeats, and the crawling of countless tiny creatures.

"The Emperor protects... this place is truly disgusting."

A member of the "Wandering Hunter" squad carrying a Flamer adjusted his respirator.

"Remember our target, don't be distracted by the environment!"

Company Commander Kurgan growled, his gaze turning to Ulton.

"Brother Ulton, direction!"

Ulton kept his eyes tightly shut; a few seconds later, he opened them and pointed to a fleshy tunnel on the left.

"This way! I can feel it, the core's energy fluctuations are coming from this direction! The distance... is still very far! We must speed up!"

"Good! Purge anything that looks wrong! Maintain formation, follow me!"

Kurgan charged in the direction Ulton pointed.

Just as Kurgan and his party moved, this massive Insect Hive Mother Ship sensed these "bacteria."

The surrounding flesh walls began to writhe violently, and some tumors suddenly burst open, spraying highly corrosive digestive fluid! The ground also suddenly became sticky.

"Watch out for acid spray!"

"The ground is moving! Don't stop!"

The White Scars Space Marines warned each other while evading the attacks.

The sound of Bolter fire began to ring out, blowing up the tumors that were spraying digestive fluid.

But this was only the beginning.

Accompanied by a dense scratching sound and hissing, the first batch of Zerg guards surged out from the folds and holes in the tunnel's flesh walls!

They were relatively small in size but more agile, and their carapace color was darker, almost blending into the surrounding environment.

"For Jaghatai Khan! Kill!"

Company Commander Kurgan roared, his Power Spear thrusting out and pinning a wall-crawling bug that had pounced from overhead onto the flesh wall.

"Fire! Free fire!"

"Flamers! Purge this area!"

The battle erupted instantly!

The White Scars Space Marines utilized the limited space within the tunnel to form highly efficient combat squads.

Librarian Ulton fired his Bolter Pistol at the approaching bugs while continuously sensing the direction, ensuring the team did not get lost inside the Mother Ship.

"This way! Turn right!!"

Ulton directed the way.

The team fought as they advanced, pushing deep along that massive fleshy tunnel.

The "ground" beneath their feet would suddenly split open from time to time, revealing churning, foul-smelling digestive pools below; tentacles coated in Paralysis Toxin would hang from overhead; and bone spikes would suddenly shoot out from the flesh walls on both sides.

"Company Commander! This won't work! There are too many bugs! Our ammunition is being consumed very quickly!"

The Sergeant of the "Storm Spear" squad shouted over the comms channel; he had just used a Meltagun to vaporize a bloated "Blast Bug" that was trying to break through their formation.

Kurgan cleaved a Leaping Bug in two with his spear and looked around.

The corpses of bugs already littered the tunnel, but more were surging in endlessly.

"Ulton! Is there a shortcut? Or a route with weaker defenses?"

Kurgan roared.

Ulton frowned deeply, his psychic power expanding to its full extent.

"I... I'm trying... the psychic background noise of the Mother Ship is too strong... wait! To the left! There is a smaller branch passage with a weaker energy signature; it seems it can bypass this main defensive area! But I'm not sure what's inside!"

"No time to hesitate! Turn left!"

Kurgan made a prompt decision.

"Use fire to seal the main passage entrance! Delay the pursuers!"

"Understood!"

The flamethrower soldiers immediately turned their muzzles, and scorching fire dragons gushed out, turning the entrance of the main passage into a sea of flames, temporarily blocking the Insect Tide surging from behind.

The assault team quickly turned into the narrower, dimmer fleshy passage on the left.

The environment here was even more unsettling; the fleshy walls were covered in constantly opening and closing breathing pores, emitting "puchi puchi" sounds, and the air was filled with a stronger stench of decay and a... strange scent similar to pheromones.

This was a "processing zone" inside the Mother Ship used for decomposing and recycling organic waste, and possibly for incubating certain special units.

And they were getting closer to that massive Insect Hive Mother Ship core, which might be nearly 10 kilometers in diameter, and it also began to focus its attention on these "bacteria."
