Chapter 1101: We Fight for Humanity

~6 min read 1,149 words

The six Custodians reacted immediately, raising their weapons as energy fields deployed around them.

But Sanguinius did not even look at them.

The first Custodian charged forward, their power blade descending with a harsh, piercing hum.

Sanguinius sidestepped, letting the blade graze his chest plate while his left hand reached out to grab the opponent's wrist.

The Custodian's wrist armor deformed and cracked under Sanguinius's strength.

With a flick of his arm, Sanguinius sent the half-ton warrior flying; the soldier slammed into a distant wall, embedding into the metal structure, and stopped moving.

The second and third Custodians attacked simultaneously, flanking from left and right.

Decomposition beams of blue energy erupted from the tips of their power blades.

Sanguinius held his Power Spear horizontally before him.

The moment the decomposition beams struck the spear, they were deflected by an invisible force field and refracted onto the ceiling, melting two deep pits.

Then Sanguinius moved.

So fast that only afterimages remained.

The Custodian on the left was struck in the abdomen by the butt of the Power Spear; their body bent at an impossible angle, and they had already lost consciousness by the time they flew away.

The Custodian on the right attempted to retreat, but Sanguinius's wings suddenly unfurled, the wingtips sweeping past to sever the opponent's weapon-wielding arm.

The fourth Custodian threw a silver disc that expanded in mid-air into a net-like force field, attempting to restrain Sanguinius.

The Power Spear in Sanguinius's hand began to hum, and pale golden Psionic Patterns emerged along the shaft.

He thrust forward.

The spear stopped a meter away from the force field net, but the psionic shockwave erupting from the spearhead had already pierced the field, striking the fourth Custodian.

The warrior's armor remained intact, but their body inside could not withstand the impact and collapsed to the ground.

The last two Custodians exchanged a glance, simultaneously activated their armor's self-destruct protocols, and charged at Sanguinius at full speed.

Sanguinius sighed, his wings snapping forward to wrap around himself. Complex energy patterns emerged on the surface of the wings, forming a shield.

The moment the two Custodians collided with the wing shield, the self-destructs triggered.

A deafening explosion filled the entire space, the shockwave causing the light of the Energy Core to flicker.

But when the fire faded, Sanguinius was still standing there, his wings slowly unfolding, without even a single scorch mark.

Six Custodians, trained and equipped specifically to counter transcendent beings, had all been incapacitated in less than 5 seconds.

Tailakesi watched all of this, the light of his Third Eye gradually dimming.

Sanguinius continued walking forward, finally stopping five meters from Tailakesi.

The tip of the Power Spear pointed toward the ground, but Tailakesi felt that if he made any sudden move, that weapon would pierce his heart in an instant.

"Now, deactivate the shield, or in three minutes, I will deactivate it myself."

Tailakesi's three eyes stared at Sanguinius; after a long while, he slowly shook his head.

"Even if I deactivate the shield, what will that change? Your fleet is already standing by in orbit; once the shield vanishes, the bombardment will begin. The fall of K-77 is only a matter of time."

"Yes."

Sanguinius admitted honestly.

"But the disappearance of the shield means the orbital bombardment can precisely strike military targets instead of indiscriminate destruction. It means my soldiers will not suffer unnecessary casualties when they land. It means more civilians will have the chance to evacuate to safe zones."

Sanguinius paused.

"It also means you will not have to bear the responsibility of watching an entire planet be completely devoured by the flames of war."

Tailakesi smiled bitterly.

"Are you trying to make me feel that my surrender is noble?"

"I am giving you the opportunity to choose. A Commander's responsibility includes not only fighting to the last moment but also minimizing the sacrifices of their own people when defeat is inevitable. If you deactivate the shield, I will ensure the bombardment is limited to military facilities."

"If you continue to resist, I will still destroy the Shield Generator, only the method will be more direct, and the resulting chain reaction could destroy half a continent."

"Tell me one thing, Sanguinius. What exactly are you? Not Xiu Luo Saint Human, I am certain of that. Your strength, your wisdom, your... very existence, all transcend the scope of any natural evolution."

Sanguinius met his gaze, something seeming to swirl in the depths of those pale blue eyes.

"We are the sons of the Emperor. We are beings created to unify humanity, lead humanity, and protect humanity. We fight for Human Civilization."

"For humanity? You invaded our home, slaughtered our soldiers, and destroyed our world! Is this your way of 'fighting for humanity'?"

"The Feng Qi Xing Alliance is not human. You are an Alien civilization, possessing an appearance similar to humans, but your essence is different. Your three eyes, your purple skin, and your genetic structure all differ from pure humans."

"So that is the reason? Because we are 'not human enough' in your eyes, we deserve to be conquered and annihilated?"

"There are many non-human races coexisting peacefully within the territory of the Star Alliance. The premise is to accept the governance of the Star Alliance, abandon hostility, and become a part of Human Civilization. The Feng Qi Xing Alliance chose war, and we can only respond with war."

"We chose war?"

Tailakesi laughed, his laughter filled with madness and despair.

"It was you who suddenly appeared in our border star sector, destroyed our outposts, and occupied our worlds! It was you who launched this aggression!"

Sanguinius shook his head slightly.

"History has many layers, Commander Tailakesi. In the past three hundred years, the Feng Qi Xing Alliance has annexed seventeen smaller civilizations, six of which had connections to humans."

"Your 'development' in the border star sector was, in reality, the plunder of indigenous worlds."

"And the Xiuluo Holy Star, our original home, was initially a Gladiator Arena planet for the Feng Qi Xing Alliance, where humans were enslaved as tools for entertainment."

Sanguinius took a step forward, the Power Spear pointing at the ground, the invisible pressure forcing Tailakesi to retreat involuntarily.

"We are indeed expanding. But what we bring is not slavery and destruction, but order and unity."

"Within the territory of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, all races can coexist peacefully, provided they accept one principle: Human Civilization is the future of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, and all races should find their place within this framework."

Tailakesi's three eyes opened to their widest, staring fixedly at Sanguinius.

"So this is your 'great cause'? A power that brings all civilizations under its banner? And you 'Primarchs' are the Angels of the Imperium, using fire and sword to spread this 'gospel'?"

Sanguinius spoke calmly.

"Three minutes are up, the conversation is over."
