Chapter 1102: Perhaps This Is Not a Bad Thing

~6 min read 1,191 words

Sanguinius raised his left hand, palm facing the direction of the Energy Core, as pale blue psionic light gathered deep within his eyes.

Tailakesi felt an invisible pressure descend, instinctively taking a step back, all three of his eyes widening.

"You..."

Sanguinius ignored Tailakesi.

His attention was focused entirely on the Energy Core.

In his perception, that massive spherical device was not merely a physical entity, but a node in an energy network of extreme complexity.

The energy maintaining the entire planetary shield was pumped out from here, flowing through a network of conduits spanning tens of thousands of kilometers, ultimately forming a barrier that enveloped the globe.

Sanguinius's psionic power began to extend, probing into the internal structure of the Energy Core.

Sanguinius was perceiving every detail of the energy flow.

The pulse frequency of the main reactor, the resonance mode of the stabilizers, the diversion algorithms of the distribution network...

Tailakesi watched all of this in shock.

As a high-ranking Commander, he understood the basic principles of the Huzhun Xitong and knew how precise a device the Energy Core was.

But Sanguinius... he was just "looking" at the core, without any physical contact, without operating any Control Console.

Then, the light emitted by the Energy Core began to rhythmically brighten and dim.

The indicator lights on the Control Console turned on automatically, one after another, displaying changes in various system statuses.

"What are... you doing..."

"Persuading it."

Persuading?

Tailakesi could not understand the meaning of this word in this context.

But the output readings of the Energy Core were steadily dropping.

70%... 65%... 60%...

No alarms. No security protocols triggered.

"How did you do that?"

Sanguinius did not answer.

All his attention was on the Energy Core.

The psionic light in Sanguinius's eyes grew brighter; it was no longer just pale blue, but a mixture of gold and white light.

Sanguinius's wings spread slightly, the edges of every feather beginning to glow.

The output of the Energy Core dropped to 30%.

At this moment, the system finally detected an anomaly.

The physical structure of the Energy Core began to emit alarm-like vibrations; that was the stress feedback generated when reactor materials endured abnormal energy flows.

Sanguinius frowned and muttered to himself.

"Still not gentle enough."

Sanguinius raised his right hand as well, holding his hands in a virtual grip before him.

In the space between Sanguinius's hands, the air began to twist, light refracted, and a pale golden energy vortex gradually took shape.

The vortex began to spin, faster and faster.

At the same time, the reaction of the Energy Core seemed to be drawn by this vortex, beginning to tilt in this direction.

The light inside the core no longer radiated uniformly, but formed a stream of light, flowing toward the vortex between Sanguinius's hands.

"Are you... absorbing the core's energy?"

Sanguinius was channeling the output of the Energy Core into a temporary energy container he had created.

This was more complex and dangerous than simply shutting it down; any mistake would lead to the energy being Out of Control, triggering an explosion equivalent to hundreds of millions of tons of TNT.

But Sanguinius's control was extremely precise.

The energy flow transferred smoothly, and the core's output readings continued to fall: 20%... 15%... 10%...

The vibrations in the underground space gradually subsided. The light of the Energy Core dimmed to the point of near extinction.

On the Control Console, the status indicator lights for the Huzhun Xitong turned from green to red one after another, finally all extinguishing.

And in the orbit of K-77, that golden shield enveloping the entire planet began to flicker.

After flickering a few times, it vanished completely.

The entire process, from the moment Sanguinius began his action until the shield completely disappeared, took 130 seconds.

Tailakesi froze in place, his three eyes staring fixedly at the now nearly extinguished Energy Core, then turned toward Sanguinius.

Sanguinius slowly lowered his hands, the energy vortex in his hands dissipating along with them; those channeled energies were clearly handled safely in a way Tailakesi could not understand.

Tailakesi's voice was dry.

"What... what exactly are you?"

Sanguinius looked at him, the psionic light in his eyes not yet fully faded.

"I have already answered this question. Now, the shield has been deactivated. Your Orbital Fleet will lose its barrier, and my fleet will launch a full-scale attack. The outcome of this battle is already sealed."

Tailakesi's lips trembled as he murmured.

"This kind of power... a Xiu Luo Saint Human could not possibly possess it. Even the top Psionics of our Feng Qi Xing Alliance, even our legendary ancient civilizations... could not possibly do what you just did.

That is not technology, not psionic power, that is... that is something more fundamental."

Sanguinius said calmly.

"The Bode Star System is vast, Commander Tailakesi. There are many existences, many powers, that transcend the scope of your understanding."

Sanguinius walked forward, the tip of his Power Spear still pointing toward the ground.

"This war is over, make your choice."

Sanguinius said.

"Surrender, and become prisoners of war. Or, fight to the end."

Tailakesi looked at Sanguinius and slowly shook his head.

"I witnessed the power you just displayed. That made me realize one thing: the Feng Qi Xing Alliance never had a chance of winning from the start. We are not just facing another interstellar civilization; we are facing... some kind of higher existence."

Tailakesi drew a ceremonial dagger from his waist.

"But as a Commander of Fengqi, I still have my duty and my dignity."

Sanguinius did not stop him, only watching quietly.

Tailakesi took a deep breath, then plunged the dagger into his own chest.

Purple blood gushed from the wound, staining the Commander's uniform dark.

"In the end... tell me... what will the future of the Bode Star System... look like?"

Sanguinius was in Silence for a moment, then answered.

"Unity. Peace. The light of Human Civilization will illuminate every corner."

A complex smile tugged at the corners of Tailakesi's mouth.

"Then... perhaps... this is not entirely a bad thing..."

As his voice fell, his body tipped forward and stopped moving.

The moment the planet vanished, a messenger on the Bridge of the Angel shouted.

"Shields failed! Repeat, shields failed! Confirming energy readings at zero! K-77 is completely exposed!"

Fleet Commander Aoruisitesi pressed the fleet-wide communication button, his voice ringing out on every Star Alliance warship.

"Attention all units! Shields are broken! Execute Phase Three of the plan immediately!"

The moment the order was given, the Star Alliance fleet in orbit began a full-scale attack.

Behind the planetary shield, the Orbital Fleet of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance did not sit and wait for death.

When the shields began to flicker, Admiral Kusige, commander of the Fengqi Fleet stationed in the orbit of K-77, had already foreseen the possible situation.

Currently, K-77 only had a vanguard fleet: two Battleships, eight Cruisers, twenty Destroyers, and dozens of Frigates.

When the shields completely vanished, Kusige immediately gave the order.

"All units, Intercept the landing forces! Prioritize attacking the Transport Ships! Do not let them establish ground positions!"
