Chapter 1209: Beginning the Liquidation
Karl took the ancient handwritten prayer and stood before the lectern.
His voice was steady, his rhythm precise, completely immersed in the syllables left behind by the ancestors.
The Chief Elder's departure from his seat drew the attention of a few, but Alan's explanation was reasonable: for a man over two hundred years old, standing and chanting for twenty consecutive minutes, it was normal to lack the physical strength to continue.
Moreover, he had arranged for "someone" to look after him outside the side door.
Alan did not return to the secondary seat.
He walked toward the second row.
The Military Elder was sitting there, his three eyes closed, his lips moving as he followed the prayer.
Alan stopped beside him and leaned over.
"General, General Geke asked me to convey that the front line urgently needs you to analyze a piece of intelligence."
The Military Elder opened his eyes, his third eye narrowing slightly.
"What intelligence?"
"Regarding the Mirror Rift Project."
"Why did Geke go through you?"
Alan did not answer.
His hand was already pressed against the back of the elder's neck.
The same position, the same technique, the same instantaneous respiratory inhibition accompanied by cardiac arrest.
The Military Elder's body stiffened, his pupils contracting sharply.
"The General is too tired and also needs to rest."
The Education Elder happened to look up and saw this scene.
"Ah!!"
The Education Elder's scream finally burst from his throat, tearing through the solemnity of the mourning hall.
Everyone looked up.
"He killed them!"
The Education Elder pointed toward the direction of the side door.
"Alan! He killed the Chief Elder! He killed the Military Elder!"
The mourning hall erupted in chaos.
People jumped from their seats, looking around blankly, not knowing where to flee.
Karl put down the prayer and turned around, roaring.
"Quiet! Everyone be quiet!"
Alan's hands were stained with blood, and a few drops had splattered onto his black military dress uniform, appearing particularly jarring in the solemn funeral setting.
He looked at the chaotic crowd before him, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.
"Everyone. Do not panic."
"Guards!"
Karl shouted.
"Ketuo! Someone come here!"
The doors of the mourning hall were pushed open.
Captain Ketuo rushed in with five guards.
They held Energy Rifles, quickly forming a formation in front of the crowd.
"Major!"
Ketuo saw the blood on Alan's hands, his pupils contracting sharply.
"You..."
His words were not finished before his carotid artery had been sliced open.
The Energy Rifle fell to the ground, his body tipped forward, and in his third eye was a shock that had not faded even in death.
He had followed Alan for fourteen days, protecting him, trusting him, and never doubting him.
Now he was dead, not even having had time to ask "why."
The guards froze for a second.
Alan's hand-blade shattered the second guard's larynx; he turned and kicked the third guard's knee, simultaneously snapping his cervical spine; he then seized the fourth guard's Energy Rifle and used the butt of the gun to crush the fifth guard's skull.
Three seconds.
Five guards, completely wiped out.
Captain Ketuo lay in a pool of blood, his third eye staring straight at the ceiling of the mourning hall.
Screams erupted in the mourning hall once again.
These Aliens began to flee frantically.
But Alan did not give them any chance.
A Star God Phase Sword sprang from his forearm as he charged toward the Fengqi crowd.
The first target was the Mineral Elder; that sturdy middle-aged male was attempting to push over a side door.
The Star God Phase Sword pierced in from his back and exited through his chest.
The Mineral Elder looked down at the sword tip that had suddenly appeared from his chest, his three eyes full of disbelief.
He wanted to say something, but his body went limp and collapsed to the ground, twitching twice before moving no more.
The second target was the Trade Elder, a shrewd merchant who was trying to hide behind a chair.
Alan did not chase after him, but aimed the Neural Shredder and fired.
The Trade Elder only ran two steps before suddenly freezing in place.
His body began to tremble violently, his three eyes rolled back, and his brains sprayed out.
The Traffic Elder, he had already rushed to the door, his hand about to touch the doorknob.
The same Psychic Shock hit, brains sprayed everywhere, and the corpse collapsed at the doorway, blood splashing three meters away.
"No!"
The Diplomatic Elder screamed, shrinking back desperately.
She saw Alan walking toward her and hurriedly begged for mercy.
"Please... I will do anything... let me go..."
Alan stopped in front of her.
The tip of the sword pointed at her throat.
"The Mirror Rift Project, on which planet is it specifically being implemented?"
The Diplomatic Elder shook her head desperately.
"I don't know! I really don't know! That is top secret, only Karl and the Military Elder and the others know..."
"Then you are useless."
The sword tip thrust in.
The Diplomatic Elder clutched her throat and fell.
The Judicial Elder tried to escape through a window on the other side.
He had already climbed onto the windowsill and was about to jump down.
Alan's sword swung out.
Not a thrust, but a slash.
The Star God Phase Sword traced a star-blue arc, slashing through the air.
The Judicial Elder's body was severed in two at the waist.
The upper body landed inside the windowsill, while the lower body twitched on the windowsill for two seconds before falling.
The screaming reached its peak.
The remaining people were completely insane.
Some curled up in corners trembling, some tried to smash Alan with chairs but were slashed in two along with the chair by a single sword strike, some knelt to beg for mercy but had their skulls crushed by a kick.
Alan wove through the mourning hall.
With every step, someone fell.
With every sword strike, a life was taken.
Blood splashed onto Lina's Crystal Coffin, flowing down the transparent lid.
Karl stood by the podium, unable to move.
His three eyes looked at all of this in turn, his brain refusing to accept the reality before him.
Alan, the nephew he had watched grow up, the young soldier who had just returned from a prisoner-of-war camp and needed his protection, the grieving brother who had just been delivering a eulogy for his sister,
was slaughtering his family.
One after another.
No hesitation, no pity, no fear.
Just like completing an ordinary job.
"What exactly... what exactly are you..."
Karl muttered.
Alan did not answer.
He had already killed the eighth Elder.
The Medical Elder, the attending physician who had guarded the Patriarch for many years, fell beside a wheelchair.
He had tried to protect the old man with his own body at the last moment, but Alan just gave a casual wave of his sword, leaving him forever still there.
The Education Elder, the female scholar over seventy years old, curled up in a corner trembling.
When Alan passed by her, he glanced at her.
The sword light flashed.
The Education Elder's body slowly slid down, her third eye still holding an expression of disbelief.
Alan turned and walked toward the last few survivors.
A collateral relative tried to rush at him, holding an Energy Pistol picked up from a guard's corpse.
Alan dodged the shot by turning sideways and struck back with his sword; the man was split in two from head to toe.
Two young children curled up beside their mother's corpse, trembling all over. Alan glanced at them and swung his sword.
Three remained.
Karl.
The Patriarch Vilar.
And, the "Adjutant" who had been sitting in the corner the whole time, observing everything without moving.
Karl finally found his voice.
"Stop!"
He roared, pulling a small Pistol from his waist, the self-defense weapon he carried with him that he had never truly used.
"No matter who you are, stop!"
Alan turned toward him.
"You want to kill me? Come."
Karl's finger rested on the trigger.
Aiming at Alan's head, he took a deep breath and pulled the trigger.
The Energy Beam shot out.
Alan had already disappeared.
The Energy Beam struck the wall behind him.
Karl widened his eyes, preparing to fire a second shot.
The Star God Phase Sword pierced Karl's right shoulder, pinning him to the wall behind him.
The Pistol fell to the ground.
Karl screamed and struggled violently, but the sword was stuck in the wall, and he could not move.
Alan walked over and stood in front of him.
"The Mirror Rift Project," he said. "The coordinates."
Karl gasped for air, his three eyes bloodshot.
"You... you killed my whole family... and you still want... me to cooperate?"
"Whether you cooperate or not does not affect the outcome. But it will affect whether you suffer before you die."
Karl looked at him and suddenly laughed.
"Do you know... what is the most terrifying thing about you?"
Karl said intermittently.
"It's not your speed... it's not your sword... it's those eyes of yours... there is nothing inside them... no hate... no love... not even killing intent... you are just... working..."
