Chapter 1210: Obtaining the Coordinates of the Mirror Rift Project

~5 min read 948 words

Alan did not respond, his grip tightening slightly.

"Last chance. The coordinates."

"Mirror Rift. Frontier planet, Shenyuan."

Alan stopped.

"Anything else?"

"The research director... Veriks... is being held under house arrest there by Valken... he has the complete data..."

"Research progress?"

"I don't know... I only know... Valken went there last week... after he returned... he was a completely different person..."

Alan retracted the Star God Phase Sword.

"Your cooperation has been noted."

He said, then turned around, no longer looking at Karl.

Karl slumped against the wall, gasping for air.

He was still alive.

But at this moment, he wished he were dead.

Because the direction Alan turned toward was the wheelchair of Patriarch Vilar.

That dying old man had been sitting there since the massacre began, without any reaction.

Alan walked up to him.

The sword was raised.

Just then, the old man's Third Eye suddenly rotated and focused.

He looked at Alan, and for the first time, a light of clarity appeared in his pupils.

"You are not Alan. Who are you?"

Alan did not answer.

The old man's gaze moved past him, looking toward the corner of the mourning hall.

There, Yingzhou was still sitting in the Adjutant's seat, his posture unchanged.

The old man's Third Eye stared at him for a long time.

"It is you. The true mastermind. He... is merely your tool."

Yingzhou stood up.

He walked through the corpses, blood, and severed limbs covering the floor, and stopped in front of the Patriarch.

"You are very sharp. At this age, in this state."

The old man smiled with difficulty.

"I have lived... three hundred and seventeen years... seen too much... power, conspiracy, betrayal... but I have never seen... someone like you... who can turn a person... into a weapon..."

He looked at Alan, then looked at Yingzhou.

"Are you from Xiuluo Holy? Spies of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance?"

Yingzhou did not answer.

The old man did not need an answer either.

"That project... Mirror Rift... are you going to stop it?"

"Yes."

The old man nodded.

"Feng Qi... the Star Alliance is finished, how exactly did they provoke you?"

After saying this, he closed his eyes, and the humming of the life-support equipment began to weaken.

Yingzhou glanced at Alan.

Alan's sword fell.

Clean and swift, a single strike through the heart.

The old man's body twitched once, then went completely still.

The life-support equipment emitted a final alarm, then faded into Silence.

The mourning hall returned to quiet.

Only the sound of Karl's gasping remained, along with the faint sound of flowing blood.

Yingzhou looked around the room.

Lina was still lying there quietly, her expression peaceful.

There was blood on the lid of her Crystal Coffin, but it had not yet reached her face.

Yingzhou glanced at the bouquet of Star Orchid.

"She was indeed an excellent Intelligence Officer."

Then he turned away, no longer looking.

"Communication Device."

He reached out his hand.

Alan handed over a portable Communication Device.

Yingzhou activated it and entered a string of complex codes.

A few seconds later, the connection was established.

A holographic projection appeared amidst the pool of blood.

It was the face of Khan Jaghatai, with the Bridge's Command Center in the background.

"Father. Are you on the battlefield?"

"Shenyuan Star."

Yingzhou said.

"Coordinates confirmed. Valken is there preparing to activate the Mirror Rift. I need your fleet, now."

"Time window?"

"Unknown. The sooner, the better."

"The main force of the White Scars is executing a deep penetration in the Ash Corridor. Give me three standard hours. I will arrive."

"Three hours."

"Yes. In three hours, the White Scars will stand at the edge of the rift."

Yingzhou nodded.

"Bring the most elite assault team. We need to control the research facility, capture or eliminate Valken, and stop any attempt to open it."

"Understood."

Jaghatai paused for a second.

"Father, will you wait for me there?"

"I will. We will go home together."

The communication cut off.

The holographic projection dissipated.

The memorial hall fell back into silence.

Yingzhou turned to Alan.

"Clean up the traces. We need to leave the Capital Star within three hours and head to the rendezvous point."

Alan nodded.

She put away the Star God Phase Sword and began to check every corpse.

When she walked to Karl's side, she paused for a moment.

Karl's Third Eye was half-open, looking at Alan.

"Will you... kill me?"

He asked, his voice weak.

Alan looked at him without answering.

Karl suddenly laughed.

"You know... the most ironic thing is... Lina... really treated you like a brother... in her last few days... she was still happy for you... saying you had changed... become stronger... more trustworthy..."

He gasped for air and continued.

"Until she died... she never knew... the person who killed her... was the brother... she trusted most..."

Alan's expression did not change at all.

She simply raised her sword and stabbed it into Karl's throat.

The tip of the sword pierced through the back of his neck and pinned him to the wall.

Karl's eyes widened, his body twitched a few times, and then it became still forever.

Alan pulled out the sword, letting the corpse slide to the ground.

She turned around and continued cleaning up.

Three minutes later, there were no traces of any Kalidusi assassins in the memorial hall.

Yingzhou took one last look at Lina's Crystal Coffin.

"Let's go."

He said.

"Yes! His Majesty!"

They passed through the side door, through the empty corridor, and through the hovercar in the courtyard.

The vehicle lifted off, left the Saladin Family mansion, and merged into the traffic flow of the Capital Star.
