Chapter 1217: Jaghatai vs Angron (1)

~6 min read 1,172 words

That figure was taller and more terrifying than a Space Marine.

When he stepped out of the rift, the entire spherical room trembled.

His skin was dark red, covered in hideous scars and twisted runes.

Butcher's Nails were connected to his head, and his eyes burned with pure bloodlust.

He scanned everyone in the room.

When his gaze fell upon Jaghatai, a trace of... clarity flashed in those eyes.

"Jaghatai."

Jaghatai's pupils constricted slightly.

That was Angron's voice.

But it was Angron twisted, corrupted, and completely changed by some existence.

There was no warmth from when they grew up together in that voice, no trust between brothers, no pride that a son of the Emperor should have.

Only madness. Only bloodlust. Only an eternal thirst for slaughter.

"Angron."

Jaghatai said.

"What does this mean?"

Angron laughed loudly.

That laughter echoed throughout the spherical room, making the space tremble and causing those World Eaters Chaos Space Marines to let out insane, wild laughter along with him.

"What does it mean?"

Angron said.

"It means I have finally found the way. Finally found the method to leave that hell.

Do you know what that world is like, Jaghatai? Do you know what it feels like to fight, kill, and bleed every day, every night, every moment? Do you know what it feels like to watch your brothers die one by one, only to be reborn?"

Jaghatai looked at him.

"I do not know. But I know that what you are now is not what Father hoped to see."

"Father!"

Angron suddenly flew into a rage.

"That skeleton sitting on the golden toilet! That tyrant who used us as tools! That False Emperor who never cared about our feelings!"

"I fought in that world for ten thousand years, Jaghatai. Ten thousand years of slaughter, ten thousand years of pain, ten thousand years of... waiting. Waiting to find the way back. Waiting to find the chance for revenge."

Angron stared fixedly at Jaghatai.

"Now, I have found it. This rift, this channel opened by that stupid Alien... it leads to this world. I can finally return. Finally... find Father and let him taste my pain."

Jaghatai looked at him, looked at this former brother.

Angron was approachable and had a heart that empathized with the emotions of others in all things.

But this thing before his eyes was not Angron.

This was a monster wearing Angron's skin.

It was a Puppet completely twisted by some existence.

It was a Demon that only knew slaughter and destruction.

"You are not my brother."

Jaghatai said, his voice calm.

"You are just a thing wearing his skin."

Angron's smile became even more hideous.

"You are right. I am not your brother. I am the embodiment of slaughter and destruction. And you..."

He pointed his Claw at Jaghatai.

"You are the first Primarch I will kill after returning to this world. Your head will make a fine gift."

The atmosphere in the spherical room solidified.

The Space Marines on both sides raised their weapons simultaneously.

Jaghatai gripped his Power Scimitar, the psychic Huguang on the blade becoming even more intense.

"White Scars! Prepare for battle!"

"For the Khan! For the Emperor!"

Angron looked at them, a trace of... excitement flashing within the madness in his eyes.

"Very good."

He said.

"Prey with backbone is more fun to kill."

"World Eaters! Kill them all!"

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

Thirty World Eaters Chaos Space Marines roared and charged toward the White Scars' formation.

Jaghatai and Angron.

The Power Scimitar and the Chainaxe collided in the center of the spherical room, erupting with a deafening metallic boom.

The shockwave spread outward, overturning several pieces of equipment nearby.

Jaghatai slid back three meters, leaving deep scratches on the floor beneath his feet.

Angron did not budge.

A gap in strength.

Angron's body has been thoroughly enhanced by an unknown power, far exceeding the limits of a Primarch.

"Is that it?"

Angron laughed mockingly.

"Jaghatai, you are too weak."

His Chainaxe swung down again, carrying enough force to tear through warship armor.

Jaghatai dodged to the side, simultaneously slashing his Power Scimitar toward Angron's flank.

The blade struck Angron's flank, leaving behind a deep wound.

"Not bad."

Angron said.

"At least you can hurt me. A bit stronger than I imagined."

His Claw struck straight toward Jaghatai's head.

Jaghatai ducked to dodge, simultaneously kicking Angron's knee.

The force of that kick was enough to shatter the bones of a Space Marine, but for Angron, it only made him stagger slightly.

On the other side, a White Scars Space Marine clashed head-on with a World Eaters Chaos Space Marine.

His Chainsword slashed toward the opponent's throat, but the World Eaters Chaos Space Marine did not dodge or parry, blocking directly with his arm while his Chainaxe swung toward the other's head; the White Scars Space Marine tilted his head to avoid the damage.

The Chainsword severed the World Eater's arm, but the Chainaxe also left a deep scar on the White Scars Space Marine's helmet.

Both men retreated simultaneously, then charged again at the same time.

Another White Scars Space Marine was surrounded by three World Eaters Chaos Space Marines.

His Bolter fired in continuous bursts, hitting one, but the other two had already charged in front of him.

He threw away his Bolter, drew his combat knife, and met the two frenzied enemies.

The knife stabbed into the first World Eater's throat, while the second World Eater's Chainaxe split open his Power Armor.

The spherical room turned into a bloody battlefield.

Bolter rounds streaked through the space, and Chainaxes and Chainswords collided, throwing off sparks.

Veriks slumped in the corner, his three eyes wide, watching this battle that far exceeded his range of understanding.

He could not see the battle before him at all; there was only immense energy colliding everywhere.

What was he seeing? That was a Primarch of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, that was a Demon from the other side of the rift, that was a war capable of destroying an entire planet erupting before him.

He could do nothing.

He could only watch, could only wait for death.

The battle between Jaghatai and Angron continued.

Jaghatai's speed far exceeded Angron's; every one of his attacks could hit the target, and every dodge could evade a fatal blow.

Jaghatai's Power Scimitar could leave scars on Angron's Armor, and even when wounding the body itself, Angron acted as if nothing had happened.

Yet any one of Angron's attacks, as long as it hit Jaghatai, would be a grievous injury.

"What are you still hoping for?"

Angron mocked while attacking.

"Hoping for Father to come save you? Hoping for that skeleton sitting on the golden toilet to come save you?"

One of his axe swings was dodged by Jaghatai, smashing into the floor and blasting out a huge crater.

"He will not come, Jaghatai. He never comes. He only sits there, watching us fight, watching us die, and then creates new tools to replace us."
