Chapter 1238: Welcoming

~5 min read 961 words

Xiuluo Holy Star, Sky Dome Shipyard main docking area, observation deck number one.

A group of people are waiting.

Standing at the very front is an elderly woman.

She wears a simple dark robe, her silver-white hair combed meticulously.

Yingzhou's mother, the most respected elder in the entire Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance.

She has weathered countless storms, watching her son become the Emperor, watching those Primarchs grow from individual human children into the most powerful warriors.

Behind her stand a group of Primarchs.

Luojia stands on the far left, wearing the ceremonial robes of the Word Bearers Legion, holding a string of Psionic Crystal rosary beads in his hand.

His expression is gentle, his eyes full of anticipation.

Perturabo stands next to Luojia, arms crossed over his chest, his gaze wanting to appear indifferent yet unable to stop staring at the starry sky outside the observation window.

"Why haven't they arrived yet?"

He mutters, his voice neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for those around him to hear.

"According to calculations, they should have arrived fifteen minutes ago. Unless that madman Jaghatai went on a detour to race ships again."

Luojia looks at him with a smile.

"Pertu, you've been calculating since two hours ago."

Perturabo's face flushes slightly.

"I... I am just verifying the flight data. This is the basic discipline of an engineer, not... that..."

"Worrying?"

Luojia finishes for him.

Perturabo turns his face to the side, forcing a defense.

"I am not worried! How could Father possibly have any trouble? I am just... just ensuring everything goes according to plan!"

The two youths standing behind them, looking only fourteen or fifteen years old, cannot help but laugh out loud.

Leman Russ has a roguish smile on his face.

He wears a simple combat suit, with a Battle Axe taller than himself hanging at his waist.

"Perturabo, just admit it."

Leman Russ says with a grin.

"You just miss Father. Just like us."

Perturabo glares at him.

"Little wolf cub, what do you know?"

"I know you're blushing."

Leman Russ is completely unafraid.

"Just like little sister's small pet."

Beside them, Fulgrim coughs elegantly.

He wears an exquisite purple robe, his long silver hair neatly tied behind his head, his features handsome.

"Perturabo is just not good at expressing his feelings."

Perturabo glances at Fulgrim.

Then Fulgrim adds.

"But we all know he actually misses Father very much."

Perturabo's face turns dark.

Standing at the very back, Alpharius and Omegon laugh at the same time.

They look exactly the same, even their movements are often synchronized.

At this moment, they exchange a look, then say in unison:

"Perturabo is blushing."

"Perturabo misses Father."

"Perturabo won't admit it."

"But we all know."

Perturabo takes a deep breath, beginning to calculate in his mind how many newtons of force it would take to throw these two little brats out of the Shipyard.

Magnus stands next to them.

Holding a thick book in his hand, but his gaze remains fixed outside the observation window.

"According to the psionic fluctuations, Father and Jaghatai should arrive within three minutes. I can sense their fleet."

Leman Russ widens his eyes.

"Three minutes? Are you sure?"

Magnus nods.

"Psionics do not lie."

Leman Russ immediately turns toward the observation window, wishing he could press his face against the glass.

"Father! Father is coming back!"

Fulgrim walks elegantly to his side, also looking out the window.

"Leman, you're about to crush the glass."

"I don't care! I want to be the first to see Father!"

Standing at the very front, Mother Ying turns around, smiling as she watches these children.

Finally, her gaze fell upon Yingxin beside her.

Yingxin, wearing a pink dress with two small braids in her hair, had large eyes that blinked incessantly as she stared out the viewing window.

Her small hand gripped her grandmother's hand tightly, her face full of anticipation.

"Grandmother, when will Uncle arrive?"

Mother Ying bent down and gently stroked her head.

"Soon, sweetheart. Brother Magnus says in three minutes."

Yingxin nodded and continued to stare out the window.

Leman Russ leaned over and crouched down in front of her.

"Little sister, when Father returns, I will take you to see Jaghatai's warship! It's huge! Bigger than a hundred houses!"

Yingxin's eyes lit up.

"Really?"

"Of course!"

Leman Russ patted his chest.

"I keep my word!"

Fulgrim walked over elegantly and bent down.

"Xiaoxiner, I recently learned how to make a new dessert using a fruit from a frontier planet. Shall we eat it together in a little while?"

Yingxin nodded vigorously.

"Okay!"

Alpharius and Omegon also crowded over, standing on her left and right.

"Xiaoxiner, we have prepared a gift for you."

"Guess what it is?"

Yingxin tilted her head and thought for a moment.

"Is it... is it a toy?"

"Wrong!"

"Is it a book?"

"Also wrong!"

"Is it... is it a little pet?"

The twins looked at each other and laughed.

"It's a secret!"

"We'll give it to you when Father returns!"

Yingxin was amused and giggled.

Mother Ying watched all of this with a smile, her eyes full of affection.

These children, who were usually Primarchs that made enemies tremble in fear, generals who commanded thousands of troops, and cold and ruthless warriors.

But in front of Yingxin, they were just ordinary brothers, ordinary doting figures, and ordinary people willing to give everything for her.

Perturabo stood in the back, watching this scene, the expression on his face still twisted.

He hesitated for a moment, then also walked over.

"That..."

He cleared his throat.

"Little one, I happened to have a failed project recently that I was planning to throw away; if you want it, I suppose I can give it to you."
