Chapter 1281: The Situation of Curze
The dining room of the living area.
The long dining table was covered with all kinds of food: roasted meat, stews, bread, fruit, desserts...
And beside the table, Leman Russ was eliminating this food at an astonishing speed.
In front of where the young Leman Russ sat, there were at least five stacks of empty plates, and he was still clutching a roasted leg in his hand, tearing into it with big bites.
His long golden hair was scattered loosely, his face was stained with sauce, and a piece of meat hung from the corner of his mouth.
"Leman, can you eat a little slower?"
Fulgrim frowned.
"Your table manners are uglier than the wild wolves outside."
"%¥#¥#@%¥......"
Leman Russ gave a garbled reply, his mouth stuffed with meat; no one could hear what he was saying.
Fulgrim shook his head.
"Can't you swallow the food in your mouth before you speak?"
Leman Russ swallowed the meat in his mouth and took a large gulp of fruit juice before speaking.
"I said, I'm hungry! I'm still growing, I need to eat more!"
Fulgrim rolled his eyes elegantly.
"You're growing every day. You eat like this every day. Do you know the kitchen staff says you can eat the portion of five people by yourself?"
Leman Russ didn't care at all.
"That's because they haven't seen how Angron ate when he was young. This is nothing."
On the sofa in the corner, Angron raised his head.
"I heard that."
Leman Russ chuckled.
"So what if you heard it. I'm telling the truth. Grandmother said you could eat a whole roasted suckling pig in one sitting when you were young."
Angron was not angry. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly, a gentle smile.
"That was in the past."
Leman Russ tore off another piece of meat.
"So you've stopped growing now."
Angron ignored him.
Guilliman watched this scene, a warmth rising in his heart.
This was home. Noisy and bustling, everyone being themselves, everyone comfortable and at ease.
He looked down at Yingxin in his arms.
"Have you eaten?"
Yingxin nodded.
"I have. Brother Fulgrim made me dessert; it was delicious."
Guilliman looked toward Fulgrim.
Fulgrim smiled slightly.
"A new pastry I learned, made with a fruit from the planet Chimika. She likes it very much."
Guilliman nodded.
"Thank you for your hard work."
Fulgrim shook his head.
"It's no trouble. Seeing her eat happily makes me happy."
Guilliman's gaze fell on another corner of the living room.
There, by the floor-to-ceiling window, two people were sitting on the windowsill.
Angron was wearing simple casual clothes, his face calm, his eyes gentle.
Sitting opposite him was a boy.
Kangla De Kezi.
He looked a little older than Yingxin, his expression very flat, showing no emotion.
Angron was talking to him.
Guilliman walked over, holding Yingxin.
"Angron."
Angron raised his head, saw Guilliman, and a smile appeared on his face.
"Guilliman. You're back?"
Guilliman nodded.
"Just got back. What are you two talking about?"
Angron looked at Curze, then said.
"Just chatting. Curze wants to understand some things about the Feng Qi Xing Alliance."
Guilliman's eyebrows arched slightly.
"The Feng Qi Xing Alliance? You're interested in that war?"
Curze raised his head and looked at Guilliman.
"I want to know why they lost."
Guilliman sat down opposite him and placed Yingxin on his lap.
"Why do you think they lost?"
Curze thought for a moment.
"Because they were weak?"
Guilliman was stunned for a moment, then laughed.
"Who told you that?"
Curze glanced at Angron.
Angron shook his head.
"Not me. He thought of it himself."
Guilliman looked at Curze.
"You are right. The Feng Qi Xing Alliance is indeed not very powerful. But it is not because they overestimate themselves, but because they do not understand their enemy. They do not understand our strength, do not understand our determination, and do not understand what we are fighting for."
Curze asked.
"What are we fighting for?"
Guilliman looked at him.
"For Humanity. So that every Human can live like a person. Without being enslaved, without being bullied, and without having to spend every day in fear."
Curze was in Silence for a long time.
Then he said.
"Then what if one day, the enemy is stronger than us?"
The room was quiet for a moment.
Angron looked at Curze, a trace of heartache flashing in his eyes.
This brother was always thinking of the worst possibility.
Guilliman looked at Curze and said earnestly.
"Then become stronger."
Curze raised his head.
"What if we still can't beat them after becoming stronger?"
Guilliman said.
"Then find a way. Use wisdom, use strategy, use everything that can be used. If you can't beat them, go around them. If you can't go around them, drag them down. If you can't drag them down, leave behind seeds and wait for those who come after to continue the fight."
He paused.
"There is a saying... right, there will always be those who come after."
Curze looked at him, a glimmer of light flashing in those black eyes.
"Did Father say this?"
Guilliman nodded.
"Father said it."
Curze was in Silence for a few seconds, then nodded and did not speak again.
But Guilliman noticed that his shoulders relaxed a little.
Yingxin snuggled in Guilliman's arms, looking at this one and then that one, and suddenly spoke up.
"Brother Curze, don't be afraid. If anyone bullies you, I'll help you beat them up!"
Curze looked at her, and his expression finally changed a little.
"You? You can't even beat Magnus at chess."
Yingxin's face wrinkled up again.
"Playing chess is different from fighting! I'm good at fighting!"
Fulgrim leaned over from the sofa.
"Since when do you know how to fight?"
Yingxin said righteously.
"Brother Leman taught me! He said that to fight, you have to be fast, accurate, and ruthless, and knock them down with one punch!"
"Mm! Right! #@¥¥! That's right! %¥%#......"
Leman Russ responded vaguely from beside the dining table, his mouth stuffed with meat again.
Fulgrim shook his head helplessly.
"Leman, can you teach her something good?"
Leman Russ swallowed the meat in his mouth.
"What's wrong with fighting? Girls need to know how to fight too! What if someone bullies her?"
Fulgrim wanted to say "with us here, no one would dare to bully her," but after looking at Yingxin's earnest little face, he swallowed his words back.
"Fine. Knowing how to fight is fine too."
Yingxin lifted her little face proudly.
Guilliman carried Yingxin back to the chessboard. Magnus had already put the chess pieces away and was reading a new book.
"Magnus."
Guilliman said.
Magnus looked up.
"Guilliman. Are you done talking with Curze?"
Guilliman nodded and sat down on the sofa.
"Talked for a bit."
Magnus glanced at Curze.
"But his way of thinking is different from ours."
Guilliman asked.
"How is it different?"
Magnus thought for a moment.
"When we think about problems, we start from a single point and look into the distance. He thinks about problems by starting from countless points and looking in the same direction."
Guilliman's brows furrowed slightly.
"What does that mean?"
Magnus said.
"He can see many possibilities. Good ones, bad ones, those in between, and extreme ones. All possibilities exist in his mind simultaneously. That is why he is always thinking about the worst-case scenario, because he can truly see those worst-case possibilities."
Guilliman fell into Silence.
Every future could potentially come true.
Guilliman looked at Curze by the window.
The child was still sitting on the windowsill, with Angron saying something beside him; he listened quietly, nodding occasionally.
"He needs help."
Guilliman said.
Magnus nodded.
"Yes. He needs an anchor to let him know which possibilities will actually happen and which are merely possible. He needs someone to tell him that the worst-case scenario does not necessarily come true. He needs someone to stay with him so that he is not so afraid."
Guilliman asked.
"Can you do it?"
Magnus thought for a moment.
"For this, aside from the help Angron can provide, we can only offer the understanding and companionship of family. The rest he must rely on himself for."
He paused.
"However, with Angron there, at least he will not be alone."
Yingxin yawned in Guilliman's arms.
Guilliman looked down at her.
"Sleepy?"
Yingxin shook her head.
"Not sleepy. Brother Guilliman, tell me a story."
Guilliman smiled.
"What kind of story?"
Yingxin thought for a moment.
"Tell me a story about you fighting a war. The kind where you fight big bad guys."
Guilliman looked in the direction of Angron and Curze, then looked at Fulgrim and Leman Russ.
"Alright. I will tell a story about fighting a war."
Yingxin immediately perked up and sat up straight.
Guilliman began to speak.
"Once upon a time, there was a planet..."
