Chapter 1307: The Unaware Pirates (1)

~7 min read 1,381 words

The deputy fell into Silence.

Waluoke took a sip of wine, his gaze landing on the Gladiator Arena.

"That Sota, not bad. Whose subordinate is he?"

The deputy took a look.

"He belongs to 'Blood Hand' Geluke. Geluke bought him from the slave market; he spent quite a bit of money."

Waluoke nodded.

"Let him keep fighting. Once he's fought enough, send him to the mines. If he can work, let him work; if he can't work, feed him to the dogs."

The deputy nodded.

"Yes."

Waluoke leaned back on the sofa, watching those crazed pirates in the Gladiator Arena, and cursed under his breath.

"These idiots. All they know is drinking, gambling, and watching gladiator fights. The fleet of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance is right at our doorstep, and they aren't the least bit worried."

The deputy said cautiously.

"Waluoke, perhaps they really won't come? After all, the terrain of the Shattered Star Belt..."

Waluoke interrupted him.

"I said, they will come. They definitely will. Just because the Feng Qi Xing Alliance can't do anything about us doesn't mean the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance can't either. They are different."

The deputy fell into Silence.

Waluoke stubbed out his cigar in the ashtray.

"Go, call Kaloke here."

The deputy nodded and turned to leave.

In a corner at the edge of the Gladiator Arena, Kaloke sat alone.

On the table in front of him sat a glass of wine that had barely been touched, his gaze fixed on the reveling pirates in the Gladiator Arena.

"Kaloke."

Waluoke's deputy walked over.

"Waluoke is calling for you."

Kaloke looked up at him.

"What is it?"

The deputy shook his head.

"I don't know. You'll know when you get there."

Kaloke stood up and followed the deputy toward the VIP area.

Passing by the Gladiator Arena, he saw a mutant fighting a Lizardman.

The mutant's compound eyes shimmered with an eerie light under the lamps, its Claw leaving deep scratches on the Lizardman's scales.

The Lizardman roared, sweeping its tail across and knocking the mutant back.

The pirates screamed crazily.

"Mutant! Mutant!"

"Lizardman! Bite it to death!"

Kaloke didn't look much longer and continued walking toward the VIP area.

The VIP area.

Kaloke sat down opposite Waluoke.

"You looking for me?"

Waluoke looked at him.

"Kaloke, how long have you been hanging around the Shattered Star Belt?"

Kaloke thought for a moment.

"Three hundred years."

Waluoke asked.

"Have you ever seen the fleet of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance?"

Kaloke shook his head.

"No. But I have heard of them recently."

Waluoke leaned back against the chair.

"Tell me."

Kaloke fell into Silence for a few seconds.

"They are different. We've dealt with the fleet of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance. Their Commander is conservative, and their soldiers are afraid of death. But the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance..."

He paused.

"They aren't afraid of death. Their soldiers are space marines. One man can fight a hundred ordinary soldiers. Their ships are warships. Our ships are like paper in front of them."

Waluoke asked.

"Do you think we can win?"

Kaloke shook his head.

"We can't win. But we can hide. The Shattered Star Belt is big enough; they won't be able to find us. As long as we don't go out, they can't do anything to us."

Waluoke fell into Silence for a long time.

Then he said.

"What if they come in?"

Kaloke looked at him.

"Enter? Their ships are so big, can they even get in?"

Waluoke did not answer.

Kaloke continued.

"Waluoke, I know what you are worried about. But the Shattered Star Belt is our territory. We have lived here for hundreds of years, familiar with every shipping lane, every asteroid. No matter how strong they are, once they enter the Shattered Star Belt, they will get lost."

Waluoke nodded in agreement.

"Still, we must strengthen our vigilance."

"That goes without saying."

In the Gladiator Arena, the mutant tore open the Lizardman's throat.

Fresh blood sprayed out, the Lizardman's body twitched a few times, then went still.

The pirates erupted in earth-shattering cheers.

"The mutant won! The mutant won!"

"Odds are one to five! I bet on the mutant! Made a fortune!"

"Another round! Another round!"

The bookie stood on a high platform, waving his four arms, shouting loudly.

"Next round! Next round! Feilin versus Sota! Odds are one to two! Place your bets!"

The pirates swarmed toward the betting counter again.

A young Feilin squeezed to the front of the betting counter and took out a handful of Energy Crystals.

"I bet on the Sota! All of it!"

The bookie took the Energy Crystals and recorded it quickly.

"Betting on the Sota, all of it! Good!"

The young Feilin squeezed out of the crowd and returned to his seat.

An older Feilin next to him looked at him.

"Are you crazy? Betting everything?"

The young Feilin laughed.

"What's there to fear? The Sota fought so well in the last round, they will definitely win this one too."

The older Feilin shook his head.

"That is not how you gamble. You will lose everything."

The young Feilin was indifferent.

"If I lose it all, I'll just go rob more. I heard the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance transport ships are coming soon; there will be plenty of cargo then."

The older Feilin did not respond.

He looked up at the center of the Gladiator Arena, where two new slaves were being driven into the arena.

One was a bulky Sota with four arms and bulging muscles.

The other was a thin Feilin, holding a rusted energy sword in both hands.

The Sota roared and charged at the Feilin.

The Feilin dodged to the side and struck back with his sword, leaving a deep wound on the Sota's arm.

The Sota roared in anger, turned, and lunged again.

Around the Gladiator Arena, the pirates' shouting was deafening.

Next to the Gladiator Arena was a row of taverns.

The liveliest one was called "The Drunkard's Rest."

The tavern was packed with pirates, and the smell of low-quality alcohol was suffocating.

Several scantily clad alien slaves wove through the crowd, carrying trays filled with wine glasses.

Behind the bar, a fat mutant was wiping glasses.

His compound eyes were half-open and half-closed, a greasy smile hanging on the corners of his mouth.

"Another one!"

A drunken Lizardman slapped the bar.

The mutant poured a glass of wine and pushed it over.

The Lizardman downed it in one gulp and let out a drunken burp.

"Refreshing!"

A Sota nearby laughed and said.

"You can still drink? You've already had ten glasses just now."

The Lizardman grinned.

"Ten glasses? That's nothing! Another ten would be no problem!"

The Sota laughed loudly.

"Good! Let's drink until we drop today!"

They clinked glasses and continued drinking.

In the corner, an older Feilin sat alone, a glass of barely touched wine in front of him.

His name was Geluke, and he was one of the biggest slave traders in the Shattered Star Belt.

A young Feilin walked over and sat down next to him.

"Geluke, why aren't you drinking?"

Geluke looked at him.

"Drink? What is there to drink about?"

The young Feilin smiled.

"To celebrate. The transport ships of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance are coming soon, and we are going to

get rich again."

Geluke shook his head.

"Get rich? Do you know what the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance is?"

The young Feilin was stunned for a moment.

"What is it?"

Geluke said.

"It is a monster. A monster that could even wipe out the Feng Qi Xing Alliance. Do you think they are the same as those transport ships we robbed before?"

The young Feilin fell into Silence.

Geluke continued.

"I know how the Feng Qi Xing Alliance fights. But the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance is different. Their fleet is stronger, their soldiers are more ruthless, and their Commander is smarter."

He paused.

"And, they do not surrender. Nor do they accept surrender."

The young Feilin's expression changed.

"Geluke, are you trying to scare us?"

Geluke shook his head.

"Not scaring. Warning. Don't be too arrogant. If you're arrogant, you'll die. I'm still going to finish this job and leave the Shattered Star Belt early."
