Chapter 1308: The Unknowing Pirates (2)

~6 min read 1,122 words

The slave market behind the tavern.

Hundreds of slaves of various races are locked here, waiting to be bought.

Some are sold to mines, some to the Gladiator Arena, some to taverns, and some to even more wretched places.

In an iron cage, several young Feilin are locked up.

Their bodies are curled together, shivering.

An older Feilin leans against the iron bars, watching the pirates coming and going outside.

"Will we die?"

A young Feilin asks in a low voice.

The older Feilin remains silent for a long time.

"I don't know."

The young Feilin asks.

"What if the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance attacks? Will they save us?"

The older Feilin smiles bitterly.

"Save us? In their eyes, we are the same as those pirates—all Aliens. They will not save us."

The young Feilin's face turns deathly pale.

"Then... what do we do?"

The older Feilin looks at him.

"Wait. Wait for an opportunity. Wait for a chance to escape. Wait for a chance to survive."

The VIP area.

Waluoke sits on the sofa, watching the frenzied pirates in the Gladiator Arena.

The deputy walks over.

"Waluoke, Kaloke has already gone to make arrangements. Scout ships at all entrances have increased their vigilance."

Waluoke nods.

"Good."

The deputy hesitates for a moment.

"Waluoke, are you being too nervous? If the fleet of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance were really coming, we would have discovered them long ago. Now there is no movement at all; perhaps they are really not coming?"

Waluoke looks at him.

"You are also an old pirate. Do you think they won't come?"

The deputy is silent.

Waluoke stands up and walks to the window.

Dark red starlight flickers in the gaps between the asteroids.

"They will definitely come. It is only a matter of time."

At the edge of the core region of the Shattered Star Belt, the Thunderhawk of the Second Company Commander hovers silently behind an asteroid.

They followed that pirate ship the whole way and finally arrived at the outskirts of the Nest of the Faithless.

From here, one can see the hollowed-out asteroid and the hundreds of pirate ships docked in the port.

"Company Commander, we have arrived."

The pilot says in a low voice.

The Second Company Commander stares at the sensor screen.

"What about the other companies?"

"Still on the way. The fastest ones will take another ten minutes."

The Second Company Commander thinks for a moment.

"Don't wait."

He presses the Communication Device.

"Second Company calling flagship. We have reached the target area. Requesting to initiate the attack."

Ake's voice comes through the Communication Device.

"Confirmed. Other companies are on their way. You take the lead."

The Second Company Commander releases the communication key.

"Understood."

He turns around and looks at the nine warriors behind him.

"Brothers, are you ready?"

"Ready!" the warriors answer in unison.

The Second Company Commander nods.

"Good. Move out."

The Thunderhawk's engines roar violently, rushing out from behind the asteroid and pouncing toward the port of the Nest of the Faithless.

Core region of the Shattered Star Belt, outskirts of the Nest of the Faithless.

Second Company Commander Sailusi stands by the hatch of the Thunderhawk Gunship, one hand gripping the handle on the cabin ceiling, the other hand holding a Bolter.

The yellow Power Armor glows dimly under the dark red starlight, and the emblem of the Lamenters on the left shoulder pad is particularly striking.

Behind him, nine Lamenters Space Marines are also fully armed, Bolters loaded, Chainswords preheated, waiting for the moment the hatch opens.

The Thunderhawk Gunship weaves between the asteroids, the roar of its engines suppressed to the minimum.

"Company Commander, there are Alien pirate Anti-Air Cannons ahead. At least six, distributed on the outskirts of the port."

The voice of Sailusi came from the helmet, calm and cold.

"Go around."

"We cannot go around. They cover all approach lanes to the port."

"Then charge through."

The Thunderhawk Gunship accelerated abruptly, rushing out from behind a small asteroid and pouncing toward the port of the Nest of the Faithless.

Alarm sirens sounded suddenly.

The Anti-Air Cannon batteries on the perimeter of the port began to fire.

Energy Beams poured down like a rainstorm, carving blinding trajectories through the starry sky.

The Thunderhawk Gunship wove through the barrage.

The rocks on both sides were struck, shattering into countless fragments.

"Port side hit!"

The Thunderhawk shook violently, and the alarm sirens blared piercingly.

Sailusi grabbed the handrail, steadying his body.

"Damage report!"

"Engine damaged!"

Sailusi watched the Nest of the Faithless drawing ever closer outside the window.

The port was right before his eyes, but the density of the Anti-Air Cannon fire was becoming higher and higher.

"Prepare to land."

The Lamenters Space Marines behind him gripped their weapons in unison.

"Where do we jump?"

Sailusi pointed to the hollowed-out asteroid ahead.

"There. The outer wall next to the port."

"There is no hatch there."

"We don't need a hatch. Ram it."

The pilot did not hesitate; the Thunderhawk Gunship accelerated and charged toward the outer wall of the Nest of the Faithless.

Another thick Energy Beam struck the tail of the Thunderhawk.

The engine exploded, the Thunderhawk lost control, and it spun as it crashed toward the surface of the asteroid.

"Jump!"

The hatch blew open, and Sailusi was the first to jump out.

The Thunderhawk Gunship exploded behind him, the fire blooming silently in the vacuum.

Debris scattered and splashed, striking the surface of the asteroid and kicking up a cloud of gravel and dust.

Sailusi landed on the outer wall of the Nest of the Faithless.

His Power Armor absorbed most of the impact, but the force of the collision still made him roll a few times on the ground.

He quickly scrambled up, his Bolter pointed at his surroundings.

Behind him, nine warriors landed one after another.

Sailusi looked up at the massive rock wall above.

"Cut it open."

Two warriors stepped forward and took out Plasma Cutters.

Orange flames cut a circular hole into the rock wall.

The rock melted, and smoke rose.

Soon, a thick slab of rock collapsed with a boom, revealing a dark passage. Piercing alarm sirens and chaotic footsteps came from within the passage.

Sailusi was the first to charge inside.

In the passage, several pirates were running.

They were Feilin, wearing tattered combat suits and holding various mismatched weapons.

Seeing Sailusi charge in from the hole, they shouted loudly.

"Ene..."

The lead pirate had only managed to shout one word before Severus's Bolter had already fired.

A single bolt round struck his chest with precision.

Blood and shredded flesh splattered, the corpse fell backward, hitting the wall and leaving a shocking bloodstain.
