Chapter 1325: The Bugs That Eat Everything

~7 min read 1,281 words

Salmox was silent.

Xanos continued to speak.

"The Canaanites are indeed stupid; they opened something that should not have been opened. But now is not the time to assign blame. Those bugs have already appeared on the border of the Ash Star Alliance, and our planets are suffering as well."

He stood up and walked to the window.

Outside the window, the sky of Fenmie Star burned forever with orange-red flames.

"Notify all fleets to assemble at the border. Move every ship that can be mobilized there. At the same time, notify the colonial planets on the border to organize civilian evacuations. Evacuate as many as possible."

Salmox nodded.

"Yes, Archon."

Xanos turned around and looked at him.

"Also, notify the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance."

Salmox was stunned for a moment.

"The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance? Archon, they are..."

Xanos raised his hand to interrupt him.

"I know. But those bugs don't just eat Canaanites, nor do they just eat the Ash People. They eat everything. If the bug plague spreads to the territory of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, they will suffer too. Rather than waiting for them to come to us, it is better that we tell them first."

Salmox nodded.

"Understood."

The eastern border of the Ash Star Alliance, Wa'erduosi Star.

This planet was one of the three planets where the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance had stationed troops.

Ever since the negotiations with the Corax delegation ended, the 72nd Regiment of the Cadian Shock Troops had been stationed here.

At this moment, the atmosphere on the streets of Wa'erduosi City was more tense than usual.

The Ash residents gathered in twos and threes, whispering to each other.

Their four eyes were full of anxiety, and their dark red skin looked exceptionally dull under the sunlight.

The horns on their heads trembled slightly in the wind.

"Have you heard? Something happened over at the Canaan Star Alliance."

An Ash Person said.

Another Ash Person nodded.

"I heard. Some kind of bugs, coming out of a rift. They've eaten dozens of planets."

"Dozens? More than that. I heard the entire Viridian Sector is finished. Tens of billions of people, all gone."

"Tens of billions? That must be how many..."

"I don't know. A lot, anyway."

"What about our side? Are there bugs at the border too?"

"Yes. Those outposts in the east have already lost contact."

The Ash People fell silent.

An older Ash Person spoke up.

"Do those people from the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance know?"

Another Ash Person shook his head.

"I don't know. They stay in their base all day and don't come out. They don't care about things outside either."

The older Ash Person snorted.

"Of course they don't care. They are only here to garrison troops, not to protect us."

A young Ash Person said.

"Then what if the bugs attack us here? Will they not care then?"

The older Ash Person was silent for a second.

"I don't know. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Who knows."

Northern suburbs of Wa'erduosi City, Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance garrison base.

A Patrol Squad was conducting a routine patrol on the outskirts of the base.

Five Cadian Shock Troops soldiers, holding Laser Rifles, were riding in a Chimera Armored Vehicle, driving slowly along the base's perimeter wall.

The vehicle commander was a veteran named Ake.

"Commander, look over there."

The driver pointed into the distance.

Ake looked in the direction of his finger. In the distance, several Ash People were gathered together, talking excitedly about something.

"Stop the vehicle."

Ake said.

The armored vehicle stopped.

Ake jumped off the vehicle and walked toward the Ash People.

Seeing him, the Ash People's expressions became guarded.

"What are you talking about?" Ake asked.

An Ash Person hesitated for a moment.

"Nothing. Just chatting."

Ake looked at him.

"Chatting? Your faces say 'something happened.' Speak."

The Ash People exchanged a look. The older one spoke.

"Something major has happened over at the Canaan Star Alliance. Bugs. They came out of a rift. They've eaten several dozen planets. Tens of billions of people are gone."

Ake's brow furrowed.

"Bugs? What kind of bugs?"

The Ash People shook their heads.

"Don't know. Never seen them. Heard they are very powerful. The Canaanite fleet couldn't stop them, and the Ashes fleet couldn't stop them either."

Ake fell into Silence for a second.

"Is the information reliable?"

The Ash People nodded.

"Reliable. The bugs may have already reached the border of the Ash Star Alliance."

Ake turned and jumped onto the armored vehicle.

"Back to base."

The armored vehicle turned around and drove toward the base.

Garrison base, Command Center.

Ake walked quickly into the Command Center and came to the Communication Room.

"Officer, there is an emergency."

He said to the Communications Officer.

The Communications Officer looked at him.

"What is it?"

Arktes said.

"There is news from the Ash People. Something major has happened in the Canaan Star Alliance. The Zerg came out of a rift and ate several dozen planets. The Canaanite fleet couldn't stop them, and the Ashes fleet couldn't stop them either. The bugs may have already reached the border of the Ash Star Alliance."

The Communications Officer's brow furrowed.

"Zerg? What kind of Zerg?"

Arktes shook his head.

"Don't know. The Ash People aren't clear either. But the news should be reliable."

"I will report it immediately."

He opened the encrypted communication channel and began to send the message.

"Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance Headquarters, this is the Wa'erduosi Star garrison. Received emergency intelligence: Unknown Zerg have appeared on the western border of the Canaan Star Alliance, having already Devoured dozens of planets; both the Canaan Fleet and the Ashes Fleet are unable to resist. The Zerg may have already spread to the border of the Ash Star Alliance. Requesting further instructions."

The message was sent.

Xiuluo Holy Star, Primarch Residential Area, Yingzhou's study.

Yingzhou sat before his desk, a Holographic Star Map in front of him.

His two eyes stared at the area on the star map marked "Canaan Star Alliance," his brow furrowing slightly.

Luojia stood beside him, holding a piece of intelligence that had just been received.

"Father, the Wa'erduosi Star garrison sent a message. Unknown Zerg have appeared on the western border of the Canaan Star Alliance, having already Devoured dozens of planets. Both the Canaan Fleet and the Ashes Fleet are unable to resist. The Zerg may have already spread to the border of the Ash Star Alliance."

Yingzhou took the intelligence and scanned it quickly.

"Zerg? What kind of Zerg?"

Luojia shook his head.

"Not clear. The Ash People don't know either. But the news should be reliable. The Ash outpost in the east has already lost contact."

Yingzhou fell into Silence for a second.

"What is the Canaan Star Alliance doing? How could Zerg suddenly appear?"

Luojia said.

"Father, according to the intelligence, the Canaan Star Alliance has been researching mirror rifts. It is possible their experiment went wrong, releasing those bugs from the rift."

A cold light flashed in Yingzhou's eyes.

"Mirror rifts. That thing again."

He stood up and walked to the window.

"Notify Guilliman and have him contact the Canaan Star Alliance and the Ash Star Alliance to figure out what exactly happened."

Luojia nodded.

"Yes, Father."

Yingzhou turned and looked at him.

"Also, notify the Weepers Chapter closest to the Canaan Star Alliance to stand by at all times."

Luojia nodded.

"Understood."

After Luojia left, Yingzhou felt a sense of unease; if the Zerg came out of a mirror rift, it was very likely they were the Tyranid.

If it were the Tyranid, then things would become troublesome.
