Chapter 1328: We Are Merely an Insignificant Unit Within the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance
The holographic projection dissipated.
Xanos sat in the main seat, silent for a long time.
Salmox asked cautiously.
"Archon, do you trust them?"
Xanos looked at him.
"I do not."
Salmox was stunned for a moment.
"Then why did you agree?"
Xanos stood up and walked to the window.
"Because I have no choice."
He looked at the orange-red sky outside the window.
"Salmox, do you know what the 'Tyranid' that Luojia spoke of is?"
Salmox shook his head.
Xanos said.
"I don't know. But I do know that something capable of making the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance mobilize a large force to deal with it is definitely not something we can handle alone."
He turned around and looked at Salmox.
"Notify the fleet to cooperate with the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance. Do not act on your own initiative."
Salmox nodded.
"Yes, Archon."
Xanos said in a low voice.
"I hope we can survive."
Sixty-two hours.
The fleet of the Weepers Chapter departed from the Shattered Star Belt and finally arrived at the eastern border of the Ash Star Alliance, the Eruida xingqu.
Chapter Master Aktes stood before the observation window, looking at the unfamiliar starry sky outside.
The stars of the Ash Star Alliance appeared more dark red here.
"Chapter Master, the Ash Star Alliance fleet has been detected ahead," Adjutant Flavius walked over, "They have sent escort ships."
Aktes nodded.
"Move in closer."
The fleet decelerated, slowly approaching the defensive line of the Ash Star Alliance.
Outside the window, the Ash Star Alliance fleet was deployed in the starry sky, dense and numerous.
But Aktes saw their weaknesses at a glance: the formation was too loose, firepower points were unevenly distributed, and there was a lack of depth in the defense.
An assault ship of the Ash Star Alliance approached, and docking was successful.
The hatch opened, and a burly Ash Person with four sharp eyes walked in.
He wore the military uniform of the Ash Star Alliance, his chest covered in medals, six curved horns growing on his head, his skin dark red, his gait steady.
"I am the supreme commander of the eastern defensive line of the Ash Star Alliance, General Modrak. Welcome to the Eruida xingqu."
Aktes nodded slightly.
"Chapter Master of the Weepers Chapter, Aktes. Our fleet is already in position."
Modrak looked at him, a flash of complex emotion in his four eyes.
"You... are the vanguard of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance?"
Aktes said.
"Yes. Other legions are on their way. We are the first batch."
Modrak was silent for a second.
"Your ships... the quantity does not seem to be large."
Aktes said.
"That is not a problem; we are merely an insignificant unit within the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance."
Modrak did not refute this.
He turned to the side and made a gesture of invitation.
"Please. I will take you to see the defensive line."
The defensive line of the Ash Star Alliance was set up on a planet at the edge of the Eruida xingqu, Eridanus III.
This was a rocky planet; its geographical location was critical, as it was the only path for the Zerg to enter the Ash Star Alliance from the direction of the Canaan Star Alliance.
On the surface of the planet, the engineering troops of the Ash Star Alliance were working day and night to build defensive fortifications.
Trenches, bunkers, gun emplacements, and minefields were dense and numerous, covering an area of millions of square kilometers.
Seen from orbit, it looked as if the earth was covered in scars.
Aktes took Flavius and several Company Commanders and landed on the planet's surface in a Thunderhawk Gunship.
Modrak's shuttle followed closely behind.
The Thunderhawk landed at the temporarily constructed Spaceport. The hatch opened, and Aktes walked out.
The engineering troops of the Ash Star Alliance were busy; transport ships were taking off and landing, and construction machinery was roaring.
Modrak walked to his side.
"Chapter Master, what do you think of our defensive line?"
Aktes looked around and was silent for a few seconds.
Then he said.
"Not very good."
Modrak's expression changed slightly.
"What do you mean?"
Arcturus pointed to the trenches in the distance.
"Your trenches are dug too shallow. The Tyranid can leap right over them. Their Scything Talons can tear through Steel, and your bunkers won't hold them back."
He pointed to the gun emplacements again.
"Your gun emplacements are spread out too thin. The firepower cannot support itself. The Zerg will concentrate on a breakthrough at one point, then flank you from the sides."
He pointed to the minefield again.
"The coverage of the minefield is too small. The number of Zerg is thousands of times yours; they could flatten this little minefield just by walking over it."
Modrak's expression grew increasingly ugly.
"Chapter Master, our engineers have already done their best..."
Arcturus interrupted him.
"I am not criticizing you. I am telling you how to change it."
He looked at Modrak.
"How much time is left?"
Modrak said.
"According to reconnaissance, the main force of the Zerg is still in the Viridian Sector of the Canaan Star Alliance. They are currently Devouring those planets, and it is estimated... they will arrive here in twenty-seven hours."
Arcturus nodded.
"Twenty-seven hours. That is enough."
He turned around to face Flavius.
"Pull up the topographical map of Eridanus III."
Flavius operated quickly, and a holographic topographical map unfolded between the two.
Arcturus pointed to several key locations on the map.
"Here, here, and here. Change these into three layers of defense."
His finger drew three lines on the map.
"The first layer, the attrition layer. Shallow trenches, minefields, Automatic Cannons. No need for heavy troop defense, just slow down the speed of the Zerg."
"The second layer, the Intercept layer. Deep trenches, bunkers, heavy artillery. This must be guarded by heavy troops to block the main force of the Zerg."
"The third layer, the decisive battle layer. Fortress, Titan firepower points, the final line of defense. If the Zerg break through the first two layers, we fight to the death here."
He looked at Modrak.
"Your fleet, do not stay in orbit. Disperse to both sides of the planet to form crossfire. The Zerg Bio-ships will attack from the front, and you will strike them from the flanks."
Modrak recorded quickly.
"With these changes, is there enough time?"
Arcturus looked at him.
"Enough. How many people are in your engineering corps?"
Modrak said.
"Five million."
Arcturus said.
"That is enough. I will assign the Tasks."
