Chapter 1341: The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance Arrives at Chengjia Star
Aboard the *Silence*, Mortarion sat in the command chair, a holographic star map before him; his fleet was sailing toward the direction of the Canaan Star Alliance.
The Adjutant walked over.
"Father, we have received news from the Canaan Star Alliance ahead. They have opened a passage for us, allowing us to enter the Octavia Sector directly."
Mortarion nodded.
"Notify all ships to maintain course."
"Also, Vulkan's Salamanders Legion is assembling as the second fleet. They will depart after us."
At this moment, Nuochaqigan walked over, his Guardian Spear resting on his shoulder.
"Lord Mortarion, what are you worried about?"
Mortarion looked at him.
"Nothing."
Nuochaqigan said.
"Your brow is furrowed quite tightly."
Mortarion was silent for a second.
"I am wondering where the main force of the Zerg actually is."
Nuochaqigan asked.
"Is it not the Canaan Star Alliance?"
Mortarion said.
"It is the Canaan Star Alliance, but not the sector we are going to."
He pointed to a light spot on the star map.
"The main force of the Zerg is in the Viridian Sector; Horus and the others are traveling from the border of the Ashes Star Alliance. The Octavia Sector we are going to is merely the Zerg's flank."
Nuochaqigan nodded.
"So, we are to block the advance of the Tyranid, allowing Horus and the others to focus on fighting the main force and closing the entrance through which the Tyranid are entering."
Mortarion nodded.
"Correct."
Mortarion turned to face the Adjutant.
"Notify all ships to accelerate; we will arrive in the Octavia Sector within three days."
The Adjutant stood at attention and saluted.
"Yes, Father!"
Chengjia Star, Lucas's Command Center.
Lucas stood before the holographic star map, watching that sea of red approaching him.
The Zerg vanguard was still two days away from Chengjia Star. His troops had all entered their positions.
Trenches, bunkers, gun emplacements, minefields—everything that could be built had been built.
He did not have many soldiers, fewer than one million, but every soldier knew that behind them was their home.
"Governor, General Weisi of the Canaan Star Alliance has sent word that the fleet of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance is on its way," the Adjutant reported.
Lucas nodded.
"Notify all troops to take their positions and hold our home."
The officers stood at attention and saluted.
"Yes, Governor!"
The sky of Chengjia Star was still gray-blue.
Lucas stood before the window of the Command Center, staring at that calm sky.
He knew the calm was fake. The Zerg could come at any time.
"Governor! A fleet has been detected in orbit!"
The Adjutant rushed in, his voice tinged with tension.
"Whose is it?"
The Adjutant took a deep breath.
"The Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, the Dusk Raiders Legion; their flagship, the *Silence*, is requesting to land."
Lucas turned, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes.
"Guide them to land."
In orbit, Mortarion's fleet was deploying.
The gray paint shimmered with a cold light under the starlight, like a Steel Great Wall.
The flagship *Silence* broke away from the formation and descended toward the surface of Chengjia Star.
"Father, Governor Lucas of Chengjia Star has sent a welcome signal."
The Adjutant reported.
Mortarion nodded.
"Land. Take one hundred Dusk Raiders; Nuochaqigan will go as well."
The *Silence* landed at the temporary Spaceport outside the capital of Chengjia Star.
The hatch opened, and Mortarion was the first to step out.
His pale-colored Power Armor was particularly striking under the gray-blue sky; his expression was cold and stern, his gray hair neatly combed back.
Behind him, one hundred Dusk Raiders warriors marched out in formation, the sound of their Power Armor footsteps uniform and synchronized.
Nuochaqigan walked at the end; his golden Power Armor and Guardian Spear made him look like a god who had descended.
Lucas stepped forward to meet him.
His two eyes looked at Mortarion, full of awe.
This is the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, the Emperor's progeny, the Primarch? Truly extraordinary.
"Lord Mortarion, Governor of Chengjia Star, Lucas, thanks you and your Legion for coming to support."
Mortarion looked at him.
"When will the Zerg arrive?"
Lucas said.
"According to reconnaissance, in twenty-six hours."
Mortarion nodded.
"Take me to see the defensive lines."
Lucas stepped aside and made a gesture of invitation.
"Please."
The group took a vehicle to the first defensive line of Chengjia Star.
Trenches, bunkers, gun emplacements, minefields; Lucas's soldiers had done their best in the limited time.
But Mortarion saw the flaws at a glance.
He got out of the vehicle, walked to the edge of the trench, squatted down, and touched the sandbags with his hand.
"The trench depth is insufficient; Hormagaunts will leap right over."
He stood up and pointed at the bunkers in the distance.
"There are blind spots in the fields of fire between the bunkers; the Zerg will break through from the blind spots. The density of the minefields is too low; the Zerg can fill a path with their corpses."
Lucas explained.
"My Lord, our resources are limited. Ammunition, construction materials, and manpower are all insufficient."
Mortarion looked at him.
"They are enough now. My fleet has brought construction materials and ammunition, and the Dusk Raiders will help you modify the defensive lines."
A flash of gratitude crossed Lucas's eyes.
"Thank you."
Mortarion turned to face his Adjutant.
"Call up the terrain map of Chengjia Star. All defensive lines are to be modified into a three-tier Fortress style; the Dusk Raiders will be responsible for supervising the construction."
The Adjutant recorded this quickly.
"My Lord, the Cadian Shock Troops and the Death Korps of Krieg are landing; their transport ships have already entered orbit."
Mortarion nodded.
"Let them enter their positions according to the plan."
The transport ships of the Cadian Shock Troops landed at the temporary Spaceport outside the capital of Chengjia Star.
The Cadian soldiers marched out in formation, their khaki uniforms particularly striking in the sunlight.
Colonel Akadi walked at the very front, the scar on his face gleaming white in the sun.
"Form up!"
Akadi roared.
The Cadian soldiers quickly formed into a square, their movements uniform and precise.
Akadi turned to face Lucas.
"The Third, Seventh, and Twelfth Regiments of the Cadian Shock Troops have arrived as ordered. General Commander, Colonel Akadi reports to you."
Lucas nodded.
"Welcome. Where are your positions?"
Akadi called up the Holographic Map and pointed to several key locations on the second defensive line.
"Here, here, and here. The Cadians will be responsible for fire support and embedding soldiers to fight within each position. Our artillery can cover the entire second defensive line and part of the first."
Lucas asked.
"What do you need?"
Akadi said.
"Firing coordinates have already been marked. We only need to confirm the positions of friendly forces to avoid friendly fire."
Lucas nodded.
"I will have someone take you to your positions."
Akadi saluted and turned to face his soldiers.
"Cadians, advance!"
"Cadians stand!"
