Chapter 1362: Zerg Titan (2)

~7 min read 1,221 words

The Zerg offensive not only failed to weaken, but instead became even more frenzied as time passed.

The massive bodies of the Zerg Titans moved slowly across the horizon; each one was a walking catastrophe.

The tracks of the Ultramarines' Rhino transport vehicles crushed the ground covered in Zerg biomass, their heavy armor coated in sticky bodily fluids, while the twin-linked bolters mounted on the sides sprayed continuous fire, tearing the Termagants attempting to approach into shreds.

The Predator Annihilator tanks followed closely behind; as main battle armor units modified from the Rhino chassis, the charging glow of the twin-linked lascannons on their turrets was particularly blinding under the dark red Tianqiong.

Octavius's communication rang out across all channels.

"All armored units, deploy according to the predetermined plan. Predator Annihilators, concentrate fire to suppress the Zerg Titans from the front. Destructor Predators, deploy to the flanks to clear out the swarm's escort units."

Dozens of Predator tanks opened fire simultaneously.

The twin-linked laser cannons exploded against the front of the Zerg Titans, their chitinous carapaces bursting and insect blood spraying, the deep purple fluids evaporated by the residual heat of the laser cannons.

A Zerg Titan's bonesword swept across, striking the side of a Predator tank; the armor tore, internal ammunition detonated, and flames exploded into a fireball amidst the swarm.

The autocannons of the Destructor Predator tanks outputted continuously toward the flanks, armor-piercing shells plowing paths of blood through the swarm.

The heavy bolters in the side weapon bays fired at the same time, blasting the Termagants and Hormagaunts attempting to approach from the sides into fragments.

One Destructor was besieged by three Warriors simultaneously; their boneswords tore through its turret, the crew detonated the ammunition, and the shockwave of the explosion flipped all three Warriors over.

The heavy armor of the Land Raider crushed across the ground.

Its adamantium armor was covered in marks left by Zerg claws, the lascannons and heavy bolters on its flanks fired continuously, the rear hatch opened, and fully armed Ultramarines Space Marines rushed out, quickly establishing a defensive line around the armored vehicle.

Thunderhawk gunships whistled down from orbit.

The missile pylons beneath the main wings fired Hellstrike Missiles in succession, exploding into seas of fire in the densest areas of the swarm.

But the Zerg Spore Crawlers sprayed bio-plasma from the ground toward the sky; the Thunderhawk's armor was covered in corrosive scorch marks, one Thunderhawk was hit in the engine, dragging thick smoke as it crashed toward the ground, exploding into a fireball amidst the swarm.

The Stormraven gunship was faster than the Thunderhawk, its assault cannon sweeping a dense barrage of bullets through the swarm.

The battle was at the very front line,

An Ultramarines Space Marine carrying a melta gun killed a Hive Tyrant under the cover of his teammates.

But the Hive Tyrant's bonesword on the side slashed down, and the veteran was cut in two along with his gun.

Another Ultramarines Space Marine used a plasma gun to fire continuously, destroying the heads of three Tyranid Warriors, but the plasma gun overloaded and exploded, blowing him and the surrounding Zerg into the sky.

The firepower suppression of the armored units bought breathing room for the front line.

Predator tanks blasted cracks into the front of the Zerg Titans, artillery fire harvested the swarm's escort units on the flanks, the Space Marines transported by the Land Raider filled the gaps in the line, and Thunderhawks and Stormravens tore through the Zerg's defensive lines from the air.

But the number of the swarm did not decrease.

A Zerg Titan fell, but the next one was already walking from the depths of the swarm in the direction of the rift.

The Hive Tyrant approached from the flank with its Tyrant Guard.

Hundreds of Tyranid Warriors were mixed into the insect tide.

A swarm of Gargoyles blotted out the sky, continuously pouring bio-plasma downward.

Octavius's voice rang out in the communication device.

"All armored units, switch to armor-piercing shells, concentrate fire on the heads and leg joints of those Titans! Aerial support units, use missiles to attack the side armor of the Titans."

The autocannons of the Predator tanks began armor-piercing fire, the armor-piercing shells blasting cracks into the Titans' chitinous carapaces.

The Thunderhawk gunship's Hellstrike Missiles accurately hit the Titans' spinal joints from the air, the chitinous carapaces burst, the Titans' hind legs began to be unable to support their weight, and their massive bodies tilted forward.

Another Titan attempted to charge toward the Ultramarines' line, but its forward momentum was suppressed by artillery fire, and several consecutive armor-piercing shells hit its front leg joints.

The Zerg Titan's legs burst, its heavy body lost balance and crashed to the ground, the tremor of the ground kicking up tens of meters of Zerg biomass debris and insect blood.

The Zerg's reinforcement speed did not slow down, while the ammunition of the Ultramarines' armored units was consuming rapidly.

A Tech-Priest poked his head out from a Predator tank and said into the communication device.

"Lord Octavius, armor-piercing shells are running low, ammunition reserves are only enough to support one more volley! The Zerg's high-level units are still pouring out from the direction of the rift, there is no sign of the numbers decreasing!"

Octavius looked at the dense red dots on the holographic star map.

"Hold on! They are already at the end of their rope! Do not give up! For the Emperor!"

"For the Omnissiah!"

The array of the Thousand Sons Legion deployed on the periphery of the rift.

Hundreds of Psionics linked into a psionic array, red psionic light forming dense energy links between the mechs, converging onto Magnus.

Magnus hovered in the center of the array, psionic light pouring out from his body, forming an increasingly intense pillar of light in space.

Zoanthropes swarmed from around the rift.

They hovered behind the swarm, using psychic shocks to interfere with the Thousand Sons' array.

"Psionic array, full power output."

Magnus's voice echoed in the communication device.

"All Psionics of the Thousand Sons Legion, channel your power into the nodes. Target: the energy transmission channel the Zerg are using to pour energy into the rift."

A psychic storm exploded in the void.

Red psionic lightning lunged toward the rift like a giant dragon, colliding head-on with the purple energy the Zerg used to maintain the rift.

The two forces entangled, tore, and devoured each other in the air. The Zerg's energy transmission channel began to deform under the impact of the psychic storm, and the purple light at the edge of the rift flickered violently.

The Zerg's Zoanthropes adopted corresponding countermeasures, and a large amount of mental energy poured toward Magnus's array.

Magnus frowned.

"Steady! Ignore the Zoanthropes' attacks. Hold the psionic array, the psionic array must absolutely not disperse!"

Corax's voice came from the communication device.

"Magnus, does the Thousand Sons Legion need reinforcements there? The Raven Guard can send a squad to infiltrate and launch a surprise attack to help the Thousand Sons disperse the Zoanthropes' interference."

Magnus said.

"The Raven Guard's task is to destroy the Anchor Point, not to act as a shield for the Thousand Sons Legion. Leave the Zoanthropes for the Thousand Sons Legion to handle themselves, Corax, focus on the Anchor Point."

"Very well."
