Chapter 1363: Three Join Forces to Close the Rift (1)
The Norn Emissary's massive body fell backward into the pile of Zerg corpses; its head was pierced by a spear, and purple blood slowly seeped from the crack in its brain, trickling down along the chitinous patterns of its head.
Sanguinius stood upon its corpse, his wings folded behind him.
Magnus's voice came through the communication device.
"Sanguinius, the Thousand Sons have cut off the bio-energy the Zerg were pouring into the Rift, and the Rift is shrinking. But the Thousand Sons cannot hold on for too long; this Rift is harder to close than we imagined!"
Sanguinius looked toward the distant Rift.
The edges of that purple wound, which once stretched for several kilometers, were curling inward, and the light trembled violently as it contracted.
"Blood Angels, follow me."
Sanguinius's wings unfurled as he flew toward the Rift.
The Blood Angels Space Marines advanced at full speed on the ground, crossing the Zerg's dense defensive lines.
Gargoyle swarms dove from the sky; millions of winged flying units blotted out the sun, and the green bio-energy from their bio-guns poured down like a rainstorm.
Sanguinius's wings whipped up a golden Psionic Barrier, and the bio-energy splashed ripples across the barrier.
He surged upward into the center of the Gargoyle swarm, his spear tearing through the sky, and wherever he passed, the remains of Gargoyles fell one after another.
With a beat of his wings, Sanguinius broke out of the Gargoyle swarm's encirclement, leaving a zone of death in his wake.
The Zoanthrope cluster's position was directly beneath the Rift.
The Neurothrope was located in the center of the cluster, its massive, everted cranial carapace and ferocious spikes emitting a buzzing resonance amidst the energy pulses.
They sensed Sanguinius's approach, and the psychic shock waves shifted rapidly.
Purple Psionic Lightning exploded in the air, and Sanguinius's wings flipped rapidly to adjust his direction.
The first wave of the shock grazed his left side, and the second wave was intercepted and exploded against his spear.
"Magnus, the Blood Angels are approaching the Zoanthrope cluster. Your psionics can lock onto my coordinates; lead the way with the Thousand Sons' Psionic Lightning, and leave the Zoanthrope cluster to us."
Magnus's voice carried the hoarseness of psionic exhaustion.
"Thousand Sons, aim the Psionic Lightning at the area in front of Sanguinius's flight path, saturation attack."
Red Psionic Lightning pierced through the entire Zoanthrope position, tearing a massive gap in the Zoanthropes' formation.
Sanguinius seized the opportunity to charge into the gap, his spear erupting with blinding golden light, piercing through one Zoanthrope body after another in succession.
The corpses of the Zoanthropes fell from the sky.
The Blood Angels Space Marines were locked in close-quarters combat with the Zerg swarm on the ground, the roar of chainswords and bolters rising and falling in every direction.
The Thousand Sons' Psychic Storm continued to strike for several tens of minutes.
The purple light at the edge of the Rift changed from violent flickering to dim fluctuations.
"Sanguinius, the Rift is shrinking. You and I must cut off the Zerg's energy conduit!"
Sanguinius turned in the air, golden psionic light surging from within him.
Magnus's voice came again.
"The Zerg energy at the core of the Rift is still pouring through; the Rift is shrinking, but the Zerg on the other side are forcibly maintaining it with pulses of bio-energy and minerals. They are trying to hold the edges of the Rift to prevent it from closing."
Sanguinius charged toward the Rift, scorching holy psionics erupting from his spear.
The Zoanthrope swarm's attacks pelted his wings like raindrops, but Sanguinius's speed did not slow.
He approached the Rift step by step, the Zoanthrope swarm's formation beginning to collapse under the impact of his golden psionics.
When he stood directly in front of the Rift, Magnus's red psionics converged with his golden light, both powerful psionic forces pressing toward the center of the Rift simultaneously.
The purple Rift energy trembled violently under the impact of the red and gold dual-colored psionics.
The red-gold Psychic Storm engulfed the Rift. The purple light struggled and twitched within it.
The bio-energy poured in by the Zerg was completely blocked. The edges of the Rift began to collapse inward irreversibly, shrinking by a circle every second compared to the last.
It was contracting, twisting, and tearing.
Corax's communication came through.
"The Raven Guard's Anchor Points have all been destroyed. The ninth, twelfth, fifteenth, and twenty-first Anchor Points have been blown up; the bugs have lost most of their energy nodes, and the Rift's closing speed will be faster."
Magnus's hoarse voice sounded in the communication device.
"Anchor Points destroyed, the Rift is shrinking again. But the Zerg command units are moving toward the Rift, and the Hive Mind's synapse connections are being reconfigured."
The purple Rift trembled violently under the impact of the red and gold dual-colored psionics, the speed at which its edges curled inward accelerating, but the bio-energy the Zerg poured from the other side of the Rift still resisted stubbornly.
Veins bulged on Magnus's forehead as he gritted his teeth, pressing the final surge of psionics toward the Rift's core.
Corax's voice came from the communication device.
"Magnus, the Raven Guard have cleared all the Anchor Points. The Rift's closing speed is accelerating, but your psionic suppression seems to have encountered resistance. I can feel the Zerg energy on the other side of the Rift strengthening; they are concentrating their power to oppose you."
Magnus said hoarsely.
"Corax, come and help as well; the three of us working together should be able to close the Rift!"
"I am coming."
Corax unfurled his form, his black Power Armor passing over the Zerg swarm like a shadow.
His speed was extremely fast, avoiding the Gargoyle swarm's interception, and he appeared at the edge of the Rift a few minutes later.
Corax landed beside Sanguinius.
His black Power Armor was covered in Zerg blood, his eyes fixed tightly on the Rift that was still resisting.
Close your eyes.
His psionics extended into the depths of the Rift like an invisible net.
Darkness.
He sensed boundless darkness.
The Zerg's bio-energy on the other side of the Rift was like a boiling ocean, with countless energy nodes flickering within it.
"Found it, there is a massive Bio-ship on the other side of the Rift maintaining the energy infusion."
Magnus said.
"Corax, focus your Psionic Attack on that node. You only need to disrupt its energy output and slow down its infusion speed."
Corax nodded.
Black psionic energy surged from within him.
His psionic energy pierced deep into the rift like a Sharp Blade, precisely striking that biological energy node.
The Zerg's energy feedback weakened in an instant, becoming chaotic and disordered.
The energy node struck by Corax exploded.
The biological energy the Zerg were infusing into the rift began to leak out in large quantities, the edges of the rift fluctuated violently, and the speed at which it curled inward suddenly accelerated.
Sanguinius felt the change.
"The resistance has lessened, the energy from the other side of the rift is decaying; something is attacking the Zerg on the other side of the rift!"
Magnus's psionic perception also captured the same signal.
Within the boiling energy turbulence on the other side of the rift, a force not belonging to the Zerg was stirring the Zerg's energy channel.
That force was violent, chaotic, and filled with the desire for destruction.
It was Harvest-ing the Zerg's energy nodes, tearing apart the Zerg's biomass flesh, and ripping open wounds in the Hive Mind's defensive line.
"Regardless of what that is, this is a good opportunity. Magnus, Sanguinius, take it now."
Corax's voice echoed in the Communication Device.
The three of them did not hesitate.
Three forces converged in the air, gathering into an unprecedented torrent of psionic energy, and slammed into the core of the rift.
