Chapter 1420: Curze, You've Come at Just the Right Time

~7 min read 1,256 words

Yingzhou was just about to say something when the door was lightly knocked upon.

"Come in."

The door pushed open, and Curze walked in.

He was wearing a black turtleneck sweater and black trousers, holding a thick book in his hand.

He walked to the desk and bowed slightly.

"Father."

Yingzhou looked at him.

"Curze, you've come at just the right time... *cough*, is something the matter?"

"Yes, Father. I am reviewing the feedback on the Civil Law Revision Draft. There are some suggested amendments to the clauses that I am not sure are reasonable, and I would like to ask for your guidance."

"Some clauses only reveal their flaws after they are implemented; there is no need to worry about them."

Curze lowered his head to make a note in his book.

Yingzhou looked at Curze, then at the pile of documents on the desk, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.

"Curze, have you been helping me look at the feedback recently?"

Curze raised his head.

"Yes. Guilliman said these opinions need to be screened first to remove duplicates and invalid ones. Every day, I filter out over three hundred that require your confirmation."

Yingzhou said.

"You read very quickly."

Curze said.

"Because I have read many law books before, I am quite familiar with the articles. Besides, Selina helped me categorize them; I am just comparing them clause by clause."

"Curze, besides law, do you read anything else?"

Curze thought for a moment.

"Occasionally, I read some history books. Father, why do you ask?"

Yingzhou stood up, walked in front of Curze, patted his shoulder, and said with a serious expression.

"Curze, you have been a great help to me. Since you have already read through the feedback on the Civil Law Revision Draft, continue doing so. Take these clauses that need confirmation, provide your own suggested amendments based on your understanding, and once written, hand them directly to Guilliman."

Curze was stunned.

"Father, I am not yet very knowledgeable. And these are for final confirmation..."

Yingzhou waved his hand.

"Eh, too small, your perspective is too small. A consultant is not judged by age, but by ability. You have read many law books, understand the shortcomings of current laws, and can propose concrete suggestions for improvement."

"Guilliman cannot handle it all alone; I need a helper. Besides, aren't you already helping me screen them? Just keep going, it's only one extra step... write down the suggested amendments."

Curze's ears turned slightly red.

"But, these documents... there are so many..."

Yingzhou walked back to the desk and divided the stack of documents on it into two piles.

One pile was for military, diplomatic, and intelligence matters; the other was for civil, legal, and administrative matters.

He moved the civil, legal, and administrative pile in front of Curze, stacking it higher than Curze himself.

"These are now in your hands."

Yingzhou said.

Curze's eyes widened.

"Father, these... are taller than me..."

Yingzhou said solemnly.

"Learn more, study more. Don't you like law very much? This is the best learning opportunity. Once you've finished reading, if there is anything you don't understand, come ask me... er, it is best to ask Guilliman. Once the suggested amendments are written, place them directly on my desk."

Curze opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but looking at his father's expectant gaze, he ultimately closed his mouth.

He lowered his head, looked at the pile of documents taller than himself, and remained in Silence for a moment.

"Father, I cannot finish reading these all at once."

Yingzhou said.

"Read as much as you can, there is no rush. This is long-term work. If you read a little every day, you will eventually finish."

Curze raised his head.

"Long-term?"

Yingzhou nodded. "Er... *cough, cough*, yes, it is long-term. After all, the Civil Law Revision is not a matter of a day or two."

"Then... then I will move them back to read."

Yingzhou said.

"Good, do you need help moving them?"

Curze shook his head.

"No need, I... I can do it."

He bent down and used both arms to embrace the stack of documents.

Curze held the documents, turned sideways to push the door open, and walked out of the study.

In the corridor, Curze held the stack of documents and walked step by step.

The documents were too high, so he could not see the path ahead and could only walk forward by memory.

At a corner, the documents swayed, and he quickly steadied them.

Luojia walked over from the other end of the corridor, holding a speech draft in his hand.

He saw Curze, was stunned for a moment, and then the corners of his mouth lifted.

He walked over quickly and asked.

"Curze, what is this..."

Curze poked his head out from behind a pile of documents.

"Luojia?"

Luojia looked at the stack of documents in his arms, then looked toward the direction of the study, and helplessly covered his forehead.

"I knew it, Father dumped all the documents on you?"

Curze nodded.

"Father said, let me understand more, learn more."

Luojia sighed.

"You helped him review the feedback, and instead he pushed more work onto you; Father is really something."

Curze said.

"Father said this is long-term work, no rush."

Luojia shook his head.

"Long-term work? Right, it is long-term; you will have to approve documents every day from now on."

Curze was stunned, his eyes widening.

"Every day?"

Luojia said.

"Right, Father is just like that; at first he says 'read as much as you can', then 'read a little every day', and finally 'these are needed by tomorrow'; you need to be prepared."

Curze fell into Silence.

Luojia reached out and asked.

"I'll help you carry some."

Curze shook his head.

"No need, I can carry them myself."

Luojia said.

"You can't even see the road, how will you carry them? Let's do this, give me half."

Curze thought for a moment and handed the top half to Luojia.

Luojia took them and stacked them in his own arms.

The two walked side by side toward Curze's room.

"Luojia, did you go to Father's study just now?"

Curze asked.

Luojia said.

"Yes, to report the handling plans for those three factions to Father."

Curze asked.

"What did Father say?"

Luojia said.

"Orbital bombardment, wipe their Capital Star off the star map."

Curze did not speak again, and the two walked to the door of Curze's room.

Curze pushed the door open and walked in; Luojia followed him in and placed the documents on the desk.

Luojia placed the documents on the table, looking at the stack of documents that was taller than Curze.

"Read them slowly; once you're finished, if there is anything you don't understand, you can ask me."

Curze nodded.

"Thank you."

"Father isn't intentionally exploiting you; he is truly busy. We are all very busy, and you are a Primarch; sooner or later you will have to share these matters. Starting now is fine too."

Curze nodded.

"I know."

After Luojia left, Curze sat before the desk, looked at the stack of documents, picked up the one on top, and opened it.

It was the approval opinion for the reconstruction plan of Wala Star; he read a few lines, picked up a pen, and wrote his comments in the blank space.

He liked law, he liked rules, he liked order.

Although these documents were numerous, every single word helped him understand the way the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance operated.
