Chapter 1460: Turmoil in the Luoke Imperial City (2)
Luoke Imperium Imperial City, midnight, corridor outside the east side hall.
Ke Ya and two officials walked quickly against the wall; the sound of Patrol Squad footsteps and shouting came from afar, so they stopped, held their breath, and waited for the people to move away before continuing forward.
At the end of the corridor was a half-open door, with a faint light shining through the crack.
Ke Ya pushed the door open and slipped inside.
Standing in the room were several Luoke people wearing Imperial City Guard uniforms, and the leader was none other than Jin Shike, a core figure of the Kesi faction within the Imperial City Guard.
"Captain Jin Shike."
Ke Ya stepped forward quickly and spoke.
"We have finally found you; His Majesty's men are arresting us everywhere. Chanei and Feng Kasi have already been taken away, and many other officials are missing. We must find a way to contact the garrison outside the city and have them enter the city under the pretext of suppressing a Riot."
Jin Shike turned around and looked at Ke Ya.
"Can you still contact the garrison?"
Ke Ya shook his head and said.
"Communications have been cut off; the Imperial City's communication system is controlled by Kedixi's men, and we cannot contact the outside directly. But if someone can create a big enough commotion inside the Imperial City to attract their attention, we will have a chance to send a message from the backup channel."
Jin Shike remained in Silence for a moment, looking at the defense map on the wall, his gaze sweeping over the marks indicating troop deployments.
"The brothers I can trust in the Imperial City number about two hundred, and there are more brothers who stand with His Highness Kesi scattered in other areas, but I don't know exactly who they are, and they don't know me. If we start a fight, perhaps we can attract them over."
Ke Ya's expression changed.
"Two hundred people? The entire Imperial City Guard has tens of thousands of people; you are going to fight tens of thousands with two hundred?"
Jin Shike looked at him.
"If I don't fight, your message won't get out; if the message doesn't get out, the garrison outside the city won't enter; if the garrison doesn't enter, His Highness Kesi will be isolated and helpless. His Highness will surely die, and none of us will survive either. Do you have any other way?"
Ke Ya was silent.
He truly had no other way.
Jin Shike turned around to face the dozens of trusted followers standing in the room.
"Brothers, you all know that this is a time of life and death. His Highness Kesi is trapped in the bedchamber, and His Majesty wants him dead. If we do nothing, we will certainly all be purged in the end."
A soldier asked.
"Captain, we only have two hundred people; how do we fight?"
"If we fight, we might die; if we don't fight, we will definitely die. Moreover, as long as we make a commotion, we can attract more brothers loyal to His Highness to join us. As long as we can hold out until the garrison enters the city, we win."
He looked around at everyone, his eyes lingering on each person's face for a moment.
"Those willing to follow me, stand to the right. Those who are not, leave through the back door; I won't blame you."
In less than a minute, everyone was on the right; not a single person walked to the left.
Jin Shike let go of the hand he had prepared to draw his gun and nodded, saying.
"Good, we must buy time for His Highness now. Brothers, follow me!"
He drew an energy sword, the blade glowing blue in the dim light, and was the first to rush out of the room, running toward the depths of the corridor.
The soldiers behind him followed closely, shouting as they ran.
"Rescue His Highness Kesi! Rescue His Highness Kesi! Brothers of the Imperial City Guard! Follow us!"
Jin Shike led more than two hundred people through the east corridor and ran head-on into a Patrol Squad of about thirty men.
Before the other side could react, Jin Shike's energy sword had already fallen.
The soldiers behind him followed closely, short blades and Energy Guns drawn.
The thirty-man Patrol Squad was wiped out in under a minute.
Jin Shike stepped over the corpses on the ground and pushed deeper.
"Rescue His Highness Kesi! Brothers of the Imperial City Guard, follow us!"
The shouting echoed through the corridors of the Imperial City.
Another arrest squad was alerted; they rushed out from a corner and met Jin Shike's men head-on.
This time, the enemy had over a hundred men, better equipment, and heavier firepower.
Energy Beams crisscrossed in the corridor.
A soldier was hit in the shoulder and fell to the ground; another soldier rushed over to help him but was pierced through the chest by an Energy Beam, and both fell together.
Jin Shike's blade slashed across an enemy's throat, he turned to block another's Energy Gun, and with a backhand strike, he stabbed into the opponent's abdomen.
His men were decreasing rapidly, but he did not stop his pace.
"Rescue His Highness Kesi! Brothers of the Imperial City Guard! Follow us!"
A squad of soldiers on the north side heard the shouting and looked at each other.
The leading Sergeant heard those voices, clenched his fists, and after hesitating for a few seconds, said.
"Go! Join up with Captain Jin Shike!"
Another squad made the same choice; after hearing the shouts, they left their posts one after another and ran along the corridor to join Jin Shike's team.
Jin Shike's team was being depleted, but at the same time, soldiers were constantly joining in; they were all doing the same thing.
"Rescue His Highness Kesi!"
In the Imperial City's Central Plaza, Jin Shike's team was finally intercepted.
Kechasaili personally commanded more than two thousand Imperial City Guards, forming a formation in the plaza, their Energy Guns aimed squarely at them.
Jin Shike stopped; only about three hundred people remained behind him.
Kechasaili stood at the front of the formation, looking at him.
"Jin Shike, you're crazy. You want to rebel with just a few hundred people?"
Jin Shike laughed.
"Rebel? We are here to save His Highness; you are the ones rebelling."
Kechasaili did not say much and gave the order directly.
"Take them down."
The Imperial City guard line began to advance forward.
The beams of the Energy Guns lit up continuously, and Jin Shike's team fell one after another.
Jin Shike's left arm was grazed by shrapnel, and blood dripped down along his cuff.
His right leg was hit by a stray bullet, causing him to limp, but he did not stop and was still charging forward.
Kechasaili stood in the rear, watching him with an expressionless face.
"Jin Shike, you have lost. Surrender, and perhaps you can still keep your life."
Jin Shike did not answer.
He raised his head, looked at Kechasaili, and curled his lips, revealing blood-stained teeth.
"I haven't lost... His Highness... will not lose..."
He raised his energy sword and charged again.
Kechasaili sighed.
"Stubborn."
He raised his Energy Gun and pulled the trigger.
An Energy Beam pierced through Jin Shike's chest.
Jin Shike was killed in action, and his team was completely routed.
Of the more than three hundred people, no one surrendered.
Before they fell, they were still shouting that slogan.
"Rescue His Highness Kesi..."
In the Interrogation Room, blood flowed from Chanei's mouth, and upon hearing that shout, the corners of his mouth turned up.
"His Highness... will win."
Imperial City, the sleeping quarters of Keluoke Ershisi Shi.
Kesi sat on a chair in the sleeping quarters, hearing the sounds of killing in the distance gradually subside.
His pawns were dying, in order for him to win the final victory.
For these Alien to offer their lives for the Emperor's great cause at the end of their lives, it could be considered not a waste.
On the east side of the Imperial City, Ke Ya rushed to the temporarily repaired backup Communication Device and pressed the communication button.
"This is inside the Imperial City; His Highness Kesi is trapped, and the Imperial City is in chaos. Requesting support; enter the city as soon as possible under the name of quelling the Riot."
A reply came from the Communication Device.
"Received, the garrison is entering the city; please hold on."
Ke Ya released the communication button and then collapsed to the ground; he had no strength left.
