Chapter 1466: Then Let's Bring Yingxin Along Too
Yingxin stood at the doorway holding a tray, her gaze looking expectantly at her four brothers.
Her hair was somewhat disheveled, and there was flour smeared on her face.
The few cookies on the tray were dark and yellowish in color, irregular in shape; some were charred black, while others were not baked through.
The surface of the cookies was uneven, as if the dough had undergone some indescribable chemical reaction during the baking process.
Fulgrim looked at the tray of cookies, the muscles in his face twitching slightly.
He looked toward Alpharius, who was staring at the window.
Omegon stood beside Alpharius, the two of them in almost identical postures.
Curze stood at the very back, his two eyes fixed on the tray of cookies, his lips pressed into a line.
"Why aren't you taking any?"
Yingxin held the tray up, and the charred aroma of the cookies along with some unidentifiable scent drifted through the air.
"I saved them for you for a long time; Brother Leman said they were delicious and didn't stop until he had eaten three."
Fulgrim took a deep breath, his expression like that of a warrior about to head onto the battlefield.
"Fine, I'll have a taste."
He reached out, picked up a cookie, closed his eyes, and took a bite.
That flavor exploded in his mouth; Fulgrim chewed twice, swallowed the cookie, then opened his eyes and squeezed out a smile.
"Delicious."
Curze looked at Fulgrim, his gaze carrying a complex emotion.
"Are you sure?"
Fulgrim said.
"Sure, the flavor has a lot of layers."
Alpharius said.
"What does 'a lot of layers' mean?"
Fulgrim said.
"It means... the top note is charred, the middle note... is mellow, and the base note... has a lingering sweetness."
Alpharius and Omegon exchanged a glance, and then Alpharius also reached out and picked up a cookie.
He took a bite, the expression on his face changing rapidly; he swallowed it and then said.
"It truly has layers."
Omegon also spoke up.
"It really is... quite unique."
Curze looked at them, remained in Silence for a moment, and said with a smile.
"Since you have all tasted them, I won't taste them just yet; I'll take this cookie for now and eat it when I'm hungry."
As soon as Curze said this, he immediately felt three gazes fixed upon him.
Fulgrim revealed an elegant smile and indicated.
"Curze, this is a small token of our little sister's heart; how can you not provide an evaluation?"
Curze said with an awkward expression.
"Of course I know our little sister's heart, I just... wait, what are you doing!"
Seeing that Curze still wanted to decline, the three who had already eaten the cookies used brute force to slowly move Curze's hand holding the cookie toward his mouth.
Curze said with a horrified expression.
"What are you doing? I'll eat it in a while."
Alpharius said with a smile.
"It's fine, one cookie won't take up much room in your stomach."
Omegon took up the thread.
"That's right, we are brothers, of course we have to eat together!"
Finally, through the combined efforts of the three, Curze's resistance collapsed and disintegrated, and the cookie was sent into his mouth.
Looking at Yingxin's expectant eyes, Curze squeezed out a smile and said.
"It's... delicious."
Yingxin's eyes lit up, and she said happily.
"Really? Then you all should eat them all up! I'll go get some more!"
Her voice was light and brisk, her ponytail swinging with the movement of her turning around, the small bell at the tip of the braid jingling.
The sound of Yingxin's footsteps quickly faded away down the hallway.
The Storage Room fell into Silence.
The four people stood where they were, each holding half a cookie in their hands, looking at the doorway and then at each other.
Fulgrim, still holding more than half of the piece in his hand, looked at the others helplessly.
Alpharius said.
"You said it was delicious just now."
Fulgrim said.
"As long as she is happy."
Omegon said.
"You said it had layers just now."
Fulgrim said.
"We have to find some words to praise it."
Curze said.
Alpharius looked at the cookie in his hand.
"For this one, I can manage one more bite, and then I'll be done for."
Omegon said.
"We could hide the rest."
Alpharius said.
"Hide it where? She'll be back in a moment; if she sees the plate is empty, she'll think we've finished it and will go get even more."
Curze said.
"She said there was more."
Silence fell in the Storage Room.
Fulgrim looked at the cookie in his hand.
"We can't let her down, can we?"
The four of them took advantage of Yingxin's departure to quickly leave the storage room; Curze was the last to walk out of the Storage Room, whispering.
"Change to a different place, a place she won't go looking."
The four of them walked quickly along the east corridor.
Fulgrim let out a long breath.
"Next time, change the place."
Alpharius said.
"Change to where?"
Fulgrim thought for a moment.
"The library, she rarely goes to the library."
Omegon said.
"She doesn't go to the reading room either; she said last time that it was too quiet there."
Curze said.
"The underground training ground, she has never been there."
The four of them looked at each other, as if reaching a silent consensus.
Xiuluo Holy Star, Yingzhou's study.
Yingzhou sat before the desk, with the itinerary Selina had just organized spread out in front of him.
The inspection time for the Bone-Crushing Cannery had been confirmed, and the personnel list had been preliminarily drafted.
"Selina, you're saying Fulgrim, Alpharius, Omegon, and Curze are all willing to go?"
Selina's holographic projection appeared in the corner of the room.
"Yes, Your Majesty. All four lords have expressed their willingness to accompany you."
Yingzhou's eyebrows raised slightly.
"Since when have they been so interested in canned food?"
Selina's data stream flickered.
"I cannot determine the true motives of the four lords."
Yingzhou leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping lightly on the desktop.
"It's fine as long as they are willing to go. Since I'm already taking a few Young Primarchs, I might as well bring Yingxin along. The little one has always wanted to go out and see what the planets outside are like. This trip to the Bone Crushing Factory is just the right opportunity. As long as we don't let her see any scenes unsuitable for children, it will be fine."
Selina asked.
"Your Majesty, do you need to notify Lady Yingxin in advance?"
Yingzhou thought for a moment.
"Notify her, let her pack her things in advance."
Selina said.
"Understood, Your Majesty. Are there any other arrangements?"
