Chapter 1471: Passing by Xinkeshen Xing

~7 min read 1,344 words

Outside the factory building, the Orc breeding area.

The fences are built from steel bars and cement, with the interior of the enclosure partitioned into several zones.

Several young Orcs are locked in different compartments; their body sizes are much smaller than adult Orcs, and their Liaya are also short, clearly being cubs.

Two Fengqi are standing by the fence, holding data pads in their hands, writing a few strokes in their notebooks from time to time.

They are the workers responsible for Orc breeding; in the Bone Crushing Factory, this position is more relaxed than that of the workshop workers.

One of the Fengqi is named Parwa, his three eyes looking at the Orcs in the enclosure.

"This batch of cubs is growing quite fast; they were only this big when they first arrived, and now they are almost half a meter tall. At this rate, it will probably take another two and a half months before they are ready for slaughter."

The Fengqi next to him says.

"It's much easier than in the workshop. Over in the workshop, the machine noise is loud and the smell is heavy. Here, with the wind blowing and the sun shining, at least it's not stuffy."

Parwa writes a few words on the data pad and continues.

"Easy is easy, but one must also be careful. Although these Orcs are still small, their strength is already not insignificant."

"When they get a little bigger, they will be separated for rearing. The strong and healthy ones will be kept as breeding stock, and the thin and sick ones will be sent directly to the workshop."

Parwa puts down the data pad.

"I wonder if the Broken Bone Orcs knew they would end up like this, would they regret opposing the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance back then?"

The Fengqi next to him does not answer.

He also looks at the Orcs in the enclosure, and after a moment of Silence, says.

"Who knows? Orcs probably don't think that much; they are just a bunch of savage creatures."

Parwa laughs.

"Then let them be satisfied; anyway, if they are satisfied, we can also have it easier."

He turns around and walks toward the lounge.

"Let's go, it's time to change shifts."

The Mars-class Battlecruiser that Yingzhou is taking sails steadily.

In the observation lounge behind the Bridge, Yingxin lies by the porthole, looking at the starlight twisted into thin lines outside, her eyes sparkling.

"Why are those stars stretching out?"

Fulgrim sits on the seat next to her and explains.

"Because our speed is too fast, and the path of the light has been distorted."

Yingxin tilts her head and thinks for a moment.

"Then if we stop, will the stars return to normal?"

Fulgrim smiles and nods.

"Yes."

Yingxin nods and continues to look out the window.

"Then how long until we can stop?"

Fulgrim says.

"There is still a stretch of the journey; Father intends to look at the planets along the way first."

Yingxin turns her head, her eyes even brighter.

"Uncle is going to take us to see other planets?"

"It should be; Father said we will pass by some planets that have already been liberated, and perhaps we will stop at one of them."

Yingxin jumps down from the porthole, runs to the center of the lounge, and says excitedly.

"That's great! I have never stepped on the ground of a planet other than the Xiuluo Holy Star! That time with the Daikong Star Alliance doesn't count; that was on Alien land!

This time I must take a good look! I want to see how the people on those planets live!"

Leman Russ leans on the sofa in the corner, holding a piece of dried meat in his hand.

"Little sister, those planets might not be quite what you think; many are still under construction."

Yingxin says.

"Then I still want to see them; planets under construction also have the look of being under construction. As for you, Brother Leman, you have been eating the whole time; I haven't seen you stop once."

Alpharius and Omegon sit on the other side, the two exchanging a look.

Omegon says in a low voice.

"She seems to have completely not mentioned the matter of cooking."

Alpharius's voice is even lower.

"Don't remind her; just let her be busy with other things."

Curze sits by the window, not participating in the discussion; before he came out, he brought quite a few legal-related documents and is currently reviewing them.

Yingzhou walks in from the direction of the Bridge, holding a data pad in his hand.

"Everyone, we are about to pass by a planet that has already been liberated, Xinkeshen Xing. I intend to go down and see the situation there."

Yingxin jumps up immediately.

"I'm going too!"

She runs in front of Yingzhou and says pitifully.

"Uncle, take me with you! I promise not to run around!"

The expressions of the five Young Primarchs show a trace of fluctuation at the same time.

Fulgrim speaks first.

"Father, what is the condition of Xinkeshen Xing?"

Yingzhou looks down at the data pad.

"It has already been liberated, and the Human settlements are being rebuilt, though the economic foundation is not yet very stable. The Archon is named Chajiake, who was sent there to direct the reconstruction, and resources of all kinds are arriving one after another."

As he spoke, Yingzhou looked toward Yingxin.

"Are you sure you want to go and see?"

Yingxin nodded vigorously.

"Sure! I can help you see if there is anything there that needs help! Or at least look at the scenery there! And I haven't stayed on a real planet yet."

Yingzhou thought for a moment.

"Fine, then we will go down together. But you must stay close to me and cannot run around."

Yingxin cheered.

"Great! Brother Fulgrim! Brother Curze! Brother Alpha! Brother Omegon! Brother Leman! Are you all going too?"

The five of them had different expressions, but in the end, they nodded one after another.

Fulgrim said.

"We will accompany you down."

Alpharius added.

"We are just staying on the ship anyway."

Omegon said.

"Consider it getting some exercise."

Leman Russ said.

"Let's go, it's good to take a look."

Curze did not speak, but he also stood up, clearly prepared to go along.

Yingxin's smile became even brighter.

"Then I can let Uncle take me to see what a real planet is like!"

Soon, Xinkeshen Xing appeared ahead.

It was a gray-green planet with large plains and low mountain ranges on its surface, and sparse cloud cover.

Yingxin pressed against the porthole, watching the ground below gradually enlarge.

"Are those cities?"

Fulgrim stood beside her.

"Yes, the Human settlements are being rebuilt. You can still see traces of some old buildings."

The ship landed at the Spaceport, the hatch opened, and a dry wind carrying the scent of soil and plants rushed in.

Yingxin was the first to disembark, her feet stepping onto the ground of Xinkeshen Xing.

"It's about the same as Xiuluo Holy Star. It's all dirt and rocks."

Fulgrim walked out.

"Most terrestrial planets have similar surfaces, but the soil color here leans more toward gray-green."

Yingxin raised her hand excitedly and said.

"Let's go, let's go see inside the city!"

The city was not large, with several main roads crisscrossing, flanked by newly built low-rise buildings, their walls still bearing the fresh color of cement.

There were not many pedestrians, mostly workers in work clothes and administrative personnel in uniforms, with the occasional Astra Militarum soldier in military uniform to be seen.

Yingxin walked in the middle of the group, looking around.

"This place looks so orderly!"

Fulgrim explained.

"Most city planning uses a grid layout, which is convenient for construction and transportation."

Yingxin asked again.

"What species are those trees?"

Fulgrim thought for a moment.

"They should be local plants, drought-tolerant and adapted to the climate of Xinkeshen Xing. When Perturabo's Engineering Team plans a city, they usually retain some of the local vegetation."
