Chapter 1472: You Are Not Bad

~7 min read 1,268 words

Xinkeshen Xing, Archon's residence.

Archon Chajiake is sitting at his desk, with a renovation plan for the urban water supply pipe network spread out before him.

At this moment, the Adjutant rushes into the office, his expression very nervous.

Chajiake looks up.

"What is it? You look so flustered. We are public servants now; don't be so rash, it gives people the impression that we are unreliable."

The Adjutant says while panting heavily.

"Archon, news has come from the Spaceport... a Mars-class Battlecruiser has landed."

Chajiake's pen pauses.

"Mars-class? Has the identity been confirmed?"

"Confirmed, it is the Emperor's ship. The Emperor himself has disembarked and is currently on the streets of the East District."

Chajiake stands up abruptly.

"Why didn't you say so sooner?"

He quickly walks around the desk and picks up the coat hanging on the back of his chair.

"Send people to prepare the reception vehicles, notify all departments, cancel all non-emergency meetings, and free up personnel."

As he says this, he has already reached the door, then stops and turns his head to look at the Adjutant.

"Who is with the Emperor?"

The Adjutant says.

"Five Young Primarchs, and Lady Yingxin."

Chajiake's brow furrows slightly.

"Lady Yingxin is here too?"

He has no time to think it over, walks quickly toward the elevator, and presses the button for the first floor.

The elevator door closes.

On the street, Yingzhou is standing at a street corner, talking to a worker.

The worker is wearing a set of work clothes covered in dust and holding a shovel in his hand, appearing to be trimming the roadside green belt.

He is stunned when he sees Yingzhou, and then almost loses his grip on the shovel in his hand.

Yingzhou says in a casual tone.

"Is this road newly built?"

The worker nods, his voice a bit tight.

"Yes... it was just paved last month. The Engineering Team of Lord Perturabo provided the basic plan, and we local workers were responsible for the construction."

Yingzhou glances at the road surface under his feet.

"Where did the materials come from?"

The worker says.

"They were mined locally, mixed and poured with reinforcement materials shipped from Xiuluo Holy Star. The quarry over there only started operating last year, and production only met the target last month."

Yingzhou nods.

"How long do you work every day?"

The worker says.

"Standard working hours are eight hours, occasionally extended to ten hours to rush the work. There is overtime pay, and the food is also quite good."

Yingzhou asks again.

"How are your family members doing?"

The worker's expression softens a little.

"Not bad, much better than before being enslaved by the Alien."

At this time, Chajiake rushes over quickly from a street corner not far away, followed by two administrative staff and a guard.

He sees Yingzhou standing on the side of the road talking to that worker, speeds up his pace, but slows down when he gets close, hesitating whether he should interrupt their conversation.

Yingzhou continues to say a few words to the worker, pats the worker on the shoulder, and then turns to Chajiake.

"Archon Chajiake?"

Chajiake steps forward, bows slightly, and says somewhat nervously.

"Your Majesty, I did not know you would come to Xinkeshen Xing, and I am not prepared for the welcome. If I had known earlier, I would have arranged an honor guard and formal reception procedures..."

Yingzhou waves his hand.

"No need, I just came to see how our compatriots are living after this planet was liberated."

Yingzhou's gaze sweeps over the streets, buildings, and the construction site in the distance.

"It looks like you have done a good job."

"Your Majesty is too kind; there are still many areas that need improvement."

Yingzhou says.

"Hmm, that's normal. Now, take me to see your daily work."

Chajiake nods.

"Yes, Your Majesty, please follow me."

He turns to the side to make a gesture of invitation, leading Yingzhou toward the airship parked on the side of the road, while simultaneously whispering a few arrangements to the administrative staff beside him.

Yingzhou sits in a window seat on the airship, Yingxin sits next to him, and the five Young Primarchs sit in the two rows of seats behind them.

After the airship takes off, it passes through the urban area and flies toward the administrative center.

Outside the window, the silhouette of the city unfolds in his field of vision.

On the gray-green plain, the building complex had wide, straight streets with green belts interspersed between them, planned in an orderly and organized fashion.

Yingzhou watched for a while, then asked Chajiake.

"How long have you been serving here?"

Chajiake sat opposite, posture upright, leaning slightly forward.

"Nearly a year, Your Majesty. When the Star Alliance arranged for me to come here, Xinkeshen Xing was still in a stage of temporary military control. The first three months were mainly spent clearing ruins, and only in the following months did it gradually transition to the civilian administration stage."

Yingzhou asked again.

"What is the most difficult part?"

Chajiake thought for a moment.

"It is the allocation of supplies. This planet's production base was not very well-developed to begin with, and before liberation, it was repeatedly exploited by the Alien; the equipment left behind is not only old, but much of it is damaged and cannot be put into use directly.

During that initial period, I spent almost every day checking supply manifests with transport ships. Sometimes a batch of building materials would arrive, but the matching parts wouldn't, and the construction progress would have to stop.

There is also the issue of insufficient manpower; skilled workers are scarce, and much of the work can only be done by the existing personnel working overtime."

Yingzhou said.

"Has the situation improved now?"

"It is much better now. Xiuluo Holy Star has resumed stable, regular transport, and the training of the Engineering Team has kept up, so at least there won't be a situation where work stops completely due to a lack of parts. But there is still a long way to go before true self-sufficiency."

The airship landed at the administrative center.

The administrative center's building was not tall, with gray-white outer walls and a square, boxy silhouette; it had no superfluous decorations, the only decoration being the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance flag on the flagpole.

Chajiake walked in front, leading Yingzhou and the accompanying personnel into the building.

Chajiake pushed open a door to a medium-sized office; it was not large, but the lighting was sufficient.

Yingzhou looked around the office and walked to the window; outside the window, one could see the area behind the administrative center, which looked like auxiliary facilities such as staff dormitories and a cafeteria.

"Do you live here?"

Chajiake said.

"I live here most of the time. It takes a lot of time to go back and forth to my residence, so for convenience, I sometimes make do for the night in the office."

Yingzhou did not respond.

He walked to the desk, picked up a few documents to look at, and then said to Chajiake.

"You are not bad."

Chajiake was stunned, his gaze lingering on Yingzhou's face for a moment before he quickly lowered his head.

"Your Majesty is too kind."

Yingzhou said.

"An Archon who can sleep in his office at least shows that he has not forgotten his mission. Continue to work hard and do not let down my expectations."

Chajiake said excitedly.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I will do my utmost for the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance."
