Chapter 26: Rescue

Yingzhou was originally in his room Gathering Spiritual Power when he suddenly sensed a faint sound of footsteps coming from outside the dormitory building; if one did not listen carefully, that sound would be impossible to detect.

"Strange, how did this sound get onto the wall?" A trace of doubt arose in Yingzhou's heart. He rose and walked to the window, hearing a brief cry for help from a room, but that cry for help ceased abruptly in an instant.

Yingzhou felt a sense of foreboding in his heart. He put on his shoes, walked out of the room, and headed quickly toward the outside of the dormitory building.

Just at this moment, a hurried alarm sounded throughout the entire school. Yingzhou arrived at a shadow outside the dormitory building and saw a humanoid Zerg carrying a female student out; its scarlet eyes were exceptionally conspicuous in the darkness.

Yingzhou quickly summoned 10 Krieg soldiers, ordered them to find cover in the surroundings, and waited for an opportunity himself, preparing to rescue that student.

As that humanoid Zerg jumped down from the dormitory building and its scale-covered feet stepped onto the ground, Yingzhou launched a swift attack, catching the Zerg off guard.

After putting some distance between himself and Yingzhou, the humanoid Zerg placed the female student to the side and looked at Yingzhou with a sinister grin.

Only then did Yingzhou recognize from those contours that the humanoid Zerg before him was none other than Helao Da!

Helao Da also recognized Yingzhou and grinned, "It's you! Yingzhou!"

Yingzhou was shocked; he had not expected Helao Da to turn into this appearance. When was he infected by the Zerg?

Looking at Helao Da's current appearance, a flash of vigilance crossed Yingzhou's eyes.

"Helao Da? Why are you here?" Yingzhou asked loudly, attempting to distract Helao Da.

Helao Da grinned and did not answer Yingzhou's question, instead launching an attack directly at Yingzhou. His fist carried immense power, striking straight toward Yingzhou's chest.

Yingzhou reacted quickly, dodging Helao Da's attack sideways while throwing a punch that hit Helao Da's shoulder. Helao Da felt the pain and retreated a few steps.

"Do you think you can win against me like this?" Helao Da roared, launching an attack at Yingzhou once more.

Yingzhou did not give Helao Da the chance. Seeing that Helao Da no longer had a hostage in his hands, he quickly increased the distance between them and shouted loudly, "Fire!"

"Swish, swish, swish!"

Bolts of laser fire shot toward Helao Da. Although Helao Da had dodged the moment he discovered the anomaly, several laser bolts still struck his body.

After being hit by the laser bolts, Helao Da's body shuddered violently. He felt that if those bullets had hit his head, he would undoubtedly have died.

Now he could only retreat and come back to take Tan Xiaotong away later.

Thinking of this, Helao Da turned and retreated, quickly disappearing into the darkness.

Yingzhou ordered the ten Krieg soldiers to pursue Helao Da, while he himself came before the student. It was indeed Tan Xiaotong; he had not expected that even after turning into a Zerg, Helao Da would still be obsessed with Tan Xiaotong, which showed her status in his heart.

A thought stirred in Yingzhou: so the strange emotion that flashed in Helao Da's eyes at noon today was not an illusion; he had already become a Puppet of the Zerg at that time.

Other students in the dormitory building were also awakened by the alarm and the sounds of the recent battle, and they ran out to check the situation.

As soon as everyone came out, they saw Yingzhou standing motionless in front of the disheveled Tan Xiaotong. Bai Tao squeezed out of the crowd at this moment, came to Yingzhou's side, and asked, "Yingzhou, what is going on here? Was Tan Xiaotong... by you..."

Yingzhou summoned 10 Krieg soldiers again to surround him, following the footprints left by the previous Krieg soldiers in the dark until he arrived in front of a dormitory building. Here, Yingzhou saw the ten Krieg soldiers he had sent to pursue Helao Da firing into the dormitory building.

From the outside, one could already see that the floor, walls, and ceiling of the first floor of the dormitory were covered in flesh, and from those pieces of flesh, sizable Zerg were constantly squirming out.

"Whether there are survivors can only be known after going in. If you don't go in, how can you know there are no survivors inside!" Yingzhou did not retreat in the slightest and retorted directly.

Yingzhou's words left that teacher speechless. He knew Yingzhou was right, but he was still unwilling to take the risk.

"Yingzhou, I know you are doing this to save people, but we cannot let more people fall into danger because of a moment of impulse," Instructor Long Yang tried to persuade Yingzhou.

Yingzhou looked at Instructor Long Yang, then at Principal Ma Fengtian. He knew they were all thinking of the school's interests, but he could not abandon those who might still be alive.

"Principal, I request that you give me a chance and let me take my soldiers in to take a look. If there are truly no survivors inside, I will have no objections," Yingzhou said sincerely.

Principal Ma Fengtian was silent for a moment, then finally nodded, "Fine, I will give you this chance."

"Principal! This is likely inappropriate..." The teacher wanted to say something more, but was interrupted by Ma Fengtian.

"Since our student wants to try, we as teachers must help him cover the base. All teachers, surround the entire dormitory building; do not let the Zerg Nest continue to expand outward. Once Yingzhou rescues the people, we will clear this place immediately!"

Ma Fengtian's tone was serious and earnest. All the teachers were startled, and they left one after another to surround the entire dormitory building.
