Chapter 27: Survivors

~7 min read 1,282 words

After obtaining Ma Fengtian's consent, Yingzhou walked quickly to the front of the dormitory building and summoned 30 more Krieg soldiers, bringing the total to 50 Krieg soldiers including the 20 at the main entrance.

"We are pushing inside!"

After Yingzhou issued the order, the Krieg soldiers moved in perfect unison, acting in a precise and orderly manner. Some soldiers quickly attached their bayonets to their laser carbines, displaying well-trained military skills; others spread out rapidly, forming a tight defensive perimeter with Yingzhou at the center.

As the Krieg soldiers began to push toward the first-floor stairwell, a tense atmosphere permeated the air. Their steps were steady, their gazes firm, and they gripped their weapons tightly, prepared to deal with any enemy that might appear.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Laser rounds whistled through the air, cutting through it with sharp sounds. These laser rounds struck the bugs with unerring accuracy, instantly blasting them into minced meat. At the same time, the sounds of hand grenades exploding followed one after another, deafening to the ear. These explosions not only destroyed the surrounding environment but also dealt a fatal blow to the enemies.

Bugs that had just crawled out of the flesh masses were blasted apart by the precise fire of the Krieg soldiers before they could even react. Their bodies burst in mid-air, flesh and blood flying everywhere and scattering onto the ground. The marksmanship of the Krieg soldiers was incredibly precise; every bullet hit a vital spot, giving the enemy not a moment to catch their breath.

Outside the dormitory, Ma Fengtian watched as the 50 soldiers summoned by Yingzhou entered the building. His eyes were filled with curiosity and anticipation. The combat proficiency and equipment of these soldiers were undoubtedly top-tier, making him marvel at their performance. He turned his head to look at Long Yang beside him, a glimmer of interest flashing in his eyes.

"How many soldiers do you think he can actually summon?" Ma Fengtian asked curiously. He had developed a keen interest in Yingzhou's abilities and wanted to know just how much potential this young Psionic possessed.

Then, he mentioned the report he had seen that evening, saying: "I just saw the report you submitted, saying he has already promoted to a Diji Lingnengzhe?" His tone revealed a hint of surprise and excitement, as if he were taken aback by the speed of Yingzhou's growth.

"Yes, he tried drawing spirit talismans before and almost went Out of Control, but he managed to bring it under control in time. Afterward, I shared some of my experience with drawing spirit talismans with him; I didn't expect him to successfully promote to a Diji Lingnengzhe the first time he drew one today."

A smile appeared on Long Yang's face, and he then added, "As for how many soldiers he can summon, I'm not sure about that either; only he himself would know."

Ma Fengtian nodded, his gaze fixed on the dormitory building from which the sounds of explosions came from time to time, "I hope he can survive after arriving at the Military District."

Inside the dormitory building, Yingzhou stood behind the soldiers, calmly observing the situation on the battlefield. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk's, seeing the enemies hidden in the shadows through the smoke of gunpowder. He took a deep breath, preparing to join the battle at any moment.

Suddenly, a student who had been controlled by the Zerg and turned into a Puppet crawled out from a mass of flesh. Its body was massive and covered in hard scales, looking exceptionally ferocious. It opened its blood-red maw, let out a deafening roar, and lunged at the Krieg soldiers.

Seeing this, Yingzhou immediately directed several Krieg soldiers nearby, having them form a squad specifically to deal with this humanoid Zerg.

The battle was exceptionally intense, with the firepower of the Krieg soldiers constantly suppressing the enemy.

Just as the Krieg soldiers gunned down the humanoid Zerg, the humanoid Zerg's body began to swell rapidly, finally exploding along with green fluid.

The two Krieg soldiers who were close to it were engulfed by the green fluid and turned into two pools of blood in an instant.

"Damn, these Zerg can self-destruct even after they're dead? I'll have to be careful later."

After seeing this scene, Yingzhou felt somewhat fortunate about his decision to stay in the rear; if he had been fighting on the front lines, he might have tripped up because of this bizarre ability.

Yingzhou's heart was filled with vigilance and worry. He knew that this bizarre ability meant the Zerg might have more unknown secrets and traps waiting for them to deal with.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil in his heart. He knew that as a Psionic, he had to face all challenges and dangers calmly.

"Attention everyone, continue the advance!" Yingzhou shouted loudly, his voice echoing across the battlefield.

Under Yingzhou's command, the Krieg soldiers began to continue their advance. They carefully bypassed the areas corroded by the green fluid to avoid getting the corrosive liquid on themselves.

Arriving at the stairwell blocked by the mass of flesh, Yingzhou arranged for two Krieg soldiers to carry out a demolition.

"Boom!"

Accompanied by an explosion and the splashing of flesh debris, an opening was blown into the stairwell entrance.

After Yingzhou reached the second floor, he summoned another 30 Krieg soldiers, "You all clear the Zerg on this floor and look for survivors."

These 30 Krieg soldiers saluted Yingzhou and then walked into the second floor of the dormitory building.

Yingzhou adopted the same method for the third floor of the dormitory, while he himself headed straight for the fourth floor, which was the top floor.

As the Krieg soldiers scouting ahead just entered the top floor of the dormitory, several bone spurs pierced the skull of one Krieg soldier. Another Krieg soldier quickly rolled, hid behind a cabinet, pulled out a hand grenade from his waist, and threw it in the direction from which the bone spurs were fired.

"Boom!"

After the explosion, this Krieg soldier poked his head out slightly, found nothing unusual, and began to advance cautiously.

Yingzhou also arranged for 5 more Krieg soldiers to go in and assist. Only after the Krieg soldiers who had entered signaled that everything was safe did Yingzhou begin to walk inside. Seeing that the one who had just fired the bone spurs was also a student infected by the Zerg, Yingzhou's heart couldn't help but sink a little.

It seems that these Zerg controlling the students this time are likely the same type as the ones in Xitai District last time, only this time they should have had enough time to adapt to the bodies, which is what made these students somewhat tricky.

Just at this moment, a raging fire suddenly erupted in a dormitory room in the distance, and a humanoid Zerg was knocked out as a result.

"Damn, where did these Zerg pop out from!" A rough voice came from that dormitory room.

Upon seeing that there were still survivors resisting, Yingzhou felt a surge of joy in his heart and immediately arranged for the Krieg soldiers to begin advancing rapidly.

"Hey, survivors over there! How many people in your dormitory have not been infected by the Zerg!"

Yingzhou shouted loudly at the place where the fire had just erupted.

"Huh! There are survivors! Brother! No one in our dormitory has been infected! All four of us are fine, what about you? Has anyone in your dormitory been infected!"

After hearing Yingzhou's voice over there, the tone was clearly filled with a hint of surprise and excitement.
