Chapter 299: Become My Test Subjects
Pake sneered with disdain after seeing those Kasrkin soldiers install a seemingly unremarkable bomb onto their guns.
"That gate is inscribed with Spirit Patterns; how could it possibly be blown open so easily?"
But the next second, Pake's smile stiffened. After an explosion, the gate had a hole blown—no, to be precise, burned—into it, just barely large enough for a Kasrkin soldier to exit.
"High heat melted the gate? This weapon is also quite interesting. I wonder if they have any more."
After seeing the sorry state of the gate, Kesumo also developed some interest in that seemingly unremarkable bomb.
This squad had given him too many surprises: first the weapon with astonishing power, then the body-modified soldiers, and finally the bomb that could burn through the Testing Ground gate. What other weapons did these soldiers have that they hadn't brought out yet?
The first Kasrkin soldier to walk out of the passage was immediately grabbed by a flesh-amalgamation about 2.6 meters tall. Although the Hellgun in their hand fired at the Alien in front, the Alien flung the Kasrkin soldier away.
This Kasrkin soldier slammed hard against the wall and was then pinned by another Alien that looked like a cow.
The powerful force caused the Hellgun in the Kasrkin soldier's hand to break free and fall to the ground.
Seeing that the Alien had closed in on them, the Kasrkin soldier didn't bother to pick up the dropped Hellgun; they grabbed the bifurcated horns of the bovine creature with both hands, took two steps back, and firmly held the Alien at bay.
"For the Emperor!"
With a roar, the Kasrkin soldier lifted the Alien up and slammed it heavily onto the ground with a suplex.
The flesh on the Alien's body tried to envelop the Kasrkin soldier, but the soldier dodged the attack, grabbed the Hellgun they had pulled back, and fired at the Alien before them.
"Die! Alien!"
Only when the flesh on the Alien's body was smoking did the Kasrkin soldier stop firing, preparing to return to support their teammates.
The second Kasrkin Sergeant to emerge grew vigilant after seeing the situation of the first Kasrkin soldier. After crawling out of the passage, the Kasrkin Sergeant immediately looked to the right.
They saw an Alien with several human faces churning within a mass of flesh-amalgamation. The moment it saw the Kasrkin Sergeant, it prepared to swat them away again.
The Kasrkin Sergeant activated the Chainsword in their hand and severed the flesh-mass the Alien was using to attack with one strike, but the flesh kept trying to reorganize until it was finished off by the third Kasrkin soldier from the exit position.
Soon, all five Kasrkin had left the passage, but the number of test subjects coming for them had also increased significantly, and most were test subjects that looked like ghosts, falling under the fire of the Hellguns.
The Aliens blocking the front of the Kasrkin squad fell in droves like wheat during a harvest, and the Kasrkin Sergeant immediately gave an order.
"Quick! We must hurry and find that Heretic Pake!"
"Yes!"
On the other side, seeing this situation, Pake's originally calm heart became somewhat agitated. Seeing that the Kasrkin squad seemed to be searching for them, Pake immediately said to Kesumo beside them.
"Time is running out. Prepare for the transplant surgery; we cannot wait any longer. If we are exposed this time, the Ninth Defense Zone will absolutely not allocate resources to you again. You handle the risks; I don't want to die so early."
Seeing Pake speak this way, Kesumo had no choice but to nod and say.
"Then let's go. The transplant surgery will be completed soon. We will use Test Subject 001 as the transplant sample; you should be able to withstand it."
Seeing Kesumo say this, the smile at the corners of Pake's mouth deepened, and Pake said with a laugh.
"My friend, my body has already endured much pain. Now, as long as I transplant part of Test Subject 001's flesh onto myself, I will become stronger, and those soldiers won't be able to do anything to me."
The two hurried to a laboratory, where Kesumo was anxiously preparing tools, throwing some items that looked useless to the side.
"Pake, I am going to begin."
"Begin! Wipe out all those of the Conservative Faction."
The Kasrkin squad began searching the Research Institute for traces of Pake. Upon encountering researchers, they knocked them unconscious without taking their lives.
"Their lives and deaths are decided by the Emperor; they shall be handed over to the Emperor for judgment!"
Just as the Kasrkin squad passed a laboratory that looked empty, a faint sound from inside caught the Kasrkin Sergeant's attention.
After the Kasrkin Sergeant made a gesture, the other Kasrkin soldiers stopped and began to stand guard.
The Kasrkin Sergeant looked inside from the laboratory entrance; a piece of equipment was running, but no one was seen operating it.
"The person inside, you had better come out and open the door, otherwise we will use forceful means to open it!"
The Kasrkin Sergeant said in a cold tone. A slight tremor occurred at a lab bench inside, and a white-haired researcher stood up slowly, not daring to move recklessly.
Daoer had already heard the commotion outside. Since these soldiers could fight so brazenly within Kesumo's Research Institute, it meant their strength was greater than the monsters that fellow Kesumo had created. If communication was possible, it was best not to conflict.
"Don't be agitated, I am not with those researchers outside!"
Daoer swallowed a mouthful of saliva and slowly spoke to the Kasrkin Sergeant.
"Whether you are or not, we will judge for ourselves. Now, stop that equipment and open the door. I do not want to repeat myself a second time."
Seeing the soldier in strange armor and a sealed helmet say this, Daoer did not dare to delay further, opened the laboratory door, and turned off the instrument that was working.
The Kasrkin Sergeant walked up to Daoer and looked them up and down.
Daoer always felt the other's gaze was somewhat malicious and hurriedly explained.
"I am not on the same side as Kesumo. I have never participated in human experimentation. Those anti-Human experiments were all done by them; I don't know the specific details..."
Before Daoer could finish speaking, they felt a pain in their neck, everything went black, and they fainted.
The Kasrkin Sergeant retracted their right hand and said in a low voice.
"I don't care what your situation is; I am just neutralizing you to avoid causing losses to the Emperor's Task."
After checking that there was no unusual situation in this laboratory, the Kasrkin Sergeant led their team away again to search for Pake's trail, but the next second, the entire Research Institute plunged into darkness.
"Hahaha, you had better obediently become my test subjects and wish me well in becoming a more perfect Human!"
A familiar voice came over. Upon hearing this voice, the Kasrkin squad began to advance rapidly, searching for the source of the sound.
