Chapter 485: The Destruction of the Frost Clan (4)

~7 min read 1,242 words

The Frost Clan's first round of artillery fire exploded into a crystal storm along the Valhalla soldiers' charge route, and beams of azure light plowed through the snowfield.

A Valhalla soldier instinctively rolled to the side, while the three Valhalla soldiers behind him instantly turned into ice-blue humanoid crystals, collapsing into the snowdrifts while maintaining their running posture.

Seeing the state of his comrades' deaths, this Valhalla soldier did not hesitate in the slightest, rejoining his other brothers-in-arms to charge toward the Frost Alien city wall.

The artillery formation in the rear, composed of rows of Basilisk Self-Propelled Artillery, was currently firing continuously at the Frost Alien city wall.

The Valhalla Captain in charge of command paced back and forth behind the rows of Basilisk Self-Propelled Artillery, shouting in a resonant and powerful tone to the Valhalla artillerymen loading the Rune Bullets.

"Fire! Let those Aliens know the Emperor's wrath! Let those Aliens know the fate of those who stand against the Emperor! Fire! Do not spare the Rune Bullets! If the Rune Bullets run out, I will lead you in a charge! The Emperor's glory shines upon us! We shall burn everything for the Emperor!"

Fuderi, charging at the very front, carried a Melta Bomb in his hand, pushing forward against the Energy Bombs fired at him toward the crystal city gate adorned with intricate patterns.

"Breach the Aliens' gate! Fenongqiu, eliminate the threatening units on the city wall! Randall, ensure that once the gate is destroyed, you charge in immediately; keep your Melta Bomb ready! For the Emperor! For the Lord of Red Sand!"

Fuderi quickly assigned tasks to every War Dog Space Marine over the communication channel, his running speed not slowing in the slightest.

"Understood."

After learning his Task, Fenongqiu quickly looked up to check for threatening targets on the distant city wall, only to see those Frost Aliens cowering and firing a few random shots outside the wall before shrinking back behind it; an Alien who looked like an officer was pacing back and forth on the wall, forcing those Aliens cowering behind the wall to poke their heads out and fire.

"You're the one!"

Fenongqiu raised his Bolter, aimed at the pacing Frost Alien, and pulled the trigger with his index finger; following a crisp gunshot from the Bolter, the Alien officer directing the battle on the wall was headshot within two seconds, and the headless corpse collapsed instantly.

Although Fenongqiu did not see the corpse fall, seeing the other Frost Aliens so terrified by this scene that they dared not show their heads, he stopped paying attention to the situation on that section of the wall; the remaining Frost Aliens posed no combat effectiveness and were not to be feared.

Sikacheng, on the city wall, felt his heart sink upon hearing that the officers directing the battle were being headshot one after another by the humans' attacks.

Those humans clearly knew that once the officers capable of organizing these recruits were dead, the recruits would be unable to form any combat effectiveness; now that they had begun to eliminate the officers directing the battle, the already insufficient firepower on the city wall would rapidly disintegrate.

"Damn it, where are our Ice Ling Cannons? How many are still operational?"

Sikacheng cursed under his breath, crouching low to hide within a Fortress on the city wall, and asked the Myriad-Man Commander beside him.

"General Sikacheng, only three of our Ice Ling Cannons can still fire, but the gunners operating them have been headshot by the humans outside; as soon as anyone approaches those three Ice Ling Cannons, they are shot dead."

The Myriad-Man Commander said this with a somewhat panicked expression, his gaze shifting from time to time toward the human soldiers outside the wall who were drawing ever closer.

Just then, several Rune Bullets slammed into the city wall outside this Fortress, sending crystal shards flying everywhere; a Frost warrior saw that the tall humans clad in blue and white Armor had already reached the foot of the wall and hurriedly shouted.

"It's bad, those tall humans have already reached the foot of the wall!"

Hearing this news, Sikacheng immediately said to the Myriad-Man Commander beside him.

"Take your men, go to the city gate, and stop the humans' advance for me—you must stop them! Once the gate is breached, we are all finished! Hold on for a few more hours! We will receive reinforcements!"

Upon hearing there were reinforcements, the Frost Myriad-Man Commander's eyes widened involuntarily as he looked at Sikacheng and said.

"General Sikacheng, could it be that what you mean is..."

"That's right, it is as you think, but we must hold on! Otherwise, everything will be for nothing!"

Sikacheng did not wait for the Frost Myriad-Man Commander to finish his sentence, interrupting him with a hurried tone.

At this moment, he could only give these warriors a glimmer of hope; only with the hope of survival could these warriors fight desperately against the human troops to stay alive.

The Frost Myriad-Man Commander said with an excited expression.

"Yes! I will do my best to stop that group of humans!"

Having said that, the Frost Myriad-Man Commander saluted Sikacheng and walked out of the Fortress.

"Bang!"

Just as the Frost Myriad-Man Commander had walked out of the Fortress with an excited expression, a crisp gunshot rang out; a Bolter round struck the Frost Myriad-Man Commander's skull, and with a loud explosion, the Frost Myriad-Man Commander's head was blown apart, the headless corpse even being knocked over by the blast.

Seeing this scene from inside the Fortress, Sikacheng suddenly felt a wave of despair rise in his heart, but considering his current predicament, Sikacheng quickly took off his own Armor, exchanged it with a Frost recruit, and after putting on the recruit's energy armor, Sikacheng took the token that could prove his identity.

"Whew... I must make it across!"

Sikacheng whispered to comfort himself, bent over, and ran out of the Fortress, feigning panic; when he hid behind the city wall, the previous gunshot did not ring out, which made Sikacheng breathe a sigh of relief; glancing at the Frost Myriad-Man Commander's headless corpse, Sikacheng moved along the wall, bent over, and approached the location of the city gate.

Fuderi, carrying the Melta Bomb and pushing forward against the Energy Bomb attacks, arrived at the city gate and saw Randall arriving with two other War Dog Space Marines, saying in a serious tone.

"Distribute the Melta Bombs for installation, then breach this city gate."

"Yes!"

The men who had installed the Melta Bombs quickly retreated; as the countdown on the Melta Bombs hit zero, a scorching heat emanated from the city gate, colliding with the frigid environment and stirring up a white mist.

Once the scorching heat gradually dissipated, Fuderi said to the several War Dog Space Marines beside him.

"Assault!"

After saying this, he was the first to charge toward the city gate; after passing through the white mist and seeing the large hole melted into the crystal city gate by the Melta Bombs, Fuderi immediately said over the communication channel.

"Have those soldiers charge toward the city gate; the gate has been breached, and those Aliens will pay the price for their actions! For the Emperor! Kill!"

When Sikacheng was about to reach the city gate, he heard a deafening roar of battle—it was the human language!

"What? The gate... is breached?"
