Chapter 6: Entrance Test

~8 min read 1,550 words

Yingzhou's gaze was tightly locked onto the two enemies before him, his expression appearing very grave.

Not long ago, Bai Tao had seen Yingzhou easily dispatch those robots all by himself, so he decided to temporarily separate from Yingzhou to go earn points on his own.

At this moment, a shield suddenly appeared in front of the blue robot, successfully blocking the laser bullets fired by the Krieg soldiers. Facing this situation, the Krieg soldiers reacted quickly; they attached bayonets to the carbines in their hands and then charged toward the blue robot without hesitation.

Yingzhou hid cautiously behind cover to avoid being accidentally injured. After all, his own physical fitness had not yet been improved, so he had to ensure his own safety until the Krieg soldiers completely eliminated the enemy.

The five Krieg soldiers coordinated tacitly with a clear division of labor. One Krieg soldier was responsible for entangling the green robot, while the other four Krieg soldiers surrounded the blue robot and, relying on superb combat skills, accurately plunged their bayonets into the blue robot's head.

At the same time, the green robot had also been successfully defeated by that Krieg soldier.

Yingzhou walked out from behind the cover, looked at the fallen robot before him, and said softly, "24 points. It seems if I want to rank in the top twenty, I need to find high-point robots to defeat. I wonder if the Krieg soldiers can defeat a purple robot."

Just then, a crisp voice came from behind Yingzhou, "Your strength isn't bad. My name is Su Miao, and I'm from Jianggu District."

Yingzhou turned his head to look and discovered it was the girl who had awakened an A-Grade Back Spirit. The five Krieg soldiers quickly approached this side and aimed their guns at the girl.

"Yingzhou, Xizhou District."

"So you're Yingzhou! Tell your soldiers to put their weapons down; I have no ill intent." Su Miao looked with surprise at the relatively thin boy before her, though an interested expression immediately appeared on her face. "I remember your Back Spirit is the random summoning type, right? Are these soldiers the ones you summoned randomly?"

"Yes," Yingzhou replied, standing behind the five Krieg soldiers.

"Hehe, it looks like your Back Spirit isn't as weak as others say." Su Miao did not feel discouraged by Yingzhou's cold reply; instead, seeing Yingzhou walk behind the five soldiers, she said with a smile.

Yingzhou had no choice but to lead the Krieg soldiers upstairs, with Su Miao following behind.

"Can these soldiers of yours talk? They don't seem to have any objections to your orders."

Listening to the questions Su Miao kept throwing out from behind, Yingzhou did not answer and continued walking upward, with two Krieg soldiers walking in front to scout the situation.

Yingzhou followed behind, looking around, when he suddenly noticed a purple light seem to flash behind a door in the distance.

Yingzhou stopped in his tracks immediately, while the two Krieg soldiers in front continued to advance.

"Why did you stop? Is there a situation ahead?" Su Miao looked at Yingzhou in confusion.

"A purple enemy, in the room ahead." Yingzhou kept his eyes fixed on that wooden door and began to step backward.

Upon hearing "purple enemy," the smile on Su Miao's face vanished instantly, and she followed Yingzhou's gaze toward the wooden door.

"Let's cooperate and split those 100 points," Su Miao said, coming to Yingzhou's side.

"I want to see its strength first before making plans," Yingzhou glanced at Su Miao and added, "Besides, this test didn't say two people could split points, did it?"

Su Miao shrugged and proposed again, "Then let's cooperate, and we'll each get points based on our own ability, how about that?"

"Fine."

After pondering for a moment, Yingzhou nodded in agreement.

Just after the two temporarily formed an alliance, those two Krieg soldiers had already explored up to that wooden door.

The two Krieg soldiers exchanged a look, then one of them gently pushed the door open, while the other raised their carbine, ready to deal with any potential enemy at any time. The door opened slowly, revealing the dim space inside the room.

Yingzhou and Su Miao stopped at a distance of 50 meters from the wooden door; the light in the room was insufficient, and they could only vaguely see the outlines of some furniture. Suddenly, a purple light flickered deep in the room, and immediately after, a huge figure slowly emerged—it was the purple robot.

The purple robot was much taller than the blue and green robots Yingzhou had encountered before. Its eyes emitted a purple light, giving people a chilling feeling.

"Prepare for combat!" Yingzhou ordered in a low voice, and the five Krieg soldiers immediately assumed a combat stance, their gun barrels aimed at the purple robot.

Su Miao also quickly summoned her own Back Spirit; a giant eagle wreathed in flames appeared behind her, and the pupils of her eyes also turned a crimson color.

"This is my Back Spirit, the Crimson Flame Eagle."

The purple robot seemed to sense a threat; it slowly turned its head, and its red eyes locked onto Yingzhou and Su Miao.

The Krieg soldiers opened fire immediately, and the laser bullets poured onto the purple robot's armor like a rainstorm, but a protective shield appeared in front of the purple robot's armor, causing the laser bullets to ripple upon impact.

Su Miao commanded the Crimson Flame Eagle to charge forward and engage in close-quarters combat with the purple robot. The Crimson Flame Eagle's claws left sparks on the purple robot's armor, but it was still difficult to cause substantial damage.

Seeing that the carbines were having trouble damaging this robot, the Krieg soldiers raised their bayonets and charged up to fight the purple robot.

The battle entered a white-hot stage, with the Krieg soldiers and the Crimson Flame Eagle joining forces to fight the purple robot.

Yingzhou observed the battlefield; he noticed that the purple robot seemed to need to concentrate energy when using its protective shield, which caused its movements to become sluggish while defending.

Yingzhou immediately issued instructions to the Krieg soldiers, telling them to adopt a dispersal tactic and attack the purple robot from different directions to disrupt its defensive rhythm.

Su Miao's Crimson Flame Eagle found it difficult to be effective in such a narrow room and could only continuously manipulate flames to pin down the purple robot.

Yingzhou had no choice but to summon the remaining five Krieg soldiers, using their carbines for long-range suppression, while the previous five Krieg soldiers seized the opportunity to approach the robot and use their bayonets for melee attacks.

After one instance of the Crimson Flame Eagle condensing flames, the purple robot had to concentrate its power to activate the protective shield in the direction of the Crimson Flame Eagle to defend, which was the opportunity the Krieg soldiers were waiting for. They quickly gathered their strength; one group of soldiers concentrated their fire on the robot's leg joints with carbines, while the other group rushed forward and fiercely attacked the robot's head with bayonets.

Amidst a violent explosion, the purple robot's leg joints were completely destroyed, and it lost its balance and fell heavily to the ground. The Krieg soldiers did not give it any chance to catch its breath; they immediately stepped forward and plunged their bayonets deep into the robot's head and chest.

"Phew... finally finished off this guy." Su Miao wiped the sweat from her head and let out a breath.

"As agreed before, each based on their own ability; these 100 points belong to me," Yingzhou said, walking slowly toward the scrapped robot.

"Mm, no problem, it was mainly the credit of these soldiers of yours," Su Miao nodded in agreement.

Inside the school office, the atmosphere was solemn and quiet. The old man stood up, his back appearing exceptionally tall under the light, as if bearing the weight of the entire school. He looked around, his gaze finally landing on the distance outside the window, where the Lingnengzhe Xuexiao training ground was located.

"The test has ended. I didn't expect this Yingzhou's Back Spirit to have some strength after all." The old man's voice was low and powerful, every word filled with emotion.

The surrounding teachers nodded in agreement one after another; they also developed some interest in this student's Back Spirit.

"Let's go, let's go see this batch of new Psionics now," the old man turned around and said to the surrounding teachers in a flat tone.

"Yes, Principal!" the teachers responded in unison, and they lined up neatly behind the old man, preparing to head to the training ground.

When they arrived at the test site, Long Yang had already notified the students inside that the test was over. A group of young Psionics walked out of the abandoned building; most of the students were covered in dust, and some had sustained minor injuries.

The old man walked onto the training ground, his gaze sweeping over every Psionic as if evaluating their potential and strength. His gaze finally settled on a young man wearing a white tracksuit—that was Yingzhou.

Yingzhou was walking out together with Bai Tao, the two of them chatting happily.
