Chapter 659: Battle of the Zerg Overmind (1)

Zerg Overmind in the Inner City of the Third Defense Zone.

Yiweier merged their body with the Brood Mother, amplifying their senses to observe exactly what was happening near their Brood Mother.

"What?!"

When Yiweier probed the situation near them, an expression of disbelief appeared on their face.

At this moment, small black dots were descending from the sky; some landed directly nearby, and the Winged Bugs in the sky above the Brood Mother tried to Intercept these black dots, but were shot down by streaks of Laser Beam!

"Airborne! It's Human paratroopers! The target is... me?!"

The expression on Yiweier's face changed from initial surprise to anger.

"How dare they?! Do they think that just by taking me down, this war will end? Naive! Their strength doesn't look high, they just have powerful equipment in their hands. Send a few second-generation Black-Winged Bugs to finish them off."

Saying this, Yiweier manipulated the flesh tubes inside the Brood Mother, awakened 5 second-generation Black-Winged Bugs, and issued their latest orders to them.

After a brief engagement with the Alien in the air, the Alicia soldiers finally landed near the Zerg Overmind.

"All units, attention! After landing, check your equipment and establish a circular defense!"

Before landing, Lieutenant Alicia quickly issued orders over the communication channel and opened fire on the Zerg swarming nearby.

The moment the Lieutenant Alicia landed, they rolled to dissipate the force, their Akalente Laser Gun already pointed at the nearest Swift Bug.

With three precise shots, three holes instantly appeared in the Swift Bug's head, and the Swift Bug fell to the ground with a "thud," motionless.

An Alicia soldier finished setting up the Akatelun Type Mortar they were carrying.

The automatic mortar, pre-loaded with five rounds, fired rapidly; five Rune Bullets flew out instantly, blowing the vanguard of the swarming Zerg into pieces.

At the same time, several Fragmentation Grenades traced arcs through the air and landed in the dense Zerg swarm.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The light of the explosions was accompanied by the sharp wails of the Zerg, and heat waves rushed toward them.

"Move fast! There will be more and more bugs! Quickly set the Explosive Device!"

Lieutenant Alicia roared into the Communication Device while firing single shots at Swift Bugs attempting to flank from the side.

Two Alicia soldiers were installing the Explosive Device onto a flesh building, while another Alicia soldier used an Akatelun Type Flamethrower to clear the Zerg rushing up.

Lieutenant Alicia shifted their aim and shot down a Swift Bug that was pouncing from an overhead hole toward the demolition team.

"Setting complete! Everyone fall back! Detonation countdown, five, four..."

As the Explosive Device was activated, the flesh buildings within the blast radius twisted, fractured, and collapsed with a roar.

The shockwave even knocked over some of the smaller Zerg nearby.

Lieutenant Alicia heard the coughing of the demolition team over the communication channel.

"Cough, cough, cough... Area cleared! Repeat! Landing zone initially cleared! Fifty-meter radius! Transport Aircraft can land!"

Inside the Zerg Overmind.

Yiweier "watched" the efficient attack methods displayed by the airborne Human soldiers after they landed and faced the Zerg surrounding them.

These Human soldiers had precise marksmanship, tactical cover, and terrifyingly fierce firepower.

All of this made it very difficult for Yiweier to equate these Human soldiers with the Humans they had been raising.

Can this be the same race? Is this the gap a single race can have?

What surprised Yiweier even more was the state of those Human soldiers.

A Human soldier had their abdomen sliced open by a Sickle Bug's claw, with their intestines half-exposed, yet they roared and lunged forward, pressing their gun barrel against the Sickle Bug's head and pulling the trigger repeatedly.

Another soldier's armor had a hole corroded by a Plasma Bomb, and the flesh inside was already cooked, yet this Human soldier seemed not to feel the pain, simply calmly replacing their Charging Pack and continuing to fire at the swarming Zerg.

"Lunatics! They are all lunatics!"

Yiweier muttered to themselves.

"Do they really have no sense of pain? No fear? What on earth did that 'Emperor' give them?!"

Just then, Yiweier sensed a fluctuation of energy in the sky; a Human Transport Aircraft appeared from the Gray Mist and was descending toward the ground cleared by those Humans.

"No! Must not let that thing land!"

For some reason, Yiweier felt that the Transport Aircraft contained the power to kill them, and it absolutely must not be allowed to land.

Yiweier mobilized the power within the Brood Mother again, seeing 5 Black-Winged Bugs break out of their shells, and Yiweier gritted their teeth and catalyzed the remaining second-generation Black-Winged Bug eggs within the Brood Mother.

At the same time, they emitted a sharp mental shriek, ordering all nearby Zerg to charge that open space at any cost and drown those Humans!

"For the Emperor!"

Lieutenant Alicia had the nearby Alicia soldiers form a defensive line, and several Alicia Sentinels opened fire on the swarming tide of insects; bolter rounds tore the Aliens' bodies apart, and roars echoed across the entire battlefield.

Just then, an Alicia Sentinel was instantly pierced by a black shadow; this Alicia Sentinel crashed to the ground, and the pilot inside had already become a corpse.

Immediately after, four more black shadows streaked past, and many Alicia soldiers holding the defensive line were decapitated before they could even see the faces of their opponents, falling to the ground and moving no more.

"Hold the line! For the Emperor!"

Just as a black shadow lunged toward Lieutenant Alicia, the black shadow was intercepted by a brilliant blue slash.
