Chapter 713: Rich Rewards
"The scouts of the 50th Legion discovered this in the peripheral zone."
Lu Zhenda took a sealed, transparent evidence bag from a document folder. Inside were several twisted silver fragments shimmering with a metallic luster, their edges abnormally sharp, resembling the wreckage of a circuit board.
"Preliminary analysis shows these fragments do not belong to any equipment we know of; the material strength is extremely high, and the craftsmanship is incredibly precise."
Horus picked up the evidence bag, the cold metal fragments conveying an inhuman texture through the plastic. He spoke in a low tone.
"Cyberk... It seems our enemy this time is different from the Aliens we have fought before. A company-sized force... able to devour one of our reinforced mixed legions in such a short time..."
Horus paused, his tone serious:
"Execute the following orders immediately:
Highest Priority Alert: With the 52nd Legion's ambush site as the center, all advancing units, reconnaissance units, and outposts within a 200-kilometer radius must immediately withdraw to the safe zone! Without direct orders, no unit is permitted to enter that area unauthorized!
Technical Analysis: Send these fragments and all anomalous materials and energy residue data collected at the scene to the Inner City with Highest Priority! Have those Tech-Priests analyze the weaknesses of these tin cans as soon as possible!
Father will return to the Ninth Defense Zone today; I must report to Father personally.
The threat level of the Cyberk... needs to be re-evaluated."
"Understood! I will get it done immediately!"
Lu Zhenda did not hesitate in the slightest, turned, and walked quickly out of the office. The office door closed behind him, cutting off the sounds from the corridor outside.
Military District Airport.
Accompanying Yingzhou down was Angron. Currently, Vulkan was stationed at the Second Defense Zone, so Angron had come to the military base where Yingzhou was located to board the Transport Aircraft returning to the Ninth Defense Zone.
As soon as he stepped off the Transport Aircraft, the Communication Device on Yingzhou's wrist lit up. After the connection was established, Horus's face appeared before Yingzhou.
"Father, there is a document that requires your review; it is regarding the Cyberk Alien."
Upon hearing that it was a document regarding the Cyberk, Yingzhou's previously relaxed mood instantly turned grave. He nodded and said to Horus.
"Good, I understand. Angron and I are heading to the office now."
Soon, the two arrived at the Military District Headquarters office. By this time, Angron had already removed his armor, and his God of War Armor was being maintained by two Tech-Priests.
"Father, please look at this document first."
After Yingzhou took the document handed over by Horus, he picked up the evidence bag; it felt slightly heavy in his hand.
Through the special sealing material, his fingertips could clearly feel the hardness and sharp edges of those fragments, a texture that did not belong to any known alloy.
He gently shook the bag, and the fragments scraped against each other, emitting a faint metallic friction sound.
"Cyberk..."
Yingzhou's voice was low as he mused.
"The discovery by the 50th Legion, and the... annihilation report of the 52nd Legion... Horus, tell me your assessment."
Horus coughed lightly and spoke to Yingzhou.
"Father, the situation is more severe than any Alien enemy we have anticipated before.
There are no signs of large-scale Energy Weapon residue at the scene; it is more like it was... efficiently 'Harvested'."
He paused, his fingers tapping on those silver fragments.
"These remains are the key. The Tech-Priests' preliminary scan results show that compared to last time, the strength of the Cyberk Alien corpses has increased by another level. In the only two engagements, the Cyberk Alien demonstrated powerful capabilities."
"Cyberk!"
Angron looked at the document bag in Yingzhou's hand with a grave expression and said in a deep voice.
"To be able to devour one of our full-strength legions in such a short time, without even a distress signal being fully sent... they are capable of blocking our communications within a certain range."
"Angron is right."
Horus interjected, his tone serious.
"This is not the kind of Alien we have dealt with in the past that relies on numbers or brute biological force.
This is a highly intelligent, highly coordinated enemy equipped with unknown weapons. Most importantly, they are all mechanical lifeforms with no emotional fluctuations.
Their tactical objectives are unclear, but their aggression is extremely high. I judge that they possess battlefield perception, information processing speed, and individual combat effectiveness far exceeding our estimates."
Yingzhou sat down, crossed his hands on the desktop, and his gaze moved back and forth between the document and the fragments, his brain processing the information at high speed.
The air in the room seemed to solidify, with only Angron's heavy breathing clearly audible.
Yingzhou said, word for word.
"Horus, your response order was very timely. Shrinking the defensive line to avoid unnecessary sacrifices is the correct first step."
Yingzhou put down the fragments, his gaze sweeping over his two sons, finally settling on the tactical map brought by Horus. His finger pointed at the coordinates where the 52nd Legion was ambushed, drawing an invisible circle.
"The appearance of the Cyberk means a change in the form of war."
Yingzhou continued in a heavy tone.
"The previous tactics used against other Aliens are not the optimal choice for these Cyberk. To eliminate the Cyberk Alien, one must strike to kill in one blow; we cannot give the opponent a chance to catch their breath."
He stood up, his gaze sweeping over the two, and said in a serious tone.
"Shrinking the defensive circle is a stopgap measure, but we cannot sit and wait for death. Horus, have all legions tighten their defensive lines and have them coordinate their defenses with each other. At the same time, notify Vulkan that the survivors in the Second Defense Zone should complete their evacuation as soon as possible and prepare a coordinated defense plan."
Yingzhou's gaze fell once again on the fragments shimmering with an ominous silver light, and he said word for word.
"We have eliminated several Alien races in less than a year. Facing this Cyberk Alien, what we need is time. As long as we hold them off, the strength we accumulate will become greater!
Furthermore, let the residents within the two defense zones continue to maintain their current lives."
"Understood, Father!"
After deciding on the subsequent situation, Yingzhou left the office; he prepared to head to the Inner City.
Before leaving, he decided to use his last Random Draw opportunity.
"System, perform a Random Draw."
"Consuming one Random Draw attempt, drawing in progress..."
"Congratulations to the Host for obtaining Primarch—Raven Lord Corax, Tech-Priest summoning authority, Tech-Priest promotion function, Tailin Family Knight summoning authority, 1 Random Legion Summoning attempt, 3 Reaver Titans, and 5 Void Shield Generators."
After seeing this, Yingzhou immediately felt that the rewards given this time were exceptionally rich.
"Wow, isn't this too generous?"
Yet, amidst his joy, Yingzhou felt a wave of suspicion; he felt that the rewards were too plentiful, as if they portended something bad.
Now, Xiuluosheng Planet only needs to eliminate the Cyberk Alien Race, and this planet will completely return to the hands of Human Civilization; once some time is cleared for development, everything will come to an end by then.
