Chapter 714: Analyzing Cyberk Soldiers
Ninth Defense Zone Inner City.
Yingzhou arrived at the area where the Tech-Priests were located, a place that was originally the Inner City residential district, now occupied by dozens of servitors modifying the remaining structures.
Yingzhou's arrival did not cause these servitors to stop their work; everywhere was filled with harsh, cold white light and the ghostly blue of flickering data screens.
In the air, besides machine oil and ozone, there was a mixture of disinfectant and a... faint, peculiar odor resembling a blend of scorched plastic and rust.
A Tech-Priest draped in red robes, with mechanical prosthetic limbs extending from beneath, walked out from a renovated residence, and a synthesized mechanical voice sounded.
"Praise the Omnissiah, please follow me."
Yingzhou followed this Tech-Priest into the building, where the remains of a Cyberk soldier were laid out on an operating table.
Several Tech-Priests in red robes were busy surrounding the operating table.
Their robes were stained with oil and unidentified grime, their fingers moving rapidly between complex instruments and exposed Cyberk components, whispering binary prayers and obscure technical jargon.
Hearing footsteps, the lead Tech-Priest turned around.
His left eye was replaced by an optical prosthetic flickering with red light, and his right arm from the elbow down was entirely a servo mechanical claw.
At this moment, it was gripping an organ resembling a Human brain, but its surface was covered in silver metallic veins and tiny interfaces.
He was Feier Ma-7X, the presiding priest in charge of this analysis.
"Omnissiah."
In Feier Ma-7X's synthesized mechanical voice, the tone maintained the respect due to Yingzhou.
He bowed slightly, and the mechanical arm carefully placed the brain organ back into a container filled with pale blue solution.
"Priest Feier Ma."
Yingzhou nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze cast directly toward the pile of shimmering silver parts on the operating table and the mechanical "husk" at the center, and he spoke in a serious tone.
"I need to know what we are facing."
Feier Ma-7X's mechanical prosthetic eye rotated rapidly a few times after organizing the data.
He walked to the side of the operating table and pointed his mechanical claw at those components.
"We dissected and analyzed this 'Cyberk' unit. The conclusion is: this is a highly advanced war machine driven primarily by an autonomous module, with the Human brain serving as an accessory to share computing power and distribute unnecessary calculations."
Feier Ma pointed to the brain soaking in the solution.
"The neural bundles were forcibly connected to a type of bio-metal interface we cannot fully parse, as if... grafting a cold mind engine onto native brain tissue."
"Can it still be considered a person?"
Yingzhou asked in a deep voice.
Fei Gema-7X's mechanical claw emitted a slight gear-turning sound, pointing to the metallic veins on the surface of the brain.
"These 'veins' deeply penetrated and replaced parts of the native nerves, forcibly increasing information processing speed; our preliminary estimate is that it is several dozen times faster than a normal Human.
At the same time, its autonomous module immediately initiated a self-destruct sequence once death was established.
It is now just an efficient, cold processor and command execution unit; the autonomous consciousness has disappeared."
Yingzhou's brows were tightly locked: "What about the skin?"
"The covering is human skin; after certain processing, it has become resilient and can cling tightly to the body inside."
Fei Gema pointed to the skin stripped from the torso and limbs and continued.
"Its strength far exceeds ordinary skin, it possesses limited self-repair capabilities, and it can perfectly adapt to various armors.
Its main purpose is... camouflage, protecting internal precision components, and... making them look less like pure machines, perhaps for psychological deterrence or some purpose unknown to us."
Yingzhou nodded slowly and spoke.
"Then what about the rest of the body?"
Fei Gema's mechanical claw nimbly picked up an armor plate covered in a ceramic-textured silver coating, then pointed to the cold-glinting metal skeleton, dense pipelines, and micro-engines exposed inside.
"Over 95% of the volume is artificial. The skeleton is some kind of high-strength alloy, lightweight and sturdy.
The muscular system is replaced by high-performance hydraulic or electromagnetic servo systems, providing strength and speed far exceeding Human limits.
The energy core is a miniaturized fusion device or high-density battery that drives the entire system.
And they also have backup energy blocks, which seem to contain elemental psionic reactions."
He pointed to several disassembled, complex-structured interfaces.
"They can quickly replace damaged limb modules or connect to different weapon systems. Once combat mode is entered, weapons will pop out from here on the arm."
Fei Gema picked up another scorched small cube covered in precision circuits.
"This is the communication and battlefield data link core we found inside its body.
It is very advanced, possessing powerful anti-interference and encryption capabilities, which explains why our communications are suppressed at close range.
Between individuals, and between them and higher-level command nodes, they use this for near real-time information sharing, forming an efficient combat network."
"Weaknesses?"
Yingzhou asked the most critical question.
Feier Ma-7X paused for a moment, the red light of his prosthetic eye flickering.
"Their 'weaknesses'... are relative.
First, the energy core.
Although heavily protected, once hit directly by high-power weapons or overloaded, it will cause a devastating blow; the same applies to the energy shields on their arms—high-power attacks can similarly cause the energy shield modules to overload and fail.
Second, although the head is heavily armored, the biological brain and core processor inside are the foundation of its 'existence.' Completely destroying the head can render it permanently ineffective.
Finally, the joints and precision servo systems. These parts are relatively fragile; high-intensity impacts or energy weapon attacks can cause them to temporarily or permanently lose some functions, reducing their mobility and combat effectiveness."
Speaking to this point, Feier Ma-7X paused and continued.
"However, their reaction speed, energy shields, self-repair capabilities, and coordinated combat efficiency all make hitting these 'weaknesses' extremely difficult.
Ordinary laser guns and kinetic weapons have very limited effects unless saturation attacks hit the vitals.
They... are like a group of highly intelligent main battle tanks draped in human skin."
Yingzhou looked silently at the cold, dismantled war machine on the console.
The description of Fei Gema-7X clearly outlined a terrifying enemy—a killing weapon that fused the biological adaptability of a Human brain with the absolute power, speed, and cold efficiency of a mechanical construct.
"What about those fragments? The ones mentioned in the report from Horus."
Yingzhou was referring to the wreckage discovered by the 50th Legion.
"They have been analyzed."
Fei Gema pointed to another analysis station nearby,
"They belong to the same material system, and their strength is astonishing.
The preliminary judgment is that they are the wreckage of some kind of precision equipment of theirs. The material itself... we are attempting to reverse-engineer it, but it will take time."
