Chapter 739: Communication from the First Defense Zone
When Vulkan finished clearing out the resistance in the Cyberk Fortress, the calm voice of Sanguinius rang out over the communication channel.
"The Alien reinforcements have been eliminated. Just as we speculated, within the range of the Peturabo Anti-Interference Device, they can only rely on local networks and pre-stored contingency plans to fight."
Vulkan set the Warhammer in his hand aside, picked up the head of a Canglei Cyberk soldier to examine it for a few seconds, and replied on the communication channel.
"Indeed. In the fortress, I discovered soldiers they mimicked to counter our attacks; they are even trickier in combat than the ones the War Hounds Legion encountered earlier. It must be a lack of sufficient combat data, leading to deviations in their analytical direction."
"This is an opportunity for us. Before they can analyze the countermeasures we've developed against them, we will push straight through to the Fifth Defense Zone, and either destroy or occupy the buildings providing them with massive amounts of energy."
"Agreed!"
The two immediately decided on the subsequent direction of their advance over the communication channel and sent detailed data of this battle to the Ninth Defense Zone Military Region.
Luna Wolves and Iron Warriors base.
Horus looked at the communication coming from the Ninth Defense Zone Military Region, answered it with a puzzled expression, and upon seeing Yingzhou sitting upright, spoke immediately.
"Father! Do you have something for me?"
"Yes, it is like this: just now, news came from Dorn and Ferrus that they detected a communication signal from the First Defense Zone. They are survivors from the First Defense Zone."
"After learning that we are at war with the Cyberk Alien, the leader, a survivor named Sherlock, said he is willing to help us resolve a major problem."
"They are preparing to send us the location of the factory where the Cyberk manufacture Titan Weapons, so that we can destroy it."
Hearing Yingzhou say this, Horus pursed his lips and spoke.
"They must have set some rather harsh conditions, right?"
Yingzhou nodded and said.
"Indeed. We want to approach the First Defense Zone by airdrop, but the moment a Transport Aircraft appears, it will be attacked by the Cyberk's air defense system."
"Father, you can let Sanguinius go! As long as the Transport Aircraft reaches the outskirts of the First Defense Zone, Sanguinius can go to the First Defense Zone alone and destroy it."
"Hmm, that is the same as what I thought. I also intend to go to the First Defense Zone with Sanguinius, so the frontal battlefield is left to you, Horus."
Horus paused slightly; he had not expected his father to also head to the First Defense Zone.
"Father, I am afraid that..."
Yingzhou shook his head slightly and said in a solemn tone.
"Horus, I have a reason why I must go there. Sanguinius will go with me, and the Blood Angels Legion will continue to operate with the Salamanders Legion."
"Yes! Father!"
As the communication cut off, Horus looked at Laku beside him and spoke.
"Laku, how is the collection of battlefield data from the Iron Warriors side going?"
"Father, it is complete. We can continue to launch attacks on the Alien at any time."
"Good, move out!"
"Yes!"
Horus slowly stood up and walked out of the Communication Room.
Since his father was going to the First Defense Zone with Sanguinius, he must seize the initiative of the war on the frontal battlefield himself.
Ninth Defense Zone Military Region.
After hanging up the communication, Yingzhou saw Lu Zhenda beside him looking like he wanted to say something, and said with a smile.
"Lao Lu, I know what you want to say. Just as I told Horus earlier, I have a reason why I must go there."
Seeing that Yingzhou's attitude was firm, Lu Zhenda shrugged helplessly and gave up the idea of persuading Yingzhou.
"Alright, then I won't try to persuade you. Shall we contact Sanguinius now?"
"Yes! Contact him! The sooner this war can end, the better."
When the battle report after the first engagement with the Cyberk was sent back to the Ninth Defense Zone, Yingzhou's System Panel triggered a Task again.
【Task 1: Achieve victory in the war against the Cyberk.】
【Task Reward: 1 Random Draw.】
【Task 2: Eliminate the only Cyberk on Xiuluo Holy Star.】
【Task Reward: 3 Random Draws.】
【Note: There is currently only one Cyberk on Xiuluo Holy Star.】
【Task 3: Understand the truth behind Xiuluo Holy Star being attacked by numerous Alien Races.】
【Task Reward: Unlock the territory building placement function.】
【Note: Please bring Selina when heading to the First Defense Zone.】
【Task 4: The Path.】
【Task Reward: Rewards will be obtained based on the host's choice.】
【Note: Please choose carefully, host.】
Yingzhou felt that there were quite a lot of notes for the tasks issued by the system this time, giving him a bad feeling.
But the tasks had already been triggered, and Yingzhou would naturally do his best to complete them.
Just as Lu Zhenda was sending the communication to Sanguinius, Corax, with his black hair and pale complexion, appeared outside the door of the Communication Room, his black eyes looking toward Yingzhou.
Yingzhou gestured to Lu Zhenda, then came outside the Communication Room and, looking at Corax who was already the height of an ordinary Space Marine, asked.
"Corax, why have you come here?"
The light in the corridor outside the Communication Room was slightly dim, but Corax's bottomless black eyes were exceptionally clear.
He looked at Yingzhou, his pale face carrying an earnest expression.
"Father, I was just outside the door and heard your communication with Horus."
Yingzhou nodded, not interrupting him.
"You are going to the First Defense Zone, with Sanguinius."
Corax stated, his black eyes fixed on Yingzhou.
"Father, I understand your considerations in not letting Jaghatai and me participate in the frontal assault. We have not yet fully adapted to... large-scale cluster warfare. However,"
He shifted the topic, his tone carrying a trace of imperceptible urgency.
"Jaghatai, he... um..."
Corax paused at just the right moment, then immediately caught himself, but the unfinished words were clearly audible in the air.
He tilted his head slightly, avoiding Yingzhou's scrutinizing gaze, coughed lightly into his fist, and only then looked back at Yingzhou, his tone becoming incomparably "candid."
"Father, this is just my guess... I do not know specifically where Jaghatai went."
He paused, emphasizing.
"Really."
Yingzhou looked at Corax, who was pretending not to know, and almost couldn't help but roll his eyes.
He knew Corax too well.
This feigned pause of a "slip of the tongue" and this "candidness" that was like a thief protesting his innocence simply had the words "Jaghatai has snuck out to cause trouble again" written all over his face.
"Corax,"
Yingzhou took a deep breath and said to Corax.
"Did Jaghatai ride that Assault Bike I gave him again and go off to 'reconnoiter' on the edge of some battlefield without telling anyone?"
