Chapter 87: Excising the Malignant Tumor
Yingzhou returned to the guesthouse and gathered the members of his squad.
"It's like this: the Orcs are preparing to attack the Inner City. Have you gained anything these past few days? Any suspicious individuals?"
Yingzhou led his squad members into his room, sat cross-legged on the bed, and spoke to the five members of his squad.
"There are a few. We've figured out their home addresses," Zhao Jian replied with a nod.
"Good. Give me the addresses. You all will come out with me in a moment." Yingzhou took the addresses of the suspicious individuals collected by them over the past few days from Zhao Jian's hand.
"Captain, are we going to confirm these people?" Ning Shen asked, his tone somewhat excited.
"Enough talk. Wait until dark." Yingzhou shooed them out.
In the Fourth Defense Zone Inner City, inside a rather luxuriously decorated house, Xisi was leisurely drinking a cup of tea.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
A burst of urgent knocking interrupted Xisi's refined mood. The household servant opened the door, and a man wearing a black formal suit and a dark top hat walked in. He handed his black coat to the servant who opened the door, straightened his white shirt, and walked into the living room.
"Kangna, why have you come?" Xisi put down the teacup in his hand, leaned comfortably against the back of the sofa, and asked leisurely.
"Xisi, we must prepare for leaving the Fourth Defense Zone. The Orcs are about to attack the Inner City. Based on those soldiers and equipment in the Inner City, we both know clearly that the Inner City cannot be held." Kangna sat opposite Xisi and spoke.
"Hmm, it is indeed time to leave. We should prepare the gifts for the Sixth Defense Zone. When the time comes, we can live a life in the Sixth Defense Zone's Inner City just like the one we have now." Xisi nodded calmly and continued, "I reckon that fellow Kelin still wants to find us to get some equipment. Just give him some tomorrow."
"That's what I thought, too. The Transport Aircraft side has already been coordinated. Tomorrow night, we can take the gifts and head to a new defense zone to live." Kangna took a light sip of black tea, closed his eyes slightly, and said.
At the same time, Yingzhou brought several squad members to the location of the first person they deemed suspicious. Yingzhou signaled for Zhao Jian to knock on the door while he hid in the darkness to observe.
As the door opened a crack, a middle-aged woman looked at the somewhat handsome man outside the door through the gap and whispered, "Who are you?"
Seeing that Yingzhou had not made a move, Zhao Jian said, "It's nothing. We are just here to check if the owner of this house matches the people currently living here, to avoid the Beast Race invasion."
The middle-aged woman nodded and said, "No, we have always lived in this house; it hasn't changed. Um, have the Orcs really started attacking the Inner City? Are we going to be eaten by the Orcs just like the people in the Outer City?"
Zhao Jian looked into the middle-aged woman's eyes and finally shook his head. "Rest assured, the soldiers in the Inner City will block those Orcs outside."
After the middle-aged woman closed the door, Zhao Jian came to Yingzhou with a complicated mood and said to Yingzhou with a somewhat dejected tone, "Captain, it seems the outcome won't change even if we come here. The Orcs outside are already preparing to attack the city, and with the Inner City in its current state, can it really be held?"
The other team members also looked toward Yingzhou. They had also gained some understanding of the situation in the Fourth Defense Zone Inner City over the past two days, and they wanted to see what their Captain's thoughts were.
Yingzhou looked around and pondered, "We will definitely win; we just need to excise some malignant tumors. How could Humans possibly be enslaved by those ugly Orcs?"
"We need unity—to unite all forces, to unite everyone who can be united, as long as they are willing to contribute to the interests of Humanity. And unity is exactly what the Human Alliance lacks most right now."
Hearing Yingzhou's words, the other team members nodded.
"Unity?" Zhao Jian muttered these two words to himself and fell into deep thought.
Just as Xisi and Kangna were imagining themselves taking their carefully prepared "gifts" to the Sixth Defense Zone to continue their luxurious lives:
"Knock, knock, knock!"
A burst of urgent knocking broke their conversation. Kangna frowned; he hadn't expected anyone to visit at this time.
"Do you have other guests tonight?" Kangna looked back at the door, his tone somewhat subtle.
"No, it should be that fellow Kelin coming to find us." Xisi signaled for the servant to open the door.
The servant opened the door and saw a tall, burly man standing there. He smiled and said, "Hello, checking the water meter."
"Check... checking the water meter?"
Taking advantage of the servant's daze, Yingzhou led the squad members and broke directly into the luxurious building.
"Don't move! FBI!" Yingzhou shouted, and the other squad members quickly subdued Xisi and Kangna, who were still in a state of confusion.
"It's you! The cannon fodder sent from the Ninth Defense Zone!" Xisi was restrained by Zhao Jian and stared angrily at Yingzhou.
"Since both of you are here, that saves time."
Yingzhou ignored their angry glares, looked at the list Xindi had given him, and asked, "I'll ask again: are your names Xisi and Kangna?"
"You know who we are and you still dare to treat us like this! Given our status, even if Kelin and his lot came now, they would still have to speak to us politely. You..." Before Xisi could finish his sentence, he was kicked to the ground by Zhu Chengnu behind him.
"Stop putting on airs here! Our Captain isn't from the Fourth Defense Zone; why would he need to be polite to two parasites like you?" After saying this, Zhu Chengnu still felt it wasn't enough to vent his anger and kicked Xisi hard in the stomach again.
Before coming, Yingzhou had made it clear to the squad members what kind of trash these people were, which had left the squad members full of fury.
"Xisi, as the Minister of the Logistics Department, you embezzled supplies needed by the soldiers, lined your own pockets, ignored the life and death of civilians in the Inner City, and even handed the worst supplies to the soldiers defending the city... Ah, damn it, you really aren't a human being! Your crimes are so numerous I can't even be bothered to list them."
Yingzhou looked at Xisi, who was lying on the ground, and said with disgust.
Afterward, he turned his gaze to Kangna. "Kangna, Minister of the Production Department, you colluded with Xisi to put more than half of the produced weapons, equipment, and daily supplies into your own pockets. Furthermore, you exploited the workers in the Production Zone, ignored their lives, and disregarded their survival. Due to various issues, many workers died... I really... are you all animals? Damn it, human scum!"
Yingzhou recounted the crimes of the two, but Xisi and Kangna showed no guilt on their faces; instead, they looked at Yingzhou with fierce eyes.
"Hehehe, you are just a combat squad captain from the Ninth Defense Zone. Even if you know these things, so what? The Human Alliance law stipulates that any law-breaking citizen will be judged by the law and handed over to the Judicial Department. You cannot change anything."
Kangna looked at Yingzhou with an arrogant gaze and sneered a few times.
