Chapter 88: Human Scum

~7 min read 1,261 words

Yingzhou looked at the arrogant man before him with a gloomy face, suddenly raised his right hand, swung it fiercely, and the broad palm slapped Kangna across the face with a heavy thud.

"Smack!" A crisp sound echoed in the air, and Kangna's arrogant expression vanished without a trace in an instant. His entire right cheek was swollen red from this slap, and the imprint of the palm was deeply etched onto his face, clearly visible. Nearly ten teeth flew out of his mouth, tracing graceful arcs through the air.

At the same time, Kangna's right cheek swelled rapidly, and the corner of his right eye split open under the immense force, with fresh blood streaming down his cheek and dripping onto the ground.

Zhao Jian and Ning Shen, who were restraining Kangna, were both forced back a few steps by the impact, and they simultaneously loosened their grip on Kangna's arms.

They looked at Yingzhou with some shock, a sigh in their hearts: they knew the Captain was strong, but to be this strong without even using the power of a Back Spirit—this simply wasn't power that a Human should possess!

Kangna covered his injured face with his hand, his eyes filled with disbelief. He never imagined that Yingzhou would actually strike so decisively.

"You... ugh... how dare you... hit... me... ugh."

Kangna was stunned by Yingzhou's slap; he felt a wave of dizziness, his right eye could no longer open, and blood was dripping onto the ground along his cheek.

Yingzhou had just controlled his strength to avoid slapping this piece of human scum to death in a fit of rage; that would have been letting him off too easily.

"You piece of human scum, this slap is light for you. You are simply wasting air by being alive. Those ancestors who bled and sacrificed themselves to ensure the continuation of Human Civilization could be angered back to life just to slap you twice!"

Yingzhou's tone was agitated, and he felt a surge of irritation in his heart as he looked at the piece of human scum before him.

Seeing that Kangna could no longer speak properly, Yingzhou had Zhu Chengnu drag Xisi, who had fallen to the ground, back up.

"Wait! There's no need for us to be so tense, right? How about we make a deal? You let us go. The Inner City definitely can't hold out, and you must have been thrown over here from the Ninth Defense Zone to die. We have a way to leave the Fourth Defense Zone and go to the remaining two defense zones to survive. You surely don't want to die here, right? How about it? This deal is definitely not a loss!"

Seeing Kangna's miserable state, Xisi had already mentally labeled Yingzhou and his group as lunatics. He couldn't provoke the other party and could only try to communicate to resolve the problem at hand; as long as they left here, he would make them pay a heavy price!

Thinking of this, Xisi felt a bit calmer; after all, people are afraid of death, and no one is not afraid of death.

"Oh? You have a way to leave here?" Yingzhou put on an appearance of being interested. "Tell me about it. If it's possible, I can consider letting you go."

Seeing that Yingzhou was interested, Xisi said excitedly, "Zhang Hai, who manages the Inner City Transport Aircraft, is one of our people. As long as we feel something is wrong, we will take the Transport Aircraft and leave here. There aren't many of you, so we can absolutely take you with us."

Yingzhou nodded slowly, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. "Hmm... I didn't expect you to have even considered this. You really have put in a lot of effort."

Seeing Yingzhou reveal a smile, Xisi felt a surge of excitement: It's working!

"Right, there's no need to risk your own lives for this so-called meaningless battle, is there?" Xisi said to Yingzhou with a fawning smile.

"Do you have any other accomplices?" Yingzhou's smile remained unchanged, his eyes narrowed as he stared at Xisi.

Beside them, Kangna was about to die of anger. This idiot! Can't he see that this Yingzhou is fishing for information?

"Ugh... you... idiot!" Kangna spat out these words with effort, but upon seeing Yingzhou's gaze, he swallowed the rest of his words. He could only pray that this Xisi wouldn't continue to leak information.

"It's fine, don't mind him, continue," Yingzhou glanced at Kangna, and seeing the other party wisely shut his mouth, he smiled at Xisi again.

After hearing Kangna's words, Xisi didn't know at first why his companion was scolding him, but when he saw Yingzhou glance at Kangna, making Kangna shut up, and then telling him to continue, he felt that something was wrong.

"You... you're fishing for information!" Xisi suddenly realized and exclaimed.

"Tsk, that Kangna, is it? Has anyone ever told you that your mouth is very asking for a beating?" Yingzhou clicked his tongue and looked at Kangna, his eyes unkind.

"Xisi, where did you and Kangna hide the weapons, equipment, and supplies you embezzled? As long as you tell me, I guarantee you will be fine." Yingzhou looked at the wide-eyed Xisi and spoke slowly.

"You... you can't frame me! I haven't done any of the things you just mentioned. You can have the Judicial Department investigate!" Xisi said loudly, but his voice was clearly trembling.

"Sigh, I gave you a chance. It's you who didn't speak." Yingzhou slowly stood up and stretched his body.

"You! Human Alliance law stipulates that one cannot bypass the Judicial Department to conduct private interrogations, let alone beat a suspect!" Xisi was panicked inside and brought up the law, wanting to use it to stall for time.

Yingzhou nodded. "What you say makes sense. Then, as long as they aren't citizens of the Human Alliance, wouldn't that be fine?"

Xisi was somewhat happy when he heard the first half, but after hearing the second half of what Yingzhou said, he was clearly stunned.

"N... not citizens of the Human Alliance?"

Yingzhou didn't pay him any mind and said to Zhao Jian, "Take a look, besides the waiter we saw earlier, are there any other people in this house?"

"Yes!" Zhao Jian took the order and left.

Soon, Zhao Jian returned and said, "Captain, just this one waiter."

Yingzhou looked at the waiter before him, who was already trembling with fear and pale-faced. He walked slowly toward the waiter.

"Sigh, sorry." Yingzhou bent down slightly, gently helped the waiter straighten his clothes, then reached out and tenderly wiped away the tears welling up in his eyes, his tone soft.

However, the waiter did not feel reassured by Yingzhou's actions; on the contrary, his fear grew even greater.

"Please, I promise I won't tell anyone you were here, please let me go!" The waiter's voice trembled with a sobbing tone, his eyes filled with despair and pleading.

"I have an elderly mother at home who needs care, and young children waiting for me to return. Please, don't kill me!" His body trembled incessantly, and his bloodless lips quivered without stop.

Yingzhou listened quietly to the waiter's pleas, his face devoid of any expression. He raised his head, his gaze falling on Ning Shen to the side, and he waved his hand at him, signaling him to "take away" this waiter.

"No! Please! Let me go!"

The waiter's voice gradually faded into the distance and finally came to an abrupt stop.
