Chapter 934: Intelligence Sent Back by Kashika
Fengrao Starport Command Center.
In front of the holographic star map, General Suo'er is discussing the details of defensive deployments with several senior officers.
"Energy output from the third defense platform is stable; the 'Firm Wall' shield strength has reached ninety-two percent."
A technical officer reported.
Suo'er nodded, scanning the green light dots on the star map that represented various defensive units.
"Order the engineering department to continue optimizing energy distribution; we need every bit of strength to..."
A communication alert sound interrupted Suo'er's speech.
On the main communication console, a transmission from the frontline fleet was flashing.
Suo'er said in a calm tone.
"Put it through."
The communications officer operated the console; first, static appeared on the main screen, followed by the face of Kashika.
"This is the Chaomo Asteroid Belt defense fleet, Brigadier General Kashika reporting for the last time. Our forces have suffered heavy losses, with fewer than ten ships remaining. The enemy's strength far exceeds our estimates, and their tactical style and technological level are completely unfamiliar."
The sound of an explosion came from off-screen, and Kashika's body swayed slightly, but he quickly steadied himself.
"We have recorded the enemy's combat patterns and ship characteristics; the data has been packaged and sent. A special warning: their boarding combat capability is terrifying. Our soldiers fought bravely, but there is a generational gap in individual combat power. You may want to try using special operations forces to counter them."
Kashika paused suddenly, turned his head to look off-screen, and then said in a solemn tone.
"The enemy has broken through the final line of defense; boarding parties are about to reach the bridge. This is the final transmission of the 'Firmness'. Please ensure the data reaches the Starport so our compatriots can be prepared. Long live the Fengqi Star Alliance!"
The screen turned pitch black.
Only the hissing sound of electricity remained in the communication channel.
The command center was deathly silent.
Total annihilation.
Suo'er stood where he was, motionless.
That old subordinate who had followed him for many years had just vanished into space along with his fleet.
"Impossible... forty-two ships, two hours..."
The communications officer reported with a trembling voice.
"General, we have received the data packet sent by General Kashika and are currently decoding it."
"Put it on the main screen."
The contents of the data packet included the enemy's ship designs, weapon performance, tactical characteristics, and combat footage of those Super Soldiers wearing Power Armor.
When a close-up of the Double-Headed Eagle Emblem appeared on the screen, Lady Aolana spoke up.
"This symbol... I have never seen it in the records of any star sector civilization."
Tuowake stared intently at the combat footage of the Luna Wolves warriors on the screen and said.
"Their individual equipment level is far beyond our imagination. Look at this—the Power Armor is completely sealed, likely providing full-spectrum life support and protection. The weapon system... my god, the recoil from that caliber of kinetic weapon alone would be enough to shatter the bones of an ordinary soldier."
Suo'er saw the Fengqi soldiers charging bravely, only to fall under the Bolters of those gray-white giants.
Energy weapons hitting the Power Armor could only leave charred marks.
After finishing the intelligence sent back by Kashika, Suo'er said in a deep voice,
"They are not pirates, nor are they any enemy we have known. This is a completely unfamiliar, highly advanced military civilization. Kashika traded his life and the lives of his entire fleet to buy us this warning."
Suo'er walked toward the tactical holographic table and began issuing orders.
"Readjust the defensive deployment. All orbital defense platforms are to enter the highest state of combat readiness, with energy output prioritized for the shield system. Order the Second and Fourth Fleets to withdraw to the Starport's close-defense orbit and abandon the outer interception plan."
A fleet commander raised a question.
"General, abandoning the outer interception means the enemy will be at our gates; we..."
"Kashika's lesson tells us that dispersing forces to engage the enemy outside the Starport is suicide. We must concentrate all our strength and rely on the Starport's fixed fortifications to resist, holding out until the support fleet arrives."
Suo'er continued to issue orders.
"Mobilize all Reserve personnel and strengthen internal Starport defenses. Pay special attention to potential boarding actions; organize anti-boarding special teams and equip them with heavy weapons."
Orders were issued one after another, and the command center became busy again.
In a corner of the command center, Lady Aolana and Academician Tuowake retreated into a relatively quiet communication cubicle.
Aolana activated a sound-dampening field and said to Academician Tuowake.
"The situation is even worse than we imagined. The military strength displayed by this 'Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance' is likely no less than that of the Daikong Star Alliance's main fleet."
Tuowake nodded and pulled up the analysis results on his data pad.
"What is even more terrifying is that we know nothing about them. Their technology tree, social structure, strategic goals... they are all mysteries. And judging by the aggression they have shown, the possibility of peaceful coexistence is slim."
Aolana said thoughtfully.
"If Fengrao Starport falls, we must ensure that the intelligence here is brought back to the Daikong Star Alliance. Information on this emerging power is very important to the Daikong Star Alliance."
"Do you think the Starport cannot be held?"
Tuowake asked in a low voice.
Aolana was silent for a moment, then nodded and said.
"General Suo'er is an excellent commander, and the Fengqi soldiers are brave and skilled in battle. But you have seen those combat data; the enemy's individual combat power is several times that of an ordinary Fengqi soldier, their ship firepower far exceeds estimates, and their tactical execution is very strong. In such a situation, the gap that courage and determination can bridge is truly limited."
After a pause, Aolana continued.
"I hope the Starport can hold, but as representatives of the Daikong Star Alliance, we must prepare for the worst."
Tuowake nodded in understanding.
"Our diplomatic ship, the 'Star Language', is currently docked at the second berth, and I have already had the crew prepare for immediate departure. But the problem is, if the Starport falls into battle, the departure lanes will likely be blockaded or in a combat zone."
Aolana said to Tuowake.
"That is exactly what we need to consider. I will coordinate with General Suo'er to secure priority departure clearance for the 'Star Language'. At the same time, back up all the data we have collected on the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance to the ship's independent server."
"If General Suo'er asks..."
"Just say it was to ensure the intelligence could be safely delivered to the Daikong Star Alliance; this is a fact, just not the whole fact. I do not like to consider a retreat at a time like this, but our primary responsibility is to the Daikong Star Alliance."
"Understood."
After Tuowake received the order and left, Aolana remained alone in the compartment.
As an experienced Diplomat, Aolana had seen countless races and civilizations, but had never encountered an existence so purely born for war.
There was no anger, no fear, and not even any passion for battle in the movements of those Power Armor warriors; there was only cold efficiency.
It was as if they were not living creatures, but some kind of perfect killing machines.
If such a force decided to continue expanding, how would the Daikong Star Alliance respond? Could the Daikong Star Alliance contend with such an enemy? Or, would it be necessary to seek allies, or even... consider reaching some kind of agreement with this Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance?
This thought made Aolana feel a wave of self-loathing.
Considering these things while allies face an existential crisis felt like a betrayal.
But political reality is often more cruel than personal emotions.
