Chapter 937: The Ship Escaping Fengrao Starport

~6 min read 1,174 words

The airspace on the periphery of Fengrao Starport was submerged in energy beams and the firelight of explosions.

The first salvo from the Horus Fleet, dark red light lances, tore through the void and flew toward the defensive lines of Fengrao Starport.

"Shield strength has dropped to eighty-five percent!"

"The D-6 Defense Platform's shield is dropping too quickly, requesting priority for energy allocation!"

"The Second Fleet's vanguard cruiser has overloaded its ship-borne shields and is retreating!"

General Suo'er stood in the Command Center, receiving battle reports one after another, and issued orders.

"Order each defense platform to fire in rotation to maintain continuous firepower."

"The Second Fleet is to disperse its formation and use its mobility to harass the enemy's flanks."

"Activate electronic countermeasures to jam the enemy's targeting."

Suo'er's only hope was to use the starport's massive defense system and structure to delay them as much as possible.

In the outer airspace, Fengqi ships wove through the dense web of fire, or were destroyed.

These ships used the starport's defense platforms as cover, waiting for an opportunity to launch a counterattack.

A Fengqi Destroyer hid behind a massive meteorite, suddenly shifted out to the side, and fired a full broadside at a Sword-class Frigate that was advancing.

The plasma torpedoes hit the target, sending ripples across that Sword-class Frigate's void shield.

The next second, a light lance from a distant cruiser struck this destroyer directly, and the Fengqi Destroyer turned into a ball of fire.

On the bridge of the "Loyal Soul", Horus watched the tactical holographic table and spoke to the First Company Commander, Luoke, beside him.

"These aliens are much more organized than those we have encountered before. Their commander knows how to maximize the use of the chips in their hands."

Luoke nodded and replied.

"Indeed, Father. They avoid direct confrontation and focus on delaying and harassing. At this rate, we will need at least 1 standard hour to fully break through the outer defenses."

Horus's fingers slid gently across the holographic star map, analyzing every detail of the battlefield.

Suddenly, Horus discovered a small signal on the edge of the holographic star map that had just detached from the starport and was moving toward the edge of the battlefield at high speed.

"What is this?"

The tactical officer retrieved the data.

"A small ship signal, Father. Based on the energy signature, it does not belong to the Feng Qi Xing Alliance. It left from an auxiliary exit of the starport, avoiding the main combat zone."

In such an intense battle, why would a non-combat ship choose to leave? And why choose a concealed route?

"Retrieve the combat logs and find the origin of this ship."

A few minutes later, the Intelligence Officer reported.

"Father, according to a database comparison, this ship belongs to a civilization called the Daikong Star Alliance, an ally of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance."

"An ally? An ally that flees the battlefield before the fighting has even begun?"

Luoke stepped forward and said to Horus.

"Father, this could be an important intelligence channel. If they are indeed allies of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance, the ship likely carries intelligence about this star sector, and perhaps even knows of the existence of other human worlds."

Horus realized this was an opportunity.

An opportunity to understand this unfamiliar star sector and find other Human Civilization.

Furthermore, if this witness who had seen their way of fighting were allowed to escape, it might bring unnecessary trouble in the future.

"They cannot be allowed to leave. Luoke, have the Luna Wolves Second Company intercept this ship. Prioritize live captives, especially their leaders and technical personnel."

"Understood, Father."

"Star Language" bridge.

Lady Aolana and Academician Tuowake watched the battlefield, which was growing more distant behind them.

Fengrao Starport was already shrouded in explosions and firelight.

Aolana ordered.

"Accelerate to jump-preparation speed; as soon as we clear the gravity well's influence, activate the hyperspace engines immediately."

Tuowake stood to the side, organizing the data he had collected.

As a scholar, he longed to stay and observe this powerful civilization he had never seen before; as a citizen of the Daikong Star Alliance, he knew that fleeing was the correct choice.

Aolana suddenly spoke to Tuowake.

"Academician, do you feel that we..."

Aolana's words were interrupted by the sound of an alarm.

"Detected high-speed approaching targets! Three... no, five! It's those warships!"

Aolana came to the control console and saw five light points on the sensor array rapidly circling from the flank of the battlefield, clearly aimed at the "Star Language".

"How did they discover us? We chose a concealed route!"

Regardless of Tuowake's shock, Aolana ordered.

"Now is not the time to discuss this! Full speed ahead! Activate all electronic countermeasures!"

The Luna Wolves' destroyer was rapidly approaching the "Star Language"; within a few minutes, it had already entered effective firing range.

"They've launched boarding pods!"

Through the observation window, Aolana saw several torpedo-shaped objects shoot out from the enemy ship and fly toward the "Star Language".

Those were the boarding pods mentioned in the Kashika intelligence, the tools those Super Soldiers used for boarding actions.

"Brace for impact! All personnel to battle stations!"

Although she said this, Aolana had seen the performance of these giants in combat logs with her own eyes and did not believe the "Star Language's" ordinary security personnel had any chance of winning.

On the Luna Wolves Second Company's Cobra-class Destroyer, Company Commander Sison was watching the ship that had fled the battlefield.

"Boarding pods launched, Company Commander. Estimated contact with target in 20 seconds."

Sison nodded and spoke into the communication channel inside his helmet.

"Brothers, remember Father's orders: live captives are the priority. But we will not show mercy because of that. Any resistance shall be ruthlessly crushed. For Horus and the Emperor!"

"For Horus and the Emperor!"

Luna Wolves Space Marine Chakede felt the vibration caused by the Boarding Pod colliding with the target hull, as the hatch opened.

Chakede was the first to rush out of the Boarding Pod and enter the interior corridor of the Star Language.

The scene before him was different from any ship he had boarded before.

Several Daikong security personnel were organizing a defense, their Energy Rifles firing at Chakede.

"For Horus and the Emperor!"

Chakede raised his Bolter and fired directly; every bolt could Harvest the life of a Daikong security guard.

Chakede growled into the communication channel.

"Advance! Secure the Bridge and the engine room!"

The Luna Wolves Space Marines advanced rapidly, cutting through the Daikong defense and pointing straight at the core area of the ship.

On the main corridor leading to the Bridge, Chakede encountered some halfway decent resistance.

The Daikong deployed Automatic Turrets and an Energy Barrier, temporarily blocking the path forward for Chakede and the others.

"Plasma Gun."

Chakede ordered simply.

A Luna Wolves Space Marine stepped forward, and the several Plasma projectiles fired from his Plasma Pistol directly destroyed the Energy Barrier and the Automatic Turrets behind it.

"Continue forward."
