Chapter 938: Firefight at Fengrao Starport (1)
On the bridge of the *Star Language*, Aolana watched those grey-white Super Soldiers breach one defensive line after another through the surveillance monitors and immediately spoke to Tuowake.
"Destroy all sensitive data, especially the research materials we acquired from the Starport, and send the intelligence we obtained on the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance back to the Daikong Star Alliance, and have the Daikong Star Alliance use diplomatic channels to rescue us."
Tuowake operated the control console, initiated the data destruction program, and sent the intelligence.
But he noticed that Aolana had quietly tucked a small data chip into a hidden pocket of her clothing.
"Ma'am, that is..."
"Necessary insurance, Academician. Some bargaining chips might just save our lives at a critical moment."
A heavy thudding sound came from the bridge doors—once, twice—followed by the harsh screech of tearing metal.
The doors were ripped wide open, and several tall, grey figures appeared in the doorway.
Chakede stepped onto the bridge, his red ocular lenses sweeping over every Daikong person on the bridge.
The Daikong security personnel raised their weapons, but Chakede simply raised his hand and fired a few shots, killing these security personnel.
"Drop your weapons and surrender; you will receive the basic rights of prisoners of war."
Chakede's voice came through his helmet speakers.
Aolana took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"I am the Daikong Star Alliance Special Envoy, Aolana. We are not your enemies."
Chakede approached her; even though Aolana was considered tall among the Daikong, she only reached the chest of this Luna Wolves Space Marine.
"Neutral Observers do not steal classified research data from allies; we tracked the data stream you downloaded from the Starport database."
Aolana's expression changed; she had not expected the other party to know even this.
"Now," Chakede continued, "you have two choices: cooperate with us and provide intelligence about this Starport, or... do not cooperate."
He did not state the consequences of not cooperating, but the threat was self-evident.
Aolana glanced at Tuowake, who nodded slightly.
In this situation, surrender was the only choice.
"We are willing to cooperate, but we demand prisoner-of-war treatment befitting our status."
Chakede let out a laugh.
"You have no qualifications to bargain, Alien. But Father is interested in the intelligence you possess. And the Emperor forbids us from obtaining intelligence through certain extreme means, so for the time being, your lives are safe."
Chakede turned to the Luna Wolves Space Marines behind him.
"Secure the entire ship and concentrate all survivors under guard. Tech-marine, thoroughly search the ship's computer system and recover all deleted data."
As the Luna Wolves Space Marines took full control of the *Star Language*, Aolana and Tuowake were escorted off the bridge.
While walking through the corridor, Aolana saw the corpses of the Daikong security personnel lying scattered on the ground, while those grey-white giants stood by, unscathed.
Aolana personally experienced the sense of despair described in Kashika's report.
Facing such an enemy, Fengrao Starport truly had no chance.
And on the distant *Loyal Soul*, Horus received a brief report.
"Target ship has been secured, important prisoners captured, data retrieval in progress."
On the outskirts of Fengrao Starport, every Orbital Defense Platform was equipped with heavy laser cannon batteries, Missile Fashijing, and point-defense systems.
The Commander of *Tiebi Sihao*, Major Man, stood inside the main control room, her eyes fixed on the sensor screen.
"West District armor plating has been breached, closing isolation doors!"
"Number three laser cannon battery is overheating, needs cooling!"
"Shield Generator is overloaded, Engineering Team is performing emergency repairs!"
Major Man felt the vibrations as the platform was struck by enemy artillery fire.
Her platform had already destroyed two enemy Destroyers, but it had paid a heavy price.
Two-thirds of the crew were casualties, and multiple sections had lost air pressure and were forced to be sealed off.
The engagement had only been going on for less than 10 minutes, and the enemy's firepower was ferocious.
"Major! Received orders from the Starport, requiring us to hold until the last moment to buy time for the second defensive line."
Man nodded, as a veteran who had served for 40 years.
Even knowing it was a dead end, one must make the enemy pay the highest price before dying.
"Detected multiple enemy ships approaching!"
Man looked at the main screen and saw three Frigates breaking away from the main battlefield and heading straight for *Tiebi Sihao*.
On their hulls, that ferocious Double-headed Eagle Emblem looked particularly striking under the starlight.
On the Iron Warriors' Dreadnought-class Light Cruiser, Third Company Captain Kastekesi observed the distant Orbital Defense Platform.
"Target shield strength remaining at twenty-two percent, multiple weapon systems still operational."
Kastekesi nodded and said.
"Typical alien design: sturdy on the outside, but fragile on the inside. Prepare for saturation bombardment."
"Captain, should we not wait until the other platforms are dealt with before concentrating our fire?"
Kastekesi turned his head, his helmet lenses flashing with red light.
"Iron Warriors do not wait; we solve problems in the most direct way.
If this platform is still resisting, then crush it completely."
Kastekesi pointed to the platform's structural diagram on the holographic projection.
"Aim for these support points and the Energy Hub. Weaken it first, then clear the interior."
"Yes!"
The three Iron Warriors warships adjusted their formation, all gun muzzles aimed at the *Tiebi Sihao* Orbital Defense Platform.
Following Kastekesi's order, dense artillery fire flew toward the already scarred platform.
Inside Tiebi Sihao, Major Man was thrown against the Control Console by a violent tremor.
"Direct hit on the energy transmission conduit!"
"Main reactor unstable, emergency cooling in progress!"
"Loss of pressure in multiple sectors!"
Man struggled to climb to his feet; his forehead was gashed, and blood flowed down his cheek.
"Report casualties! All functional weapons, continue firing!"
Under the fierce artillery fire of the Iron Warriors, the platform's defenses were stripped away layer by layer.
External turrets were destroyed one by one, the Shield Generator completely overloaded, and even the platform's structural skeleton began to deform.
"Sir, we have lost eighty percent of our weapon systems! The Engineering Team reports the main structure is damaged; the platform may disintegrate!"
Man looked at the enemy warships still approaching on the sensors and opened the platform's broadcast.
"All personnel, attention: prepare for boarding action. Repeat, prepare for boarding action. Let us show these invaders that the Fengqi know how to die with honor!"
Throughout the platform, the surviving soldiers gripped their weapons, set up barricades at the corridor entrances, and prepared to meet the final battle.
They knew what kind of enemy they were facing; the intelligence transmitted by the Kashika fleet had clearly described the terror of those giant warriors. But not a single person retreated.
