Chapter 945: The Fall of Fengrao Starport (3)
The 3rd Tactical Squad of the 10th Company of the Iron Warriors moved steadily through the corridors of the Fengrao Starport.
Squad Sergeant Gegan led four Iron Warriors Space Marines to carry out the task of clearing the remaining resistance in the upper area of the Starport.
The corridor was in a state of chaos.
Iron Warriors Space Marine Ulta turned his helmet toward a heavy security door on the left side of the corridor and reported.
"Area scan shows large-scale life signs ahead, not combatants, energy readings are very low. A shelter?"
Gegan made a gesture, and the squad entered tactical formation.
"Check that door. Sutton, prepare to breach."
"Understood!"
Sutton stepped forward and grabbed the edge of the metal door; muscle bundles bulged under his Power Armor, and with the sound of twisting metal, the entire door was ripped open by force.
This was a spacious shelter, crowded with all kinds of creatures.
Gegan said to the squad Recorder.
"Record, Alien shelter discovered at coordinates D-7-19, estimated eighty to one hundred non-combatants. Requesting instructions."
Subsequently, Gegan opened the company communication channel.
"This is Gegan Squad, discovered a large number of Alien civilians, requesting instructions."
Just as Gegan waited for a reply, Iron Warriors Space Marine Malik took a step forward.
His Bolter raised slightly, his eyepiece swept over the shivering Aliens, and he said with disgust.
"Look at these Aliens, they are huddled together like pests."
Then, a clear voice rang out from the crowd.
It was an Alien shouting at him.
"You... monsters!"
Malik's movements were fast.
Even without asking Gegan for permission, his Bolter had already spewed tongues of fire.
"Bang!"
The bolt precisely hit the head of the Alien youth who had spoken.
The youth's head exploded, and blood and brain tissue splattered onto the surrounding crowd.
Screams rang out once again.
Gegan spoke up to question Malik.
"Malik! Explain your actions."
Malik turned around, bloodstains from the recent shooting splattered on his Power Armor.
"He called us monsters, Sergeant. This is a blasphemy against the Emperor's warriors."
Gegan stepped forward and said in a deep voice.
"We are waiting for the Purification Procedure, you did not receive an order to fire."
Malik straightened his body.
"Sergeant, these Aliens do not deserve any form of mercy. Look at them, each one is an insult to the purity of Humanity."
The red light of Gegan's eyepiece fell on Malik, and then he said to the squad Recorder.
"Record, Alien unit displayed aggressive language, has been dealt with."
Then Gegan turned to Malik.
"Let this not happen again, warrior. Among the Iron Warriors, we follow orders and discipline, not personal emotions. Do you understand?"
Malik nodded and replied.
"Understood, Sergeant."
Just then, the company's reply came through the communication channel.
"Gegan Squad, the battle is not yet over. Execute the standard Purification Procedure, then continue to carry out the main Task."
Gegan glanced at the creatures huddled together in the shelter and raised his hand to make a concise gesture to the squad.
"Execute the Purification Procedure."
The roar of the Bolter echoed in the shelter for a full minute.
When the last gunshot faded, only a pile of bloody Alien fragments remained in the room.
Gegan stood at the entrance, his eyepiece sweeping over the scene inside, and spoke.
"Purification complete. Gegan Squad continues to carry out the Task."
Gegan turned and left; before leaving, Malik took one last look at the scene of the massacre he had caused, his body under the Power Armor straightening slightly.
Ulta approached Gegan and asked in a low voice.
"Sergeant, Malik's actions..."
Gegan interrupted him.
"A warrior's enthusiasm needs to be guided, not suppressed; as long as he follows the final orders and discipline, personal... initiative can be tolerated within a controlled range."
Krix added from behind.
"That Alien did indeed display aggression."
"The Recorder recorded it as such."
Sutton said briefly.
Gegan did not respond, only continuing to lead the squad forward.
At the next intersection, Gegan Squad encountered resistance from a small group of Fengrao soldiers.
Malik performed very valiantly in this engagement; he charged to the front and used his Chainsword to cleave a Fengrao soldier along with his cover.
"Iron Within, Iron Without!"
After the battle ended, Gortie walked to Malik's side.
"Control your rage, warrior. The Iron Warriors rely on discipline and precision, not savage impulses."
Malik looked down at his Chainsword, which was stained with Alien blood.
"I only wanted to ensure the thorough purification of this contamination, Sergeant."
"Thorough purification is necessary. But remember, we are not fanatical beasts; we are the Iron Will of the Emperor. Every one of our actions must have a purpose and logic."
"Understood, Sergeant."
The squad continued to push forward, clearing one area after another.
They systematically checked every room and every corridor, eliminating all Aliens encountered, whether they were armed soldiers or Alien civilians.
While clearing a storage area, Gegan discovered several Visate hiding behind cargo crates.
"Please... please do not hurt us. We are willing to surrender; we possess valuable technology and information..."
Gegan spoke up to ask.
"What information?"
The Visate replied hurriedly.
"About the Starport's defense systems, energy distribution... and our race's psychic technology. We can serve you..."
Gortie listened quietly, then nodded slightly.
"Log: Alien units have submitted a request for cooperation, willing to provide technology and intelligence."
A look of hope appeared on the faces of the Visate.
Then Gegan added.
"Request denied. Alien technology is a blasphemy against Human technology and cannot be trusted."
The Bolter roared once more.
When silence returned to the storage area, Malik walked to Gortie's side.
"Sergeant, perhaps we should have brought them back for the Techmarine to study."
Gegan turned his head to look at Malik.
"Are you starting to question orders, warrior?"
"No, Sergeant. It is just... a matter of efficiency. If they truly have a use..."
"The Iron Warriors do not trust any promises from Aliens. Even if the information they provide is true, contact with such knowledge itself is a form of contamination. Thorough purification is the only safe path."
He looked around at the squad members.
"Remember, brothers. This is not cruelty; this is necessity."
The squad members struck their chest plates in succession, signaling understanding and obedience.
They continued to advance, passing through the corridors of the Starport, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
"It seems the fall of the Starport is only a matter of time."
Ulta commented.
Gegan nodded.
"Our Task is to accelerate this process. Gegan Squad, continue forward. There is more purification work to be done."
